The Joan Collins Fan Club
I was listening to a radio show and they played a brief song by a group called Reverb Motherfuckers. It's a brief soundbite from Joan, followed by Robin Leach saying "Joan Collins...always." They sent me an MP3 of it. It doesn't seem to be on Youtube anywhere so I guess it would be taken down on there. If anyone wants me to send them the file I will.

Yes to the first, no to the second. JFP and Pam Long made Rachel a killer. I think Pam Long wrote Claire/Fletcher...was she there for the sex with Ed? I think Jeff Ryder was the one who made Claire go crazy and packed her off. I'm not sure. I don't watch these very often but this one sounds good. I wonder what Jay meant about Buzz - they were on the show together for about 5 years.

Soap Hoppers: The Soap Actors And Roles Thread
No problem. I was afraid it got lost in the shuffle. I don't think there are any soap people in the Superior Court episode that channel also uploaded (I may be wrong) but it was very good (better than The Judge episode), if you want to see it.

@slick jones did you see my post in the Love of Life thread? I'm not sure if The Judge counts or not...

Written out not long before MSNBC has Peter Navarro on to spew bile. If Biden wins, he must work to crack down on the media conglomerates that have done so much damage to this country.

I wasn't searching for them until now - there wasn't much need to as this type of talk hung over cable news as well, especially CNN (which had everything from Chris Cuomo making sure to defend Republicans, to Rick Santorum and Van Jones on doing their usual shill routine, to that laughable focus group, to Chris Cilizza chiding everyone and whining about the "pageantry" of politics had been ruined). But we can agree to disagree. I don't see it as any particular media commentary against Trump - they have too much to lose.

That is exactly why they do it. And many times "undecided" voters are revealed to be Republicans - in some cases high-level Republican officials. They are just used to reinforce to us that "both sides" are bad and there is no point in voting. Which is exactly what the debate, and the media coverage of it, was geared to do. Biden should not have participated.- The Politics Thread
The CNN snap poll has Biden at 60%, but they did the same for Hillary. This is probably more accurate to the base, so I guess Biden could have had a worse night. These two tweets pretty much sum up where my head is at: Trump had two ways to win these debates - try to do the bare minimum of being "Presidential" and get fawning pundit praise (which I thought he might do), and rant and rave incoherently the whole time, dragging Biden and the press down with him in the same morass of "everything sucks, nothing matters" that helped Hillary lose in 2016. He also managed to solidify his base even more, while Biden opposing the Green New Deal meant that many of the paid fauxgressives like Ryan Knight could use the debate to further depress turnout. And of course some pundits are wasting no time in making sure Biden looks the worse of the two: The best to hope for is that most forget this debate and that the other two don't happen. The ugliness and Trump shaping the entire thing, along with the public reaction, around his toxicity happened in 2016 and could easily happen again. I wish Biden would just say "enough" and have no more debates. It doesn't matter if Trump shits his pants on stage - appearing with him will still give him the win. Nancy Pelosi was right. I know Biden had no choice but to debate, but she was right. There should have been none of what we got tonight. It played right into Trump's hands, even as our country falls further into the toilet bowl.- The Politics Thread
Psycho conspiracies all over about the debate - so even if Biden does well it will be spun as not genuine. I really wish he had skipped this. If he does win I hope someone working for him will crack down on Facebook.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

Much as I can't stand the man, I skimmed through this as it's the first step in the Beltway push to tell us Trump won tonight's debate. This will be the main talking point soon, so may as well be prepared.- The Politics Thread
He probably misspoke, but it cracks me up nonetheless. They may as well have one of them come out at a desperate attempt at pandering. It will probably be Tiffany, but Don Jr is the most believable as a trisexual type, especially since he has entered full Requiem for a Dream mode.- Love of Life Discussion Thread
@slick jones I'm not sure if this would count for your Soap Hoppers list or not, but this is an episode of The Judge that Elizabeth Stack appeared in (no mention on IMDB).- The Politics Thread

A haunting, but effective, promo. One of those moments where, if you have a long history with SNL, you realize just how fucked up this year is.- The Politics Thread
I hope not, but to be honest until November I can't let myself think otherwise. I just feel like we're living out the same scripts and I am left waiting for the last minute rewrite.- The Politics Thread
If Biden wins, I will agree, but at this point in 2016 many (I don't mean you) felt that the media narrative wasn't going to stick for Hillary either. Right now it's just deja vu for me, especially with the scandals that end up making voters tune out. I think if the election were held right now, Biden might manage to scrape through the EC (and win the popular vote, of course), but he's going to need more than that because a narrow win will be taken from him by the media and the courts. It has to be a blowout, and we're not in that country. So I am hoping that we are going to have some sort of positive surprise on Election Day, but if the media has its way, that won't happen.- The Politics Thread
I see that his flacks are using the debate as a reason to downplay the tax story, saying it was done just to make him look bad before the debate. I think that means they are going to use this to help not only lower expectations, but persuade the media to write easy stories - oh, Trump came back fighting. They were already going to declare him winner anyway, but now if Biden even breathes the wrong way it will be seen as a catastrophe. Logically, I know he couldn't have said no, but I really wish Biden wasn't debating. It's a trap. Regarding the tweet from that Craig person, I think it's exactly the problem of having so many terrible stories, many pushed and turned into tabloid melodrama by a press that generally likes Trump and profits from him. The nadir was their "Michael Avenatti for President" crusade. They have numbed much of the public to any scandals, and I don't believe this was done accidentally.- The Joan Collins Fan Club
Rupert Everett shares a story from his memoirs about the agonies of a film he made on Oscar Wilde. Toward the end he mentions that Joan was a true friend as she and Percy went to see his movie in spite of less-than-ideal conditions. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-8778837/RUPERT-EVERETT-tells-quixotic-attempt-reignite-career.html- All My Children Tribute Thread
Wasn't Bruce Thomas also briefly on another soap before being fired? Was it Y&R? Sabatino was incredibly charming, even if he was also a bit smarmy, which meant he often ended up as a baddie. Still, I'm not sure why they went from having him as roguish and dark but not a monster, to being such a cartoon. Just one of many questionable decisions the show made in 1996.- Your daily (or nightly) thought

After 2016 I don't quite believe the 10 points part - I do think he's behind, but the question is whether it's enough to offset the EC and cheating. I'm hoping it is. - The Politics Thread
