I agree that one of the main problems on B&B over the last 15 years or so has been the lack of follow through on the love stories. People change partners so quickly...and you know they will...that you can't get invested in any coupling really. I know that the "supercouple" formula has its own problems, but I believe there's a happy middle. Such as, I can never get invested in who Liam is with because we know he'll just ping pong back and forth. The Thomas and Paris thing is similar. First, it looked like something would be developed between her and Finn, and then bam...she's in Thomas' orbit the next week. Next week who knows? It could be Eric at this rate!

I didn't see Carter and Katie coming, but it might work.

I still think it's so odd that Ava and Tripp never interact. That would be a way to inject some conflict edge into him and the story. I would LOVE for Sydney, who's the most like her mother, to enter the picture and make a play for Tripp...sort of a retelling of Carrie, Sami, and Austin, the clueless dude in the middle.

The Sophia/Laken connection through acting could have been interesting. I still remember a scene where Minx is trying to talk Laken out of becoming an actress by saying something along the lines of, "It was an actor that killed President Lincoln." And, Augusta had the great comeback of, "Minx should know. She was there." The dialogue during the best years really sparkled.

Do we know why the original actress was replaced to being with? Was she let go? I remember the replacement only lasting a short time.

One of what I thought was one of the show's best and most unique characters was Flame. I was so disappointed when they wrote her out. She was an extremely complex character IMO. I still remember the shock of this sequence when Debra London turned into Flame AND we found Robert being held captive.

I always appreciate an umbrella story...but Abby and Chad as John and Marlena. LOL. I just can't. I also cracked up today when Chanel and Allie walked into the square after a hard day working at their bakery and looking like the LAST thing they had done was work hard at a bakery all day. And, who the hell takes care of Henry?

I read Agnes Nixon's autobiography, and I was disappointed that there was no mention of Loving. All the focus was on OLTL and AMC. It would have been so interesting to get her take on why the show struggled in the ratings.

I feel like my brain dies anytime Chloe, Phillip, Brady, Rafe, Ava, and Nicole are on. It's straight up snoozeville. It's odd that they NEVER have Ava interact with Tripp, too. Maybe put her back in her son's orbit and have her inspire an edge in him.

TPTB don't seem to know what to do with Katie. I'm really hoping they don't go the Eric route. Good Lord...the man has had the mom and two of the daughters already! She needs a fresh love interest around her age with a brand new character...as does Bill IMO. Aging Will to a teen also has possibilities to shake up both characters. Write out Shauna, Flo, Wyatt, and Justin to free up budget and bring in some fresh characters. It's still ridiculous that we have a show about the fashion industry with no gay characters and a show set in Los Angeles with no Latinos! Zende is hot as hell yet they haven't done much at all with him. Diversity is where it's at in storytelling now and B&B needs to get with it to stay relevant. No one believes a show about all straight male fashion designers in 2021! A future Jack/RJ rivalry writes itself with all of its messy history.

EM seems like a great guy, and I really enjoy him as an actor generally, but you are dead on....Brady is so played out. He just bounces from one woman to the next...then back to Chloe...then someone else. I would either rest the character or have him be supporting for a bit and mix him with different characters...or John and Marlena...or in a story with Belle.

I could do without Rafe and Ava. I just can't get interested. And, with that $$ new blood could be brought in. I think both actors are great, but the characters just seem played out. I would still love to see Sarah and Jennifer brought back full-time. I really enjoyed Sarah/Xander, and I LOVED CM as Jennifer. For the first time in years, Jennifer was compelling. I also think bringing in an aged Sami-like Sydney would be a great move. I could see a Tripp/Sydney/Allie triangle that would give Carrie/Austin/Sami vibes. Of course, you'd have the Johnny/Chanel complication, too, for them to mix it up together. And, I'd bring back Theo full-time. That would give them 6 younger leads for the next generation. I don't count CIN. All they do is have sex, and Ciara tells him it's okay he's a serial killer. And, I still say that Johnny looks suspiciously a LOT more like Lucas than EJ.

I liked both the OLTL and AMC reboots. They were just a tad ahead of their time. I think if they had appeared streaming 2 to 3 years later it would have worked out better. I really enjoyed Jack and Nikki's first marriage in the 90s. I thought they had great chemistry. Victor is quite abusive, and I've never seen the appeal. I often thought a great retcon would be that Jack and Nikki's child survived the miscarriage, but Victor arranged for it to be taken away.

CIN = I know neither of us have a decent job, you're a serial killer, and we've been back together two minutes but let's drag a baby into the mess that is our lives!!

Cin is definite FF for me. All they do is have sex and Ciara tells him how wonderful he is despite the fact that he's a serial killer. But, it's all okay since he's "not that person anymore."

Because of the low guarantees for actors it's so hard to maintain storyline momentum. Just curious...does anyone have insights on what are "common" episode guarantees for actors on DAYS now? I believe I read that KA had the highest guarantee of all the actors before she left the show.

Tripp had more of an edge in the beginning, and I think he was much more interesting then. How is Ava's son suddenly so bland? But, then Ava and Rafe are as exciting as watching paint dry, too. Again, don't care at all about Brady/Chloe/Phillip reboot 8.0. I was happy to at least see Vic. Where the hell is Maggie?

As much as I like Heather Thom, I don't see a reason for Katie to be on the canvas full-time. There's really nothing for her to do, and I think the writers just keep putting her with Bill because they don't know what else to do. But, Bill has always been more interesting without Katie. Also, I don't see the need for Shauna and Flo, either. The money in the budget for these characters could be used to bring in some fresh new characters. I often thought that Felicia would be a good match for Bill.

I think the devil taking over Belle (after Doug) before Marlena would have be a nice twist. I can see Marlena totally sacrificing herself if it was her daughter's life.

Wow...I totally forgot that MM and BB are on contract until you mentioned it they've been so MIA. I'd rather see them than Chloe/Brady/Phillip Part 75. It'd be interesting to see the characters of Shawn and Belle in a real story for a change. I wonder when we'll see SR's Maggie again. I've missed her presence.

While I understand why they have the low guarantees now, it does really hurt the momentum of stories. Sometimes I feel that as soon as a story is hitting its stride, we don't see those characters for weeks at a time. I felt that way about the Gwen story. I really enjoyed it, but then there were HUGE breaks in telling it. It's similar for many characters/stories. I felt Jennifer played by CM was really on fire...and then they abruptly wrote her out....same with Sarah/Xander. I don't know if reducing the cast is the answer to free up more money to showcase the remaining characters more is an idea. For example, I honestly can't get into Ava/Rafe/Choloe/Brady/Philip at all. Those five actors together must represent a huge part of the acting budget. Brady is the only one I personally would probably keep around, but I think even he needs a break of sorts. His jumping from one woman to the next to the next has gotten old over the years.
