  1. I couldn't have said any of this better than you just did. It's a shame Becky Herbst never won an Emmy for her excellent work. You could feel and almost taste Elizabeth's sheer terror.
  2. ...and subpar writing. If you have good writing, that can make up for a lot which you lack in budget.
  3. Oh, that clip sure brings back memories!! I can't believe that it's been over 20 years since The Morning Exchange was cancelled. Lynda Hirsch and her soap segments were always a draw. I've always been proud to say that Lynda Hirsch is a fellow Cleveland girl. Thanks for posting that, Carl. 😎
  4. They all look like refugees from the set of Kung Fu. 😂
  5. Doesn't TT also sing? I thought that she also has (or had) a recording career.
  6. That's so true. A month after GL aired its final episode, I and my 300-odd co-workers lost our jobs when our call center closed its doors for good. Finding work at that time was no picnic.
  7. My pleasure! I too wonder why they didn't wait to take the photo until more cast members were there.
  8. Thank you, Carl!! I was able to use my Pixlr app to make those two files into one photo for everyone. ☺
  9. Yes, and it worked perfectly.
  10. She needs to come back to SVU!! ☺
  11. Yet another thing that would never happen today.
  12. Ironically, he played Carolee's obstetrician - Dr. Steiner - in late 1971. He performed her emergency C-section and delivered Stephanie.
  13. Mona and Barney might have been fun. She was a wealthy socialite who lived in a mansion, while he was a blue collar bartender who lived in a basement apartment. Champagne meets beer. I wonder if TPTB ever thought about pairing them, but the show burned through about a dozen writing and producing teams those last few years. If it was an idea bounced around, it probably got lost in the shuffle.
  14. I'm surprised at how well this book is written so far.
  15. @DRW50, Carl, would you please repost the cast photo from the late 1970s where they are in the astroturfed backyard? Thank you!!!!!
  16. If this doesn't turn your stomach, nothing will. 14 sexual predators are arrested in a sting operation - among them, a preschool teacher and (get this) a rape counselor. I am both infuriated and sickened. 😠😠😠😠😠 https://www.google.com/amp/s/fox8.com/2020/02/04/jackson-township-police-nab-sexual-predators-in-sting-operation/amp/?fbclid=IwAR0EMzAEUpKVDXQm-zPkopzsN8rhwL8X-ehL2ja7qa09n4PbRRQTwqZm7pA
  17. Thanks for sharing the link. What an incredible story. Hopefully, Catherine has found the peace that eluded her in this life.
  18. 1. Doreen was shipped off to an asylum for the criminally insane (yes, those were the exact words used). Her maiden name was Fleming. Earl Rowe guested in 1977 and 1979 as Evan Fleming, Doreen's father. 2. Yes, we did see more of Carolee and her mother Emma's extended family besides MJ. When MJ married Tom Carroll in 1977, we were introduced to her many siblings and their spouses. The pre-fame relatives were played by Carol Potter (90210 & SUNSET BEACH), Dan Lauria (THE WONDER YEARS) and Chris Goutman (future director and EP of soaps, of course). 3. Mona got engaged to Dr. Winston "Win" Croft (Philip Sterling) onscreen in 1973 and they left town together to get married. Meg Mundy (Mona) returned to the show in 1975. Her marriage to Win ended a few months later when she became so preoccupied taking care of Steve and his kids after Carolee disappeared in early 1976 (really kidnapped and stashed in a sanitarium by Ann Larimer, to facilitate Carolee Campbell's exit from the show). The last straw was when she moved into Steve's house. Win, played by a different actor, gave Mona an ultimatum - him or her family. Needless to say, Win was history. 4. The name of Jason and Steve's father was Jonathan. He had died years before, and unlike modern soaps - the show never revived him. (Though they might have if the show had never been cancelled!!) 5. Michael Paul was Mike's only child. 6. Billy wasn't really portrayed as a villain until Alec Baldwin came on. His predecessor, Shawn Campbell, played Billy as more of a slacker. 7. According to some soap book (I think it was All My Afternoons), the show was set to recast Toni but the plans to do so were ultimately scrapped. Toni's body was never found in the plane wreckage (of course). Had the show continued, they probably would have explored that loose story end.
  19. How long was she on before Cady replaced her?
  20. That's where they lucked out having Joe Mascolo playing Stefano. He knew the material he was playing was ridiculous, yet he played it with gusto and a wink to the audience.
  21. Maybe that should be her screen name!! 😉
