  1. I was looking at some season 9 and 10 episodes and it pretty much became the Nicollette Sheridan show. I would scan through and the other characters would only have a few quick scenes and it was back to Paige again. I guess that sealed the deal with Donna Mills leaving. I seem to recall Michelle Lee complaining about being sidelined most of the time. The writers also didn't invest in the Williams family too much after the witness protection storyline. There were stretches of episodes where you didn't even see Pat or Julie. Lynne Moody complained in the press about her lack of story and they killed Pat off.
  2. Last year someone on youtube had all 14 seasons available. After about a month they were pulled. Haven't seen anything but clips since then. One thing I always thought was odd. Several people have uploaded several 1978 CBS promos for the premiere of Dallas, but I have never seen a promo show up for the premiere of Knots in 1979.
  3. Another World: Robin Strasser VS Victoria Wyndham George Reinholt VS David Canary Jacqueline Courtney VS All the other actresses. Y&R: Janice Lynde VS Victoria Mallory William Gray Espy VS David Hasselhoff Trish Stewart VS Lynn Topping Brenda Dickson VS Bond Gideon VS Deborah Adair VS Jess Walton GL: Cindy Pickett VS Carrie Mowery Lynne Adams VS Barbara Rodell Lynn Deerfield VS Maureen Garrett
  4. Lucy was just kind of pointless really. They burned through her backstory of being taken from her parents and acting out by the end of season 2. The producers/writers probably liked Charlene as a person, but they knew if they gave her a lot of heavy material she couldn't handle it. That scene after Mickey dies and she runs out of the house hitting Ray was just laughable. Not to mention the scene where she was taking drugs and Sue Ellen falls down the stairs and she is hovering over her. They could have Lucy pull a Karen Wolek. Tired of doing without luxuries she was accustomed to and forced to live on Mitch's salary. She starts " Entertaining" men during the day while Mitch is at work. Then some guy dies in her bed and things get ugly. I'm surprised they didn't do that type of story with Laura. She slept with Chip Todson to help Richard make business connections. Maybe when Richard got them into debt she started entertaining men on the side. She would lie and say she was selling beauty or home products.
  5. Lucy could have moved in with her Mom after Lillimae was gone instead of Aunt Ginny to help take care of the twins. Lucy could have had a fling with Eric Fairgate since she was divorced from Mitch a second time.
  6. There are also all the various Ed Bauers on GL and various Tom Hughes on ATWT. I think Tom was one of the most re-casted characters on daytime. There were also a lot of Patti's on SFT.
  7. It seems like I remember Ashley running into seedy Vince along the way. Maybe when she had her mental break down or when she found out Brent Davis was her father ?
  8. I heard that was how Andie MacDowell was discovered. 🤣
  9. Yes, there has always been that battle of stay at home vs working mom. I guess Abby saw herself at as "A Lady Of The 80's" who felt she could have it all and thought Val was still stuck in a time warp. Housewives were still a thing in the 80's and 90's, but I'm not sure how many exist in 2024. Those women who call themselves as housewives on those trashy reality shows do not count....LOL Jacobs always felt the Dallas characters never fit in on middle class Knots. Another factor was Charlene was a limited actress. On Dallas her storylines sucked pretty much and she was isolated from the main action most of the time. When they had her marry Mitch it was like " What do we do with them now ?" If they had moved Lucy & Mitch to Knots after they married, they would have probably had something gross like Diana Fairgate having an affair with Mitch and catfighting with Lucy. ( Claudia and Charlene's piss poor acting would have stunk things up). McCloskey wasn't that great of an actor either. He always sounded like he was reciting Shakespeare.
  10. It never made sense to totally ignore Lucy after the first few years of Knots. I read that Joan thought it aged her too much to have the constant reminder that she was the mother to a grown woman....LOL
  11. As for night time soaps: Dynasty: Pamela Sue Martin VS Emma Samms Al Corley VS Jack Coleman Catherine Oxenberg VS Karen Cellini Dallas: Morgan Fairchild VS Priscilla Presley David Ackroyd VS Ted Shackelford David Wayne VS Keenan Wynn
  12. That would have been a good ending too. J.R. all alone in the world.
  13. It would have been nice if Bobby and Pam could have had their happy ending as the series finale. The shows would end like the show began with Bobby marrying that Barnes girl.
  14. Abby was always referring to Val as suburban. In the 1997 reunion she walks into the Ewing home and tells Gary " I've always loved this room, it so suburban.
  15. I agree. It would be something that Karen would do notifying Jeff. Abby did interfere with Diana and Karen, so it would be another payback along with Olivia's drug problem. I never saw what David Jacobs did in Stacy Galina. They brought her back to the show after Jacobs expressed regret killing her off. Then again for the 1997 reunion.
  16. I saw an article that the Library Of Congress plans to screen the infamous "Lost" 1972 Jerry Lewis film " The Day The Clown Cried". The movie was never completed/released. The plot of the film is about a washed up circus clown during World War II that is used by the Nazis to lead a train of children to their deaths in a concentration camp. In the end " The Clown" joins hands with the children and he walks into the chamber deciding to die along with the children" For decades people asked Lewis about it and he refused to allow it to see the light of day and barely would discuss it. He said it was a bad film and a mistake. He eventually donated a copy to the LOC and stipulated it could not been screened till 2024.
  17. I can't stand to watch the Drew Carey version of Price Is Right. I grew up with Bob and the original Barker Beauties and the current show is just Sad. Johnny Olson and Rod Roddy were incredible announcers and really took pride in their work describing the products. " Dinty Moore Beef Stew ! Tasty real beef, with hearty potatoes and carrots in a rich brown gravy. Dinty Moore, It's a meal in a can" !!! George Gray: " It's a can of stew" It's a pack of gum. It's a cleaning spray, it's a bag of chips YAWN !!
  18. Thanks. I knew I had seen him on a daytime soap. He also appeared in a lot of commercials in the 80's. I agree. Abby's ex husband Jeff never appeared again. You would think he would pop again years later.
  19. The only thing we knew about Val's father was he was older than Lillimae and was friends with her father. She mentions it in her visit in season 1. I agree that those plots from early seasons of Knots & Dallas pretty much were forgotten after they played out. Heck, Knots divorced itself from Dallas after the dream fiasco.
  20. I have been re-watching season 1. In episode 3 " Let Me Count The Ways" Karen contemplates an affair with Diana's young teacher David Crane. This episode screams late 70's with the sets, clothes, etc...David's apartment set is the same one used as Cliff Barnes during this time. I laugh when David and Karen go into the bedroom and there is a suggestive poster of melting ice cream cone. It would have been interesting if David could have been brought back at some point. David James Carroll who played the role of David later passed away in 1992 from complications of AIDS. I gather he was more of a Broadway star and only acted sporadically on TV. I think I saw him on another soap at some point. Another World ?
  21. Charita Bauer was only 12 years older than Don Stewart and 17 years older than Mart Hulswit. Elevera Roussel was born in 1948, so Charita was 25 years old when she was born.
  22. I found this recent interview with Cindy Pickett. She talks some about Guiding Light.....she also mentions Sada Thompson was going to do a role on the show, but it was such a fast pace it didn't work out.....first time I heard of this. I always though Sada could have played Bert Bauer's sister. I guess it was for the best since she did Family.
