The Young and the Restless: March 2023 Discussion Thread
Somebody could probably make a montage of Devon being walked in on while cheating. Didn't Neil walk in on him and Hillary when he was blind?

Eric Braeden drags Eva Longoria for her comments about working in daytime
Thank you for explaining the additional context. That does help explain her immediate reaction to the clip. I remember that. I mentioned it in the other thread. She was making fun of how the scene was directed.

She does sound dismissive. She starts out cackling that they shouldn't show a clip (admittedly a dumb storyline) then talking about how she was making more money doing whatever remote job she had out of college which is kind of implying that career soap actors are losers. All they said is you started on a soap and the only thing she could think to say is she had another job and was so embarrassed they would find out she was a dumb soap actress. His reaction is vintage EB but his interpretation of this as denigrating the genre is spot on IMO.

I remember Eva on a talk show making fun of the director for the scene when she tried to down Cricket, how he kept telling her to make sure the knife catches the light, or something. As if it was so stupid that a soap would try to stage something artistically. I never ever understand how people try to validate soaps with the fact that so many famous actors got their starts there. I honestly don't think most of them are any more talented than the actors who have been on soaps for decades. I mean I don't think anyone would rate Tom Selleck, David Hassellhoff, Eva Longoria, or Shemar Moore as the greatest actors to have ever been on Y&R. They were in the right place at the right time, got on the right series, good for them, but they aren't all that impressive. I don't think Demi Moore or John Stamos hold a candle to most of the GH cast either.

Y&R - Returns for 50th Anniversary revealed
They could have done the anniversary of the founding of Chancellor. Devon and Lily awkwardly host a party amidst their current disagreement, bringing tensions to a head. Their aunt Mamie comes to the party. Danny performs because he's doing the video game music and invites Gina. Leanna reports on it. Lots of opportunities for vintage 70s and 80s clips of Kay like the scene where she delegates authority to Victor. That would have been more organic.
