  1. Morgan vs Taylor could have lasted years...having her lose the baby killed story...course Brad Bell has never been talented as a writer.
  2. I always wonder had Deakins stayed in the role when marland took over.. what he would have done with the character of Lily... because Deakins' Lily wasn't quite the spoiled brat that Bryne's Lily was.
  3. Michelle Stafford was a cast member in the last few weeks of it.
  4. They did dip into soaps with a brief soap called Tribes..but lack of network clearance killed it.
  5. That November 1984 episode was pretty strong.. and I think it really showcased a community feel. While it isn't Marland esque, I think it holds up pretty well. I'm also guessing Lindsay Frost was fairly new as Betsy.. with the haircut to mimic Meg Ryan's.. plus her being more perky (which you could tell wasn't a fit cause Frost played Betsy more serious and intense than Meg Ryan ever did).
  6. So should there be a slight shake up in the cast for next season on Jersey? I think adding a newbie with no ties would be interesting..an outsider view.
  7. I'm wondering if the Dobson's auditioned/applied to be head-writers for both OLTL and Somerset.. and these outlines/projections were their audition for the job?
  8. Weren't iris and Rachel friendly pre Mac? I know their sons were friends..and Rachel was always nice to Dennis and Iris was was always nice to Jamie.
  9. I'm happy Leeanne is leaving...now that the common enemy is gone..the fur will fly. Leanne wasn't enjoyable to watch. Imho
  10. I don't think the show did a good job recasting Thorne... it was quite jarring going from someone both tormented and possessive.. to someone so wimpy. Though I sensed chemistry between Thorne #1 and Macy in their first meet up, it seemed he was looking at her in the same way he first looked at Caroline in their first meeting. Not only did Thorne seem to change with the recast from episode 618 to 619/620... but I noticed Macy changed from being resentful of her mother to being her cheerleader. I admit I liked the edgier Macy, and am dreading the continual softening of the character as she and Thorne start their courtship/relationship (including the whole singing angle).
  11. Pretty Ashley is in these... how I wish she would be Ashley again (would be less expensive).
  12. I think having Jackie as a mother was an interesting plot point in the original series that didn't get explored enough though I thought Jackie/Fred breaking up was realistic since the two only got together because of the baby. However, I could see Jackie being an over protective mom because season 2 in the original show had Jackie being a good cook, being attentive, and in her element as a mom type of character. And I think keeping Andy's existence in this show and not being around could explain why Jackie always hangs out at the Conners... because he choose to be with his father Fred vs her.
  13. Till the mid 80s, Ada had her own stories and marriages..once she moved in with the Cory's..she became more supporting..but she co owned Mary's and than Paradise Cafe..plus had a brief fling with her old high school flame..who called her 'bubbles'. Rachel lost her sarcastic edge and drive once JFP took over. Oddly, she was the bright spot in the Jordan Stark story. She was again Rachel..with drive, saracism, and also lost the weird accent she adopted.
  14. My theory was always to show Frannie still had lousy taste in men...and I think the original reason she was probably killed was for the money (if rumors of the original killer being her husband were true).
  15. Today's episode 616...Thorne and Macy meet. I sensed chemistry and I wonder what might have been if the original Thorne had stayed on. Would they have lasted..or would it have even started with them?
  16. I love that new blood comes in
  17. So I'm watching the 1989 episodes, and I have to admit being confused with the Bill/Margo marriage. It seems like Bell reworked the story to insert Bill into the story since it doesn't make sense. I think Storm/margo were supposed to have that marriage... with Storm into her with margo will in love with Clarke. And I have a feeling Mick was supposed to be more sleazy hence the early episodes with Kristen seemingly not into men and being frigid.
  18. If they're spending so much time in post..maybe it should be a sign to Andy and co that Vanderpump wasnt the problem... why is Erika, Dorit and Teddi still in the cast? They should.have been cut a long time ago. While peeps hate OC...they at least know when it's time for someone to go.
  19. My mom, when she was alive, loved Zimme4 as NOLA, Echo, and Jodie on SB..but didn't like her as Reva. I did see her 1983 Echo..loads different than Reva
  20. After seeing how the show wrote Susan/kim's feud in the final years..probably best the show didn't focus on lisa and Lucinda as a feud in those final years. I've heard of Karen..all good things. Would she have fit into Marland's Oakdale? Would Diana?
  21. Katherine was an evil character.. and the way the show later portrayed her as some patron of wisdom was sad... because she did kill a man and keep a child from his inheritance. That's why I liked Bell's writing because he kept characters in story bubbles.. but they were so well-written that it never was an issue if some characters never interacted with one another. It's one of the reasons I never could get behind Marland's writing because it seemed like everyone interacted on his shows, even when it wasn't realistic. The early years of B & B were like this as well... but I noticed when Brad Bell took over B & B... that story bubble format went away and it seemed like everyone interacted and knew one another's business... when it wasn't like that before. Same with Y & R.
  22. Gina/Jackie had the most complex relationship... I think it was in season 2 that Chyka correctly surmised that the two were more like a mom/daughter bickering.. which both Gina and Jackie agreed with. Lydia was so dumb yet was funny to watch. She has a lot of interesting Lydiaism.. if you will.
  23. I think having Meg coming to Sunset Beach to kickstart the show was good..but I think had the show run longer than almost 3 years..she would have been cut.
  24. Season 7 was a more successful attempt at fixing the show than season 5 was..imho. Season 7 had a smaller cast, plus more interaction between all the characters like in the earlier seasons. Season 4-6 had too many story bubbles and not enough interaction between the cast. Was it perfect? No, but it was loads better than the previous season.. closer to season 3 quality than season 2 quality (season 2 was the peak with a perfect balance between soap and character study).
