That was all retconned. She went off the cliff, appeared a couple of times as a ghost when Josh started dating Annie, then was discovered in Amishtown with amnesia. The San Cristobel story was invented later.

So is there an episode actually missing, or it just threw off the numbers because one is doubled?

Looking through their post history, some of their links to their folders still work, but for 2000 they only had July - December. They are Australian episodes and they wanred that they might edit curses and fights. Even DVD sites I know of don't seem to have early 2000 B&B. Not sure why it's so difficult to find.

I've been thinking about it too and I wonder if soaps will be given as much grace as in the past. Movies can pause production. Primetime shows can push back the season start. Talk shows and comedy shows can show reruns. Those are all not ideal, but they can be done if production must stop. It was always different for daytime, because daytime dramas were pretty much the one type of program that HAD to have new content every single day without reruns. Particularly with the strike in 2008, there were very real concerns that if the soaps shut down, there wouldn't BE a show for the striking writers to come back to. There was perhaps an understanding that although being a scab was controversial, someone had to take one for the team and do it because the shows had to run. The genre loves to complain that a couple of preemptions for OJ's trial killed it off (which I think is BS, but is a commonly accepted argument/excuse), so shutting down production for months would be fatal. Now due to COVID, it actually happened. The four soaps had to stop production and three of them went into reruns because they didn't have enough in the can. And they all survived. I have not taken a good look at the ratings to see how they bounced back, but they did stabilize after reruns stopped. I thought for sure we'd lose a soap to COVID. Days got pushed to streaming but it's the only show that had new material the whole time! It's shown that it's possible to temporarily go to reruns and come back. The reruns temporarily hurt the bottom line (which, in the case of a strike you want, to put pressure on the negotiation), but the shows survived. It seems to be that in this case there is an argument that letting the soaps stop production would hurt the networks and production companies for a while, bolster the argument for the writers, but not completely kill off the genre, and that's a stronger argument for not scabbing.

Some highlights: He originally auditoned for the role of Matt Reardon, but they called him back in, no audition, to play a young businessman. They didn't tell him he would be playing a rapist and he thinks that's because they didn't want him to play it a certain way. He had seen a clip of Rick Hearst and wanted to work with him so he was excited that Brent was involved in Alan-Michael's story. They remained friendly for years. He watched Rick and Sonia's interviews with Locher and enjoyed reliving those memories. It took 3 hours to do the Marian makeup. At first, he also wore a corset/girdle, but that was done away with quickly. The Italian voice actor joins the chat and they play Frank a clip of his work. Frank thinks he did a better job with the female voice than he (Frank) did. He is asked why he was replaced by another actor. He calls it a nervous breakdown but it's not exactly as it has been explained. He was working really hard and could no longer function on set. He was having difficulty in his personal relationships, and having a crisis of faith. It was a deeply spitual thing for him. The producers were good about it, and actually asked him to sign on for another year. The storyline would have followed him to the mental hospital where he would have worked with the actress who plays Abigail Blume (Amy Ecklund but I think he refers to her by a maiden name). I'm not sure if he means the character, or the actress in a different role. This would have led to a friendship and possibly a relationship. He just felt the he couldn't take on the work at that time but that's a big regret because he was friends with the actress and would have loved to work with her. He doesn't see how Brent could have been rehabilitated, though. They asked if he was ever asked back again after that... he was not. He never had any additional contact with production, and there were times when he would have considered it, but basically he was off, in his words, being a hippie and practicing Buddhism.

That's a very funny anecdote about the heart attack. I'd love to know if Jack kicking Victor's hand was in the script. I bet it was. PB was implying on the 50th Special that he came up with it on his own, but I'm certain it was Bell. The cage storyline still feels so off brand to me. I thought the switch to Nikki made it more interesting. Edward gave off "incel" vibes before that was a thing. The recaps had him going to watch her strip, being revulsed but turned on. At one point I think he enters their house and cuts up Nikki's stripping costumes. In the end, he wanted to make her pure. Welcome! I have been enjoying them. The early 1988 clips include the infamous "Cricket selling kisses" scene, haha. Those two always provided light fun to balance out the drama. I was watching the 1988 ones and honestly, I thought LLB's acting was pretty decent during the Jessica scenes.

Thats the house Mariah and Tessa are living in (but we haven't actually seen them there).
