As The World Turns Discussion Thread
From time to time, I love to watch classic clips and although I'm pretty familiar with what happened in 1986 (probably my favorite year), I'm a bit confused about one storyline and I hope someone here can clear this up for me: I know that Barbara caused that rift between Tom and Margo, leading them to a separation and to near divorce by pretending to have slept with a passed out Tom but why did she do this? Was she angry with Tom? Or Margo? Also, I don't remember how the truth came out of Barbara's actions. It had to have been revealed somehow. Does anyone remember? Why are there no You Tube clips of Barbara getting caught in any of the numerous schemes she pulled that year? There were so many (Shannon & Brian's wedding debacle, the whole Duncan affair, the affair with Tonio Reyes while outfitting his naive wife Sierra). Does anyone know if there are clips of Barbara getting caught? Because I've looked and can't see a darn thing.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
If that was a family portrait then that's kind of a sad one. When Gaby Hoffman mentioned finding Anthony Herrera intimidating, I had this image of him giving her one of those hair raising looks similar to what James did when he was trying to extract a favor out of someone, a 5 year old could easily be intimidated by that expression. Obviously, I don't know anyone of these people personally but when you think about the time she first remembers meeting him (1987), it was probably a pretty intense time for him as an actor. Not to make excuses for anyone not stepping up to fatherhood but sometimes actors have difficulty releasing themselves from an intense characterization. I don't know whether Herrera was Method, Meisner or whether his character in anyway resembled his personality off-screen but it may have been an intense time period. Too bad they didn't try to meet later on in their lives (it doesn't sound like they ever did) because they might have been in different places and maybe ready for some sort of détente by then.

I've been reading about this film for at least 6 months now and I told myself over and over I've got to see it very soon.

All My Children Tribute Thread
Don't know where else to post this random thought but: Anyone ever see that channel Bounce TV? It's one of those over the air channels that you can get with the cheapest of antennas but not by cable, but I digress. Over the weekend there was this 70s movie (seemingly of the Blacksploitation variety) called The Monkey Hu$tle and a very young Debbie Morgan was in the movie and her onscreen Mom was played by Rosalind Cash. Despite this, I can't say that I enjoyed the movie--okay what I paid actual attention to (I was doing like 3 other things simultaneously) but I found that the movie had almost as many unlikeable characters as the set of Y&R. I admit I wasn't paying full attention and I didn't see the movie from the beginning but the likeable enough characters just didn't have much story and looting played too much of a part in story. Not to mention the hideous outfits.

Unsung
Wow, thanks for this! I don't have cable and I got hooked on Unsung by watching episodes posted by some kind soul on You Tube but some disappeared. I'm going to check out this site to see if I can try to catch up on what I've missed. I'm going to try tvone.tv as well. I often get lost in the soap threads so I'm so glad I wandered into this one. Thanks!

A Different World (TV Series)
Jasmine Guy's figure still looks fabulous though. But they should definitely have Charnelle Brown on, if they do that reboot. The challenge is that ADW is supposed to be about the college experience, so there would probably be pressure to focus mostly on the students but I'm only interested in as much as they would integrate some of the classic cast with new characters. But I was not as invested in Lena James and most of those characters as I was in the first and second year incoming students. I wonder if Lisa Bonet and Marisa Tomei would ever do a cameo appearance? Not to stay, just an episode. It's always kind of cool that Tomei's character Maggie went to a (fictional) HBCU before it became a headline on Oprah.

A Different World (TV Series)
No one wants Cree Summer back?! I've heard for months about this reboot possibility (was well as a possible reboot of Fame, which would only work if it were more like the original 1980 movie and not the TV show or the craptastic recent movie). It's too bad that Jasmine Guy looks so, uhm, you know...these days because in theory, Whitley should return but Jasmine Guy looks a bit hard boiled these days (forgive me, I'm trying not to be critical of her looks). On a positive note, though, I could see Victoria Rowell on this reboot, though.
