  1. Henry Simmons (Tyrone Montgomery, AW, 1997-99) was a guest on last night's episode of SVU.
  2. It worked fine for me, too - my cable provider doesn't carry Retro TV at all (Cleveland area).
  3. Was Kimberley Simms the only Mindy to be paired romantically with Roger? Somehow I can't imagine him with Krista Tesreau's Mindy.
  4. Thank you, SoapDope. There seem to be a lot of contradictions about PSM!! But she still seems to have strong ties to some of her former co-stars. Not long ago, I saw photos of her with Parker Stevenson and Jean Rasey from a ND/HB reunion. They all looked GREAT.
  5. The show I remember Julia Campbell most for, oddly enough, was the short-lived A Whole New Ballgame with Corbin Bernsen, which aired in 1994-95 while the real-life MLB strike was going on. Thank you, sungrey, for the updates. The year started with the passing of Carmen Zapata (Carmen Castillo), who in a sad coincidence, passed away the same weekend as A Martinez's real-life mother. Then Dane Witherspoon passed at the end of March. Now Justin Gocke. So, so sad.
  6. Unfortunately, with no warning from TV One, they cut the season short, ending it with the episode about the Chi-Lites. When/if the Peaches & Herb and Rick James episodes will air, I have no idea. I had to look up on the TV One website (which is not exactly user-friendly, IMO) and "Unsung"'s FB page to confirm this.
  7. Thanks for posting that. Did you think Trish Stewart worked better with WGE or the Hoff?
  8. Sad news - Justin Gocke, who played the role of Brandon Capwell the longest (1987-92) and won and Emmy for it in 1989, passed away at age 36 on September 8th. http://avpress.com/obit-archive.php?obit=31897785 Here's what A Martinez said on FB: "Justin. This acting business can be a difficult thing to deal with for anyone. But especially for children." The cause of death, as per the Santa Barbara Home Page, as well as other sites, is listed as an apparent suicide. I couldn't find anything to confirm that. So, so sad.
  9. Yes, and ABC would learn that again a couple of years later when they brought Jacquie Courtney and George Reinholt to OLTL from AW. Then again, they had been fired from AW and it sounds like Denise Alexander left DAYS of her own accord.
  10. Thank you. I remember reading that when Y&R finally won the Writing Emmy in 1992, Bill Bell told the story of what happened in 1986. He also said that if his phone rang in the morning, he wasn't going to answer it. LOL
  11. Getting back to PSM, I also read elsewhere that she was fired from her role as Nancy Drew because she had posed for Playboy. It seems from her departure from both her famous roles, there are contradictions. Anyway, which Fallon do you think John James' Jeff had more chemistry with - PSM or ES? How long after Michael the chauffer was dropped did his portrayer, Wayne Northrop, join DAYS?
  12. Wow, it took that long for Y&R to get acting nominations for the Emmys? When did Bill Bell and his writing team start getting nominations? (I know one year he had to give the Emmy back because they had mistakenly put Y&R in the envelope and the award had really been won by GL.)
  13. Ahhhh, what great soap was. Those were the days, my friends!!
  14. Thank you. Even the music didn't sound "soap opera-ish" - it sounded a lot like the non-serialized dramas of the day. Also, what a shame that the show had sunk so far low in the ratings that it was last aired about 3 months from what would have been its 20th anniversary. Had the show gone into 1983, I wonder how they would have commemorated their 20th anniversary. Alas, we'll never know...
  15. I guess I had him confused with another AW writer, Samuel Ratcliffe. Thanks.
  16. P.S. When Matt and Maggie finally wed, who was playing Maggie at the time? Was it Bethel Leslie or Lydia Bruce?
  17. Bless the person who uploaded this for us all to enjoy. I'm surprised they re-cast Maggie with an actress who looked absolutely nothing like Ann Williams. The timeline for Ms. Williams leaving sounds right. The reason she quit TD was because she was pregnant with her first child, and Amanda was born in August 1965. Of course, by the time this episode of TD aired, Ms. Williams had been playing Eunice on SFT for over a year. SoapDope, I've thought that about young Liz Hubbard for quite some time. She was a stunner!! Wow!! I wonder if she had ever done any modeling. I also agree with the gloves, hats, etc. I'm a big Bewitched fan, and it is always a treat seeing how people dressed up even to go to mundane places like the supermarket on both the daytime and primetime shows of that era. Both Elizabeths (Hubbard and Montgomery) had that air of elegance.
  18. I remember Mark LaMura was doing a play here in the Cleveland area about 10 or 15 years ago when everyone had to take cover because there were strong thunderstorms in the area, and I think the power went out at some point. I don't know if they continued the show after that.
  19. So what finally happened with Snapper and Chris in the end?
  20. That makes two of us!!!
  21. He the one who penned the scene with Grayson Hall, Anthony George and Nancy Barrett (who were all in separate storylines) bumping into each other and wondering where they had seen the others before. Funny and clever DS in-joke.
  22. LOL!! She does look kind of Leona-ish in this clip.
