Some companies have pre-uploaded their content to be digitally scanned so that anytime you upload their content, it knows automatically. That's how YouTube knows the music in the video before you publish it. I didn't know that even Russian sites do that now!

There is an issue with the vault as noted above, but for me, the videos still work. You may have better luck downloading them.

Would not mind them bringing back Cole for a couple of scenes. LOL ok now it popped into my head that JG could do one of his awful standalone dream episodes with Amelia Heinle and bring back J Eddie Peck, Scott Reeves, Thad Luckinbill, and Don Diamont... ugh, nevermind...

I think something like that happened when Y&R was preempted by Jimmy Carter's press conference on 3/2/78. There was dead air for 15 minutes before his speech and CBS was mad!

Interesting. I was thinking they are trying to stretch out pre-strike episodes, but apparently not, since some scenes never aired at all (and hey, I don't mind Devon and Abby, but I'm fine with skipping them having couch sex in Katherine's living room). Maybe those are for international broadcasts with less commercials. B&B used to (not sure if they still do) broadcast a bonus scene online that was included in the Australian episodes. It's funny to me that they can't even afford extras, yet they have time to film scenes they don't even use.

I've never heard of them doing that. I know B&B has bonus scenes and airs a longer episode in Australia. How do you know those scenes were supposed to air?

So amazing to finally clear up this Iran-Contra mystery! I don't think he reads here frequently, but I know that @feuxdelamour was looking for this information for several years! And of course if @Brolden is still doing his ATWT full episode list, he needs to check out all of these 70s and 80s posts! Such a goldmine for all our soap historians ( @JAS0N47 is in the hall of fame!)

Thank you! Definitely the one I've been waiting for. After all these years, to see that the shows were preempted by... Card Sharks?!? Price is Right?! 25,000 Pyramid?! I get it, it's easier to broadcast that stuff when the hearings keep interrupting things, but it's so not what I ever expected! If it helps, I had saved a couple of posts from this thread in the past. On page 23, user @VanessaReardon posts that Y&R only aired Monday that week. And on page 24, notes no preemptions for any show the week ending 8/7/1987. This is based on the weekly ratings info, so I'll be happy to get confirmation when Jason posts the day by day ratings, but this gets us very close!

Nice! Maybe it will be a backstage one with the actors breaking character, so she can talk about her parents. One scene I would like to see is the cameo Bill Bell made during her wedding to Danny which ended up on the cutting room floor!

Yes! I like her, and she has lots of great connections to the Abbotts, the 80s teen scene and Danny, Katherine, Lauren and Scott, the Newmans, the Williams, the Baldwins, Nina and Chance. She interacted with different stories much more than the average character. Lots of social issues they could bring up, too.

They could work the lack of sets into the story a little better. I was ok with seeing Jill on Zoom because Jess Walton lives far away and it makes total sense for Jill to meet with executives that way. It's cringe having Lily and Devon talk about all the floors full of workers at Chancellor - whose offices Chloe and Sally are now redecorating. 🧐 It would make so much more sense to just say they moved to a new building where everyone is remote except the C-suite. That office is all we see or are ever going to see. Somehow these people can work from anywhere, with many characters having no offices at all, but also, they often have to "come home/go to the office to pick up a file." It's so contrived. The business plots on Y&R used to have multiple layers. You had worker bees like Ryan, Neil, and Brad who had to strive for promotions. You had Jill waltzing into an executive position needing to prove herself. Victor and John were the founders of their companies who commanded a certain level of respect. Jack, Ashley, and Victoria were nepo-babies with varying levels of business acumen. You had models like Dru, Diane, or Cricket around interacting with these characters and involved in romances. The interactions and conflicts in the office correlated to personal lives. Another thing they used to do well was legal stuff. I was reminded of that when skimming through the Nicholas trial for Matt Clark's shooting and the Danny/Phyllis divorce and custody stuff. For whatever money it took to put up the courthouse set, they could really wring weeks and weeks of good drama out of that. Every day they would be hanging around court talking about strategy for the day, wondering who would testify, taking the time to go through testimony, then court breaks, then cross-examination, then debriefing after court. One set of characters in the hallway and the other set in the empty courtroom, strategizing. And there was really something at stake. GH is the hospital soap so they invested in a big hospital set which I assume stays up all the time. B&B is the fashion soap so they keep the Forrester sets and do enough for the ocassional small fashion show. If Y&R wants to be the business soap, they have to show more than 1-2 offices and the coffeehouse.

Speaking of confrontations, I just added the one from 11/27/95 when Dru goes to Keesha's place... the look of fear on Keesha's face when she opens the door and then Dru pushes in anyway... 😅

So just to keep everyone up to date, there's been a lot of 1995-1996 added to the Vault. @Bundy1965 added all available episodes in German and also helped me by figuring out all of the dates of a huge number of clips in English that I found on an old hard drive. And when I say clips, the clips are sometimes more than half an episode (it's over 365 clips) and about 50 hours total, so it's pretty awesome! The person who originally uploaded to YouTube mainly covered the Matt Clark/Nick and Sharon storyline ( @fivethej might be interested in that) and the Olivia/Nathan/Keesha drama (I think @yrfan1983 was looking for that) and mostly skipped the Phyllis/Danny stuff but there's a little of that too. And at least whatever is not there in English is usually there in German. I also added some Behind the Scenes stuff, old game shows, and Melody Thomas Scott's Intimate Portrait. Always hoping for more contributors to the Y&R Vault or if anyone has old VHS needing to be converted, feel free to DM me.
