Today's "classic" clip is Paul & Christine moving into their condo... are they just trolling us? 😅 I mean it's a cute scene and all. Does anyone know what year it's from? https://www.cbs.com/shows/video/xhjwQnpSppvIgIku_4DRNimaFbGeTdcL/ The clip is there from July 1983. That's all we have. It was posted on YouTube.

Do they honor the timeslot by not showing the trial and just having the newscasters talk about the trial with a brief snippet of someone remembering their own testimony?

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
The Vault has not been working or accepting uploads for several weeks (both the B&B and Y&R/GL vaults). I spoke to @ChickenNuggetz92 and he said he will have to change it over to a new account again, which takes some time. So I guess once that is done we will get a big batch of episodes all at once which is what happened last time. Of course if some angel wants to share via mega/dropmefiles/mediafire etc that would be wonderful and appreciated.

Thanks! That document is interesting. I had the impression US breakdowns where a little more detailed than this, with even bits of dialogue thrown in.

Y&R February 2023 Discussion Thread
I hope they don't do a cast cull, because I can guarantee whoever they cull will be the opposite of what fans want, nor do I expect them to bring in any interesting young new talent to replace them. Whatever they do, it will be in true anti-climactic Josh Griffith fashion. There won't be a serial killer. The characters probably won't even leave town. They'll just get dropped to recurring and continue to have non-storylines just like the contract cast does. They'll be seen here and there for random visits like Amanda. And even those that leave town, like Ashley who apparently lives in Paris, will be around just as often as when they were living in town, again just having random interactions, but no real story.

You could probably pass legislation with less people approving. Good grief.

The whole thing is just off. Nick is acting like a dad to a scared pregnant teen who has no idea how this happened.

Y&R Fires Entire Breakdown Writing Staff
Well, Y&R already has no storylines, no sets, no memorable music, and no artistic direction. The cast and the rich history of the characters is literally all they have so they'd better preserve that.

Yes, that's what bothers me too. I think if you took Y&R's cast, GH's production budget, and decent writers who cared, it would still be possible to make a compelling soap in 2023.

Thank you! The context is helpful. So I suppose it makes more financial sense to consolidate all of these positions (he's also EP isn't he, lol) into one person and one contract and just pay him per breakdown.

Are breakdown writers full time positions? Why don't they just make it a contract gig with no benefits? Or is that against the union's rules? I'm assuming Griffith isn't taking on the extra work for free, so he's being paid something, but not as much as the invidual writers would make? And that's allowed by the union?

Josh will also be the show's only extra. He'll be seen wiping the counters at Crimson lights, serving drinks at Society, taking reservations at the Grand Phoenix and will don a cop or surgeon's uniform as necessary (housecalls only).

It's like those consultants that are brought in to sell off pieces of failing companies. If the cuts to the budget exceed the lost revenue from slipping ratings, it's a win.

The good news: the show will be one man's vision. The bad news: Josh Griffith is the man.

Y&R promo week of Feb. 20: Adam/Sally/Nick
Devon cut off Tucker because he figured out that Tucker had sent Audra to spy on Chancellor-Winters. She was there to work on the IPO. Something about them having the same ringtone for each other (stupid) got Devon to dig into Audra and he found out that her student loans were paid off by a company named similar to the first song Tucker ever produced and he made the connection. Around the same time Ashley found out that Tucker was also getting information from Diane about Jabot.

Y&R February 2023 Discussion Thread
So if Heather has a man in Portugal then I guess she's not sticking around. I don't see why they needed to saddle her with a relationship. Would have been better for her to just tell Daniel that after his anger issues, she realized she preferred being alone. That would leave open the option to chem test her with the current Adam. The actress who plays Lucy did a good job, but I hope they don't write her as a generic blonde like Abby, Faith, and Summer. As Sheila's granddaughter, she could have an edge.

Nikki mentioned she was planning a Genoa City bicentennial celebration. I hope they announce more!

The tone of your favorites soaps
I agree with this. Classic Y&R's humor comes in the dialogue and the looks between characters.
