@allmc2008 so sorry that happened to you. :(

You can share whatever you're comfortable with. Thank you for the little snippets, even those are interesting. To think the iconic "God, I feel so restless!" line wasn't in the original!

That original line he had was terrible. It's fun whenever you can compare an accomplished writers revisions vs their previous draft. It adds a wholesomeness.

Sorry if anything bad happened. I hope it gets resolved (not just so you'll share stuff) I put my foot in my mouth in another thread and still feel bad about it. So hopefully they will be good enough to apologise if they did something wrong.

    What a treasure to share.

I am fascinated by the choice of font.

I needed all three to apologize. @Vee wont.

You guys all lost me as  a source to the first 15 episodes but also the shows bible with Bill's notes and revisions.

And three version of the "Rags" bible.

    Along with:

    From Radio Era:

-Ma Perkins: Bible plus story outlines. Audition prompts for writers. Agnes Nixon's audition scripts based on the prompts.

-Joyce Jordan: MD Bible plus story outlines

-Road of Life: daily breakdowns that are written by Irna to Agnes with Irna's critique of Aggie's work.

    From TV Era

ATWT: Bible with first few scripts. Letters from Aggie to Corday. Brainstorming ideas of the show.

LIAMST: Bible with story projection that included Irna's full original plan had she not been fired. I find what she had in mind for Mia to be rather innovative.

AW: Bible plus first few scripts. Also, Aggie had each weekly and daily outline at her archive from the premier to her departure. I could have transcribed them upon request.

AMC: Bible plus character studies. First episode. 1974 projection -- which included a "movie of the week" idea and how she would have killed of Erica had Susan Lucci left. Also, Aggie's "AMC: The Early Years" feature film treatment. Megan Mctavish's long term bible from her 2nd run. This bible stretches all the way to 2002 with her ideas for the 30th anniversary. Megan McTavish's termination letters detailing WHY the decision was made (and her very colorful responses to the executives who wrote them)

What I listed was tip of the iceberg but you all lost out due to your cattiness towards me. Frankly, had @SFK not made the 'Lily Montgomery' comment in regards to me having autism I wouldn't have been set off. But, because my autism was insulted, something that needs to end in society -- abelism and autismphobia, I felt I needed to teach certain people a lesson. Also, it wasn't so much that a crass remark about autism was made but the fact that it was used to GASLIGHT me into thinking I was in the wrong also made me angry. Again, I showed those comments in the OLTL thread to others and they all said that you three were ganging up on me. Several pointed out that @Khan was quite the hypocrite as you guys were accusing me of being catty, yet, Khan chose to use a gif that evoked cattiness.

You others, such as @DRW50, who take the history seriously, I'm sorry that I have to close off all I have acquired. But again,

    Abelism has got to stop.

That's awesome. Did you have to go there to see them? I always wondered about it but I think you have to be a student?

I remember seeing some scripts from the Kay lesbian era and the notes as well as the stage directions do add a lot of context. It does read like a short story sometimes.

I'm so excited to read these! :D  I wish when I was in LA last summer I'd had found a way to visit UCLA Library and access the scripts, but it didn't quite work out! I would kill if someone found a way to make the entire collection available...wishful thinking of course.

Totally understand. I shared a few 1977 scripts in the Look into the Past thread, but wasn't sure about uploading the scripts directly. So I just did a synopsis and gave the front page details (Cast/Writers/Tape and Air Date) If that isn't too much trouble, I would say that would suffice and wouldn't land anyone in any hot water. Totally up to you though

Thank you for mentioning this...I, too, have some scripts coming from the same place (only the first page of each) from the 1979-1983 era and it didn't even cross my mind about possibly getting caught by uploading them. I'll definitely keep this in mind from now on.

I'll risk uploading these. I'll provide more all the information you all desire, I'm sure @slick jones is eager to record the cast data.

I'll only did so if I get an apology from @SFK@kahn @Vee @KhanDue to the bs from the oltl thread. I showed the messages to 10 different people and all thought I was ganged up on. I also didn't like the offensive remark regarding autism.

I have a great deal of other sources of gladly share such as the bible to LIAMST and the first few scripts of ATWT amongst other documents. I even have the bible to Ma Perkins.

