  1. Yes, Bridget White. I wonder what she's up to these days.
  2. saynotoursoap, you were talking about Pam Toll earlier. I don't know if you knew this or not, but one of her four kids is very active in theatre in Tennessee. Here are Daniel DeVault's credits (and also a photo): http://www.abouttheartists.com/artists/396517-daniel-devault http://www.circleplayers.net/#!one-flew-over-the-cuckoos-nest-cast-and/cier http://www.nashvillescene.com/nashville/act-1-stages-a-compelling-production-of-nilo-cruzs-pulitzer-winning-anna-in-the-tropics/Content?oid=4178435
  3. I didn't even know Gary HAD a wife before Josie. You really do learn something new every day!!
  4. I remember that very well. That was at the end of August 1997. I remember because my mother took me out of school that day so I could have my wisdom teeth removed. We arrived back home just as that episode came on, and I was on the couch still numb from the procedure. Watching the episode helped keep my mind off it a bit.
  5. I think the last sentence just says it all. Beautiful...
  6. How long did she last on AW? Who was the next headwriter?
  7. I never saw Christine Tucci. The first Amanda I saw was Laura Moss when I began watching in 1997, and then Sandra Ferguson came back to reclaim her role the next year and kept it until the cancellation. At least once we saw one vintage flashback clip with Rachel and Amanda when Sandra returned.
  8. I think the sound effects during the vows were like that intentionally, to amplify how nervous both of them were. I'm surprised the only main character who DIDN'T get a voiceover was Penny!!! One of my favorite moments was when Martha crashed the photo session. "Martha...you're FIRED!!" "Oh, not again." Everyone laughs. I liked that instead of random extras, we got the "hospital staff" instead. The background nurses, the orderlies, almost all the regular background players we see on a usual basis were there. The scene on the plane (though I don't know why Althea was wearing a fur hat on a flight to the Caribbean!!) and the "beach" were fun because I thought that LH and GG would be written off for the duration of the honeymoon and we wouldn't get to see them at all. I'm surprised that the scene where Althea is lying on her stomach to get a tan and her bikini top straps are untied (with Nick's hand resting on her back) got past the NBC censors!! There are some great Althea/Nick scenes coming up in January and February, especially. Without giving away too much, almost an entire episode takes place in the Bellini apartment and the two have one of the most honest and raw conversations I've ever seen on a TV show (daytime OR primetime). I think you'll like it, if you haven't already seen it. One of GG's final screen appearances was a brief arc on AMC in the summer of 1994 as Adam Chandler's lawyer. He and LH were also guest stars very early on in the run of the original L&O (though sadly not in the same episode). Keep us posted as to where you are at!! It won't be long before you're all caught up!!! I really enjoy your observations.
  9. The TGIF Club - I like it, too. Nothing romantic (although we all know Jody Lee has it bad for Liz), just four friends/co-workers who enjoy a pizza and beer after work hours every so often and just enjoy each other's company.
  10. I preferred her as Aunt Vivian (though I do like Daphne Maxwell Reid), but Janet Hubert is one scary lady. I sure wouldn't want to get on her bad side!!!
  11. I can take Jody Lee in small doses. A little of him goes a long way. I did like the way he outsmarted the politician member of the hospital board (M. Emmet Walsh).
  12. I agree with Khan about Bill and Susan Hayes - but I also have a special soft spot for them as they were wed the exact same day (October 12, 1974) as my parents, who also celebrated their 40th.
  13. Very interesting insights!! So, what were your thoughts on the wedding itself?
  14. Good old-fashioned 80s cheese. Love it.
  15. Hahaha - I wonder if Althea and Nick's reception was held in the lounge or the lab... Jody Lee Bronson, that's the Southern gentleman smitten by "Liz Liz". Yes, the story where they ape Dark Shadows is very, very tedious and went on way too long - though it really only aired over 7-8 weeks. With two a day in the reruns, that was cut in half for us and still felt like an eternity. I have to wonder if the character of Jack Fenelli on RH wasn't at least partly inspired by Nick Bellini. Both Gerald Gordon and Michael Levin are still unparalleled in the all-time soap yeller category!!
  16. Someone should take that scene of Nick and add thunder effects/lightning bolts effects - like in those mad scientist movies. LOL!!!
  17. Agreed. I loved the March 5th episode, using just five principals - Matt/Mike in Act I, Althea/Nick/Penny in Act II and the three doctors tying the ends together. The episode begins with Matt on the phone with a board member about the possibility of a nuclear scanner for the lab and ends with Nick's gleeful reaction in the lab to the prospective new "toy". Both kids leave unhappy - leaving their (bio) parents unhappy. The parents agree with each other; Nick agrees with the kids. Then Nick acts like a big kid himself, raving on about the scanner to - no one (as both Althea and Matt left when his back was turned) until the tall, boyish orderly with dark hair comes into the lab with supplies. Then, over the credits, Nick - desperate for ANYONE to gush to about the scanner - corners him. Even without audible dialogue, the scene is hilarious. Nick looks like both a gleeful kid on Christmas and a mad scientist. This episode is a prime example of the structure of the story that I love so much. ALL scripted shows, daytime AND primetime, should be built together so beautifully. It weaves characters in and out just like a play.
  18. Thanks, Carl and SFK!!!
  19. Great minds, DramatistDreamer!! Plus, "Barracuda" is a great song by a great band.
  20. I couldn't agree more about your assessment of BL/LB and their respective takes on the role of Maggie. If I had to describe LB's portrayal in one word it would be WARM. Peter Burnell's Mike is like a live-action Peanuts character. He has the melancholy of Charlie Brown with the warmth of Linus (and the hair of Schroeder). This is not an insult at all - I think Charles Schultz put more heart and soul into the dialogues (and monologues) of his animated characters than the majority of soap writers in the history of the genre had/have.
  21. Applcin, where are you now in the reruns?
  22. Thanks. It's kind of ironic, as she initially began her run as Maggie on TD as a temp, and wound up playing the role until the show's end, nearly a decade and a half. I know Beverlee McKinsey was absent from GL this time due to her husband's passing, but how long had she been on the show before that happened? It couldn't have been too long.
  23. How many episodes did Lydia Bruce do on GL? I only saw one.
  24. Thank you, Paul Raven and saynotoursoap. I checked out Ellen Holly's book from the library several years ago and I remembered that story, and wondered if the two EPs were one and the same. Thanks again for confirming. How long did he last at the helm of TD? Thanks also for the information about when they went to stills - and it only lasted a few short months due to the cancellation. When was the cancellation made public? How far into Lydia's run as Maggie was she given co-star status? Almost a year from her debut (she first appeared in May 1968 and we're now in March 1969) and Maggie is still listed with the supporting cast.
  25. Great promo of La Liz - and quite different than the sweet and gentle Dr. Althea Davis we are seeing in the Retro TV reruns!! Lucinda Walsh was a barracuda...and I mean that in the very best way!!
