  1. Going by my bargain-basement knowledge of French, is that tweet saying that Pouille has lost his sense of smell?? Otherwise, it looks like he has no other symptoms.
  2. Before TIIC completely wrecked the show and the character by essentially studding him out, I thought Simon was one of the last truly charismatic characters to be introduced on the show, but like I said, the show found a way to ruin it.
  3. Rep. Underwood has been so impressive in just her first term! Yeah, I got the distinct impression that the farmers knew what was at the root of their problems but didn't dare speak its name aloud, for some reason. That's why I was somewhat taken aback at hearing a farmer say the actual words.
  4. Not to mention, that COVID-19 has really begun to hit those areas very hard (S. Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Kansas and even some parts of Nebraska). I wonder whether there will be a higher regard for science going forward. Some farms have begun to employ science and technology to help their farms run but those seem to be comprised of younger, mostly college-educated farmers.
  5. I've been saying for months that Alan should pass the "mic" to a moderator who is more knowledgeable about certain shows. It doesn't have to be permanent but in some senses, it would improve the quality of the discussions. In those instances, Alan could be the producer.
  6. Compared to the new astronomical COVID-19 infection rate numbers? I think more people/voters will be focused on this. The infection rates are at a new high, which is alarming and all but completely impossible to ignore. Also, there is more awareness of the destructive effects of climate change than even a few years ago. Just yesterday, I saw an interview with a farmer who openly discussed the effects of climate change on his farm. A couple years ago, most farmers would never publicly utter the words "climate change" but they are now because their farms are being ravaged and Trump's subsidies have mostly gone to farmers connected with agribusiness, i.e. wealthy farmers. Odds are that the focus is on the new COVID-19 numbers and the current surge. We all know that the media can only really focus on one thing, especially these days. Do you remember where that voter lives? I suspect that the number of people who feel the same way are legion.
  7. Sadly, there have always been threats against the lives of prominent Black people, particularly those doing the important work of social justice in this country. Thankfully, at least the FBI is determined to do its job despite the obvious lack of support from the White House.
  8. I wasn't sure what it was but I knew she was drinking something, lol.
  9. Oh yeah I saw that as I was watching the last 25 minutes or so, lol. I think that maybe Liz might be used to being in a three person discussion. More than that, perhaps her attention drifts a little. @victoria foxton
  10. I enjoyed some of the stories about certain storyline aspects but it was a little distracting when the phone rang, then Liz answered it and then I could see her talking.
  11. Did Liz look bored to anyone else? Admittedly, I probably only saw the last 25-30 minutes of the livestream but she looked like she was somewhat disengaged.
  12. When MS assumed that only Blacks would die, they did next to nothing about it. Well, obviously things change.
  13. In response to Trump's ridiculous comment that no one has done more for Black Americans than him (with the exception of Lincoln, according to him), then challenging anyone to name someone, an entire chain of subtweets has emerged on Twitter and some of the responses are pretty funny. In response to people who have done more for African Americans, this guy showed up on the list.
  14. The Empowerment Zones have been a boon for the wealthy investors and underwhelming for those that they are claiming to help. Trump was a bit more leashed but I don't know how anyone who watched that debate comes away thinking he did well. Joe Biden was coherent and made a clear case for who he is, what he stands for, and what he intends to do. Trump was unable to pierce that. Trump couldn't even answer the questions he was asked.
  15. I didn't watch the first debate bit Judy Woodruff from PBS' The NewsHour said it was a debate containing far more substance than the first debate. I am seeing similar comments in several places. Welker kept the debate moving but didn't let the candidates wriggle out of answering the questions. Trump still lied a lot but his lies were that much more glaring and ridiculous. He also made the time to insult entire groups of people with incredibly racist statements.
  16. Both Judi and Vincent seemed genuinely grateful for the reception from the fans over the years. It was entertaining and heartfelt. I liked how at times, both actors gently but firmly steered the conversation, so they wouldn't be rushed, as Alan can sometimes switch to other topics rather quickly. Did my ears deceive me, or did Alan sort of imply that there was something focusing on Beverly McKinsey down the road? Perhaps her son will be a future guest?
  17. I think this might be San Elliott doing V.O. but when he says to admit that "we made a mistake..." that deep bass of his voice ran right through me. Posting this for Elliot's voice, really.
  18. Okay, now that the service is flopped, I can now go on ahead and admit that, sometime ago I was queried about Quibi before the service launched. After an evaluation of the service, I was candid in stating that it was highly unlikely that I would ever subscribe to the service. It was never a good idea to try to have a paid subscription service largely composed of short videos, especially with YouTube already in existence. Just a bad idea from the get-go.
  19. His speech was detailed, incisive and vigorous and passionate.
  20. Honestly, I could care less about whatever enterprise SBC has got going but Rudy is so drunk off his supposed proximity to power that he didn't see the trap and FWIW, Stevie Wonder could've seen that trap coming. Marisa Tomei, God bless her once remarked that Giuliani wasn't for New Yorkers, he was for the tourists and the wealthy. That people could ever believe that Rudy was for the "common man", I just...am speechless. Someone once told me that Rudy was a jerk but he got things done. I would have liked to have spoken to that person again when NYC was in a recession by the final months of Rudy's mayoralty. Oh well, at least most of his supporters also knew he was a jerk too.
  21. Georges is a pleasant player, who I think maximized her game to the best of her ability. Towards the end of her career is when, I think, she played some of her best tennis in her career so while I was mildly surprised at the timing, I can understand that she may have wrung all that she had in her and may be tapped out as a result.
  22. Y'all obviously never knew Giuliani, who, imo has always been S.O.B. Even his own kids couldn't stand him mostly because of the way he constantly humiliated their mother. His personal predilections were happily ignored because he pretended to get rid of the mob (hint: he didn't). I won't even get into his abhorrent policies during his mayoral tenure. You all were snowed by his crafted image as "America's Mayor" that he cultivated on the backs of first responders and over the bodies of victims. Giuliani was at minimum a jerk who became increasingly intoxicated with his accumulation of power and at most a venal presence who lacked basic compassion for NYers who were not well-heeled and white. I lived in NYC during Giuliani years and if you think the issues that spurred the BLM movement didn't exist, just look up the names Abner Louima and Amadou Diallo. Chris Rock once "joked" that if you were Black in NYC during the Giuliani years, you could be shot while taking out the garbage in front of your own home. Most Black NYers during that time knew that that was only a slight exaggeration, but not by much. I don't feel one bit sorry for any embarrassment the man has coming his way.
  23. What happened to all the lower-ranked players that the ITF and ATP claimed were supposed to benefit financially from the resumption of the Tour? I don't see any of those guys playing.
  24. P&G?? More like, refuse to take their calls. Maybe if P&G got a big chunk of the proceeds, lol. P&G knows that final script was shite, which is why they don't care what happens to it.
  25. The only scintilla of interest I have in the GOP is to learn whose party it actually belongs to-- Trump or McConnell? At this point, as exemplified by the internecine battle over the stimulus, it would appear that it has to be either one or the other, as both men are working at cross-purposes at this juncture.