    12 hours for the apology.

If you feel like sharing them, that would be awesome. Even if you can give us cast/tape & air date/writer info and a synopsis would be amazing too

I will soon. These scripts were that final version before Bill sent them to CBS. He'd write in Radio format and then they'd reformat in what was called the "Transcription Unit" of CBS.

So, they have notes in his hand writing and last minute line revisions. It's fun to study as you can understand his mindset.

You have the first 15 scripts of Y&R?! How has no one commented on this! 😮

Bc I got these are UCLA I'm hesitant on what I can share/upload.

The Snapper/Sally thing is great. Chris wouldn't screw with him on, if I recall, episode as they we're getting close on a romantic his side. She wanted to but ran off.

She confided in Leslie on her hatred for her upbringing. That scene made me cry. Almost every episode has deep moments that make me cry and I haven't cried over a work of written fiction in prolly 7 years.

Snapper then went to Sally to screw her as he was still horny from Chris.

Bill Bell went deep into Brad's training at the newspaper.

  6. 19 minutes ago, Khan said:

Idea: Reboot Y&R as "The Innocent Years," using Bill Bell's original scripts with updated cultural references, BUT...have all the Brookses and Fosters (and Sally) played by African-American actors.  (The Chancellors, Brad Eliot and Pierre can remain Caucasian.)

I have the first 15 scripts. I would be fun seeing how that would work.

New life for One Life Aug 4 1976

Qunlan adds actors as ABC show changes timeslot

More people. More work was the cheerful but resigned exclamation of Doris Quinlan when she contemplated the expansion of One Life to Live the soap opera she produces for ABC which expanded to 45 mins last week.

But she indicated it would be all worthwhile if the longer time period and changed place in the daytime schedule do all they are intended to do – which is simply to get higher ratings and more loyal viewers to draw advertisers

Quinlan has already added 3 actors to the show and is expected to add at least one more on a regular basis.Or at least the writing staff will, there are currently five writers working on the show under headwriter Gordon russell and one more will probably be taken on.

The producer is also looking for a young production assistant 'preferably male' she said although it is somewhat difficult to find such help because men are less likely to be able to type.

The three actors new to the show are led by ex film star Farley Granger. He plays the head of a family with Teri Keane as his wife and Jameson Parker as their grown son. An entirely new family gives the writers still another peg on which to hang storylines which is necessary if the serial is to avoid 'padding' a common problem in continuing stories and one which Quinlan wants to avoid.

Already, Russell and Sam Hall (they worked together on Dark Shadows and plot this series while the other writers do the dialog) have provided more situations for the series through introducing the Granger headed family before the expansion. Granger plays a psychiatrist, so there should be no shortage of stories for the trio.

Because of the shows physical location the show will continue to have to confine itself to four sets.

Director David Pressman found the extra 15 min required more than a 50% boost in preparation.

Pressman is working under some handicaps due to summer relief technicians for a network already manpower deleted by a heavy engineering drain from the conventions and Olympic Games coverage.

Although Pressman found his work increased by more than the simple mathematical formula, Quinlan thinks that after the shakedown costs will only arise by about 40% although she said no final figure had been arrived at yet and the network finance people had put no pressure on her.

The program had been budgeted at about $75,000 a week and final figures Quinlan estimates will rise to about $110-115,000 weekly.

The producer admits though she doesn't entirely understand the figures the network accountants come up with. She remembers with relish the time she used a nickel on a show and was charged 7c in production costs.

Perhaps more important than the expanded time, Quinlan thinks is the shows new place in the ABC schedule. No longer will it have to face the second half of NBC's Another World as it did when it was on at 3.30pm as it will now have the 2pm $20,000 Pyramid as a lead in instead of General Hospital.which now follows at 3.15pm.

She seems to think that Guiding Light on CBS and The Doctors on NBC will prove easier than the old opposition. Also CBS goes with All in the Family reruns at 3.00 and NBC Another world.

