  1. Wow, it took that long for Y&R to get acting nominations for the Emmys? When did Bill Bell and his writing team start getting nominations? (I know one year he had to give the Emmy back because they had mistakenly put Y&R in the envelope and the award had really been won by GL.)
  2. Ahhhh, what great soap was. Those were the days, my friends!!
  3. Thank you. Even the music didn't sound "soap opera-ish" - it sounded a lot like the non-serialized dramas of the day. Also, what a shame that the show had sunk so far low in the ratings that it was last aired about 3 months from what would have been its 20th anniversary. Had the show gone into 1983, I wonder how they would have commemorated their 20th anniversary. Alas, we'll never know...
  4. I guess I had him confused with another AW writer, Samuel Ratcliffe. Thanks.
  5. P.S. When Matt and Maggie finally wed, who was playing Maggie at the time? Was it Bethel Leslie or Lydia Bruce?
  6. Bless the person who uploaded this for us all to enjoy. I'm surprised they re-cast Maggie with an actress who looked absolutely nothing like Ann Williams. The timeline for Ms. Williams leaving sounds right. The reason she quit TD was because she was pregnant with her first child, and Amanda was born in August 1965. Of course, by the time this episode of TD aired, Ms. Williams had been playing Eunice on SFT for over a year. SoapDope, I've thought that about young Liz Hubbard for quite some time. She was a stunner!! Wow!! I wonder if she had ever done any modeling. I also agree with the gloves, hats, etc. I'm a big Bewitched fan, and it is always a treat seeing how people dressed up even to go to mundane places like the supermarket on both the daytime and primetime shows of that era. Both Elizabeths (Hubbard and Montgomery) had that air of elegance.
  7. I remember Mark LaMura was doing a play here in the Cleveland area about 10 or 15 years ago when everyone had to take cover because there were strong thunderstorms in the area, and I think the power went out at some point. I don't know if they continued the show after that.
  8. So what finally happened with Snapper and Chris in the end?
  9. That makes two of us!!!
  10. He wrote for AW, too? When?
  11. He the one who penned the scene with Grayson Hall, Anthony George and Nancy Barrett (who were all in separate storylines) bumping into each other and wondering where they had seen the others before. Funny and clever DS in-joke.
  12. LOL!! She does look kind of Leona-ish in this clip.
  13. Yeah, and Jeff tried to kill the suddenly-British Adam for it in the reunion movie!!
  14. I do think Linda Dano did deserve to win for the alcoholism story - the others, I couldn't say.
  15. I don't know about PSM and hair loss, but I do know she has been vocal about her battle with interstitial cystitis (chronic bladder inflammation).
  16. These discussions and clips are awesome. Keep 'em coming!!
  17. I never understood why Nina Arvesen never became a bigger name in the soap world. She and Doug Davidson certainly had plenty of chemistry.
  18. Curt Dawson was one of the actors Doug Watson thanked in his Emmy acceptance speech in 1981 (because the episode he submitted was the one of Mac learning on the witness stand that Mitch was baby Matthew's biological father, after Rachel's tearful confession. Zachary Colton was the prosecutor who was grilling Mac.).
  19. No problem!! I just saw Jay Avocone in a Cold Case rerun not too long ago.
  20. Yes, that was Jay Avocone in Cruising - I believe that movie came before his time on SFT. But I couldn't find any listing for Curt Dawson on SFT.
  21. Yup, and then HBM itself didn't last past the summer of '79.
  22. Thank you for confirming that. Was it Maeve's choice to leave EON second time around? If she had stayed, and if the show had still hired Lori Loughlin as Jody Travis, I bet she would have been a long-lost daughter of Nicole's rather than her younger half-sister.
