  1. It did my heart good to see Jerry and Maureen again, especially with Jerry's health problems over the years. Maureen is so much the same - how she never got snapped up in the '80s, when actresses like her were at their peak in pop culture, I've never understood. I didn't see all of it (I know it's archived) but I'm glad I got to see a portion. I hope they keep doing these and have more fan questions and so on.
  2. I'm glad Bernie saw the light and is bowing out. He could have been much more openly ugly than he was, so that is something. I'm sure Biden will be very gracious toward him, but I hope he won't make any attempts to win over Bernie's supporters. There is no real point. I go back and forth on Matthew Yglesias but he makes the point clear in this piece (and the tantrums and mind games in response just prove his point).
  3. I saw some responses to how Fauci responded to these questions yesterday - basically that he was dehumanizing and blaming black patients for their sickness. Whether that was his intent or not, it just reminded me of how catastrophic it is to have this happening with the current administration in place, as the callousness means even those in power who may care will have no ability to help.
  4. Nashville is one of my favorite movies and I can't really imagine it working as well as it does without Allen Garfield. Barbara Jean's husband is an incredibly insecure, weak man, trapped in a very toxic marriage with a woman he can't or won't help, but it's also clear that he loves her and can't imagine life without her. The relationship is one of the emotional cornerstones of the film and it - especially the ending - heavily depend on his work.
  5. This is very touching. @Vee
  6. Thanks so much for pointing that out. I'll enjoy that one later. I watched the first March 1992 earlier. I kind of liked Clay's chauffeur - I guess he didn't stay around long? And this is near the end for Carly and Flynn too, I suppose. Flynn might have worked as a longer-term character. Larkin is very charming, but he is a bit hard for me to ever get used to as Clay for some reason. Maybe because he'd been on so many other soaps, or because Clay seems so ill-defined. Dinah Lee's cycle of romances doesn't help. How long was this after she'd been brought on as a bad girl? I think the part I enjoyed most was Stacey being written as spunky and sarcastic, rather than the victim she seemed to be on most other occasions. The Wayne's World-inspired "not!" she had after Trucker left felt very fresh in a way you don't often get with soap heroines.
  7. Most of them barely manage to hide their love of Trump anyway. The pure glee many of them had over Trump trashing Biden at a press conference a few days ago was embarrassing. Trump is their ideal because he's "tough" the way Bernie isn't, and he's as selfish as they are. He's so completely grotesque even they can't publicly admit to voting for him, but many of them will. It doesn't really matter, as most don't vote anyway, and most of them live in blue states, so I wish they'd just be honest about what sick, twisted people they are, instead of just saying nonsense like "if Trump tones down the racism I'll vote for him."
  8. Congressman John Lewis endorsed Biden today. You know what that means. Racism galore, including white people using gifs of Uncle Ruckus in comparison to him. Another day where I'm reminded that I'm glad they will be completely irrelevant from any political voice, as they hate Democrats, and Republicans will just laugh behind their backs and then flush them down the toilet like the rotting turds that they are.
  9. I saw someone on Twitter in disbelief that Victor was saying "cool your jets." When I read that I wondered if it was the work of the man who gave us the iconic "cut the crap!" Was that him?
  10. You can see more with Hal here.
  11. Good. He showed himself to be a scumbag with his big statement to the crew about Crozier. It was obvious they would have zero respect for him, which is very dangerous.
  12. I'm so sorry to hear about what you and your loved ones are going through. Sadly I think that this may make people even less likely to believe anything will change. The response I've seen has been a lot of "both sides" and dismissal of the Democratic Party.
  13. This is murdering people for political gain. There's no other way to put it. They are murderers.
  14. She never even did anything. I wonder if she pissed off somebody. Useless drunk.
  15. I see George Conway trying to downplay it. I've always been wary of him so now I am even more curious of just how deep these ties go.
  16. I feel like Loving was a "because I can" soap more than a soap where the creators had any real ideas in mind.
  17. Someone is tweeting from his account but I haven't heard about him. Speaking of the Queen's speech, I have sort of become put off by the family after the way Meghan Markle was treated, but I thought the speech itself was beautifully, concisely written and very much suited to what we're going through. I didn't realize just why until I read this article that talked about the unspoken message telling everyone to leave the past behind. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/06/queen-elizabeth-coronavirus-address-168096
  18. Thanks. I don't think I've ever seen that one.
  19. How shocking. Absolutely shocking.
  20. The cultists are shocked that Jill Biden calls herself Dr. even though she is not an MD, and want to make it illegal to do so. (they have no opinion on Bernie's wife Jane, who, when she isn't involved in questionable land deals, calls herself Dr.)
  21. Thanks. Glad to hear Maureen will be there.
  22. I didn't recognize him from there. It turns out he played Kathy's married boyfriend in one of her dull late '90s stories. RIP to him.