Changes aside Quinlan believes that soap operas are finally achieving the recognition they deserve. She pointed to TVQ surveys and other polls as indicators of the soapers popularity over the years. And she was quick to mention a growing tendency towards family drama in primetime as seemingly soaper inspired. But the strongest clue, she said, is the fairly new phenomenon of heavy fan mag coverage. And a syndie newspaper column by Jon Michael Reed now appearing 3 times a week in 80 papers is another indicator Quinlan thinks, of 'how powerful we are'

Can you please send me the actual name of the article and the name of the publication? I need the source for my research.

You're an icon! Keep on keepin' on, my friend!!!

Sean Kanan has gone on record stating he was not a fan of the writing during his return to General Hospital for the fiftieth anniversary. At the time of his exit, he stated this:

I was thrilled to be brought back to GH for the 50th anniversary and really enjoyed working with Frank Valentini, but I was not over the moon about the writing. Doing stories about panic attacks and relish was not what I thought I’d signed up for. I feel I brought everything I could to the character yet it was obvious they weren’t going to give me a great love story, which I found very disappointing.

Thank you. Sorry for getting onto the way you formatting. I had been in an terrible state of mind lately (eviction possibility and other stuff).

Is your username alluding to Grand Theft Auto?

Ron's blow up is clearly due to burnout. And we are 6 months behind the current writing. If he is burned out now that means the show is just going to get worse than it is.

  10. I acquired soap bibles from Bill Bell's archive. One was called, "The Many Ways of Love" that was written in the 60s for ABC. It was set in a department store as, according to the author (John Heiss), a high end department store is basically a mini city. Also, the hierarchy of a department story reflects an actual social hierarchy. But, the overall theme was within the title. We all want love but love comes in many forms (something like that).

He had another bible called "Laura" from 1964. He didn't write it but he was considering to be the HW. It was based in the fashion industry.

  11. @Vee

I never realized he did that with Viki tbh.

I toyed with writing fan fic in wwhich the fact that many cases of DID are (unintentionally) created after hypnotic therapy is highlighted. Families have been destroyed from the period where that was practiced as it implanted false memory.

Viki learns about a case and starts doubting her past therapy.

I kinda like to believe that Dorian orchestrated the 1995 story as the ultimate revenge but it seems to rocky.

Vee, for the record, I don't do much write from character as much as I write from theme (eg, all is fair in love/war). I write from purpose and I write to make a point.

I have the bible from Restless, AMC, Love is a Many Splendored Thing (Irna did an AMAZING JOB), LOVING, AW, ATWT...

Ma Perkins and a few other radio soaps. I also have Agnes' audition assignment for that show (and her audition scripts).

Point is that all soaps have the theme/purpose I'm talking about. When I come up with fan fic I incorporate it.

Restless was that: we all have the desire to surrender ourselves, physically and emotionally, to another person and we all have the desire to take someone for that purpose.

Restless did that with EACH story until LML.

PM me and well send you stuff

I think the ghost [!@#$%^&*] was really goofy - there were better ways to use each of the returnees, especially the confusing stuff with Rick (where Rick mumbles 'that's not what happened' re: the attic story, similar to how Ron Carlivati sort of just tried to fluff off the Viki-killed-Victor retcon on OLTL with zero explanation). But I loved the Audrey stuff and the Nurses Ball, minus Sabrina.

I'll never forget the Audrey sequence, because I could swear the applause for Rachel Ames was not scripted or was hidden from her. She looked genuinely shocked and touched. (Timestamped below)

I'm lost about the Ron retcon with Viki you referenced. What was that?

  13. Ron's gayness is a factor to me as, despite that about himself, he is highly offensive in regards to LGBT on the show.

An openly out and proud man shouldn't be having the devil possess a man and having the man experience homosexual behaviour. It sends this message: gays are evil.

Ron is the reason why the idiotic notion of a 'gay agenda' exists.

Then he again, he was an attorney and his court stories suck.

CM was great in ever soap she did which was all minus The Colbys but the Moldavian Massacre was Dynasty downfall. How do you top it? The Massacre never hit #1 though.

Interesting that Dynasty, Knots and the ending of FC was brought back to its roots and season 1 after all the madness in each show but it was a little bit too late.

What was Dynasty's roots though? I have watched the first 3 seasons but not sure if you can count Season 1 or 2. Granted, I didn't watch the show when it went to hell.
