  1. There really are some good stories in the summer of 1968 (the best one, of course, is Althea and Nick) with some terrific acting to boot. Unlike the shows of today, you actually believe that these people are medical professionals.
  2. I'd never seen that promo before. Thanks for posting it.
  3. Carl did indeed post my reply from Mrs. Kiberd - but on the AW page (she originated the role of Cecile on that show in 1979). Here it is: http://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/30343-another-world/page-132
  4. Thank you, Carl, for posting the pics and TimWil, for your kind words. That's part of the reason why having the vintage soaps show up on YT (and on reruns, as is the case with The Doctors on Retro TV) is so great - the actors' kids, grandkids, and/or other family members can see the episodes made before they were born or were too young to remember them.
  5. I STILL think Jessica Fletcher really committed every crime on the show (and was just very good at hiding it), but I digress. LOL
  6. I never thought I'd see Agnes Nixon and A Different World in the same sentence, but hey. Then again, she did pen a groundbreaking story about an African-American family on OLTL (the Gray/Hall family)...
  7. What a shame. Jacquie deserved better than that.
  8. Barbara Stanwyck probably would have preferred FC after her experience on The Colbys!!!!
  9. I second that emotion!!!!
  10. Laura Malone (Blaine, AW, 1978-1984) became a lawyer years ago, and worked for the Associated Press and Getty Images. Now she is working as an attorney for Zulily, at its headquarters in Seattle. Here is her LinkedIn profile, complete with a photo. She looks wonderful!! https://www.linkedin.com/pub/laura-malone/2/145/893
  11. I had a through-the-mail autograph success today from Susan Keith Kiberd, who is probably best known in the soap world as Shana on Loving, but originated the role of Cecile on AW in 1979. Not only did she autograph the photo I sent, but she also sent back a lovely, handwritten note. I had never known that her longtime hubby James Kiberd (always known to me as Trevor "Uncle Porkchop" Dillon on AMC) had also once been on AW, in the late 80s. I will email the images to Carl so he can get them posted here, but I will tell you that she wrote of their soap days, "Good times. Still friends with many of our soap families. Life is good!" Cecile may have been a nasty piece of work (especially in her original inception), but Mrs. Kiberd is a doll. What a sweetheart. Laura Malone (Blaine, 1978-1984) has been a lawyer for many years, for such heavy players as the AP and Getty Images. Since November of 2014, she has been an attorney at the Seattle headquarters of Zulily. Here is a current photo of her on her LinkedIn page. She looks wonderful!! https://www.linkedin.com/pub/laura-malone/2/145/893
  12. I know that it is hard to imagine anyone other than Jane Wyman playing Angela - but if she never was cast in the part, who else do you think could have played Angela?
  13. Bibi Besch - the future mother of Samantha Mathis.
  14. Yeah, and after that he did guest appearances on shows like The West Wing. One of my favorites was his cameo in the movie Troop Beverly Hills. That was too funny. LOL
  15. Soapsuds and khan, you'd do a much better job than many of the "professionals"!!
  16. Thanks again so much, Carl - so we could all read, as the late, great Paul Harvey would say - the rest of the story.
  17. Today I had my first through-the-mail autograph success with a Loving cast member - Susan Keith Kiberd!! She graciously signed the photo I sent and with it a lovely, handwritten note. She was very quick - only took a couple of weeks. I'll send the images to Carl so he can post them here. I've seen more of her work as the first Cecile on AW (thanks to YT) but not much as Shana. One thing is for sure - Mrs. Kiberd is an absolute doll.
  18. They really did make my day. I went to my library a couple of hours ago because the hold I had on Kate Mulgrew's book came in, so I picked it up. I haven't started it yet, but probably will tonight. I'll post my thoughts on it here when I finish!!
  19. Thank you, Carl!! I will alert my friend right away.
  20. The wonderful Christopher Norris!! My mom was a viewer of Trapper John, M.D. and remembers her well from that show, but was not aware that she had done soaps (CN also originated the role of Penny Davis on The Doctors).
  21. My friend posted the photo on The Doctors page, since that show is where he had his longest soap run (1970-74), so you can see it here: http://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/27061-the-doctors/page-108
  22. Thank you, jam, for posting the picture, and Paul Raven, for the info.
  23. Tell me about it. I LOVED that site before it was bought by TV Guide. That's when Jump the Shark completely jumped the shark.
  24. Carl, would you or anyone else here happen to have Part 2 of Jim Pritchett and Lydia Bruce's life stories from Afternoon TV magazine? Part 1 was in the June 1974 issue, I believe. My friend only has the first part - not the following issue that completes the stories. He believes that Beverly Penberthy and Michael Ryan from AW were on the cover of that issue. Thanks in advance for helping!!
