One Life to Live Tribute Thread
Speaking of old OLTL, I see that the Clint Viki love story videos, which had tons and tons of material (featuring them as well as many others in Llanview) from the late '70s to the early '90s, are now gone. That channel also had "other lives" type videos with stories of other characters. I wish I'd saved them.

Y&R to air classic episodes
They went back to showing episodes I don't really care about seeing again, but I hope some of the newer fans will be able to enjoy the Katherine and Jill catfight. A fun, crazy set piece.

More examples of rich people bragging about how they want others to die so they can go shopping. (she also believes Jewish people need to befriend Nazis)- The Politics Thread
I still think she and her husband are con artists. The ad he ran was effective but I just wish they'd go away.- Loving/The City Discussion Thread
Perry Stephens was fired. I think they wanted to change Jack's image or something. He passed away some years later. Thank you. I hope some of that period will pop up eventually, even if it sounds like a bit of a miss in recaps.- The Politics Thread
What gets me is the people who keep saying Reade has "more" corroboration than Blasey-Ford did. What they never mention is that this "corroboration" is very flimsy (her neighbor has said she only remembered after being prompted by Reade and her brother was coached by Nathan Robinson, who has been aggressively pushing this, to change his story). They also never talk about the fact that Eva Murray had "corroboration" from 5 or 6 people over an incident that has been completely and totally debunked. The only upside about any of this is if it leads more people to start tuning out the sick weaponizing of assault claims that has become so commonplace in the last few years. It's a very effective ad, if anything is still effective now. Many on Twitter were racing to talk about how terrible the ad was so that told me it had to be effective.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

(speaking of this, I have a feeling the White House and their usual enablers at the NYT put out exaggerated daily death totals [2-3K a day]) so that when it's bad, but not that bad, the media will say "well it could have been worse," and many will nod along)- Soap Hoppers: The Soap Actors And Roles Thread
Thanks. I tried finding her on IMDB but couldn't.- Y&R to air classic episodes
Based on some of the jeering from some fans about old episodes being shown (although I have at least seen some other fans call these people out), I'm not expecting much of a boost or incentive to air more true classics...but I never thought they'd go back to 1981, so hopefully they will give this material a chance and air more while we're still in this - or consider putting some out on streaming or what have you. If anyone ever told me that in 2020 CBS would be airing 1981 episodes and having Kate Linder ask viewers to watch Raiders of the Lost Ark, I would have assumed massive acid trips had become a national pasttime.- Soap Hoppers: The Soap Actors And Roles Thread
I just saw Mary Jay as a doctor in the July 15 1988 Loving episode. She looked so familiar to me. Do you know what else she was in?- Another World Discussion Thread
Thanks. Weird.- All My Children Tribute Thread
I did like Kelsey and the first Scott (Laura was alright until they had her spend all her time going around sneering and snarling at everyone for two years straight). The whole teen scene was a flop though, so much so that in a summer/fall '96 interview Francesca James (I think) essentially blamed them for ratings declines.- The Politics Thread
That the media thinks this complete failure, who couldn't even get a job parking cars in an administration he sold his soul for, is some kind of an authority on anything other than ugly beachwear (why isn't he sitting on those beaches right now??) is a mystery.- Loving/The City Discussion Thread
I didn't realize just how much effort was going into this Loving reunion - so many cast members from the early years. I don't do Zoom, it's just too risky, but I will try to follow the Q&A. I agree that seeing people take the time to do these is a wonderful gift - far more actors than I ever expected have participated. The genre has become so sour and broken that it's easy to forget about the special gift of a bond between soap performers and soap fans. I guess if any show exemplifies it, it's "the little soap that could."- Loving/The City Discussion Thread
Which character was Colby Cantrell? Holy cow, Mia Korf is in this episode! @Vee @SFK I see on IMDB that she's credited for a January 1988 episode (I never knew that) but this one isn't listed. I know this was discussed before but I still wonder why they replaced this Jeff.- The Politics Thread
I don't think much will change either, and the recent antics of Trump enablers like Chris Hayes show that the left is no better than the right, but I'm also glad he's gone. What he and Matt Lauer did cast a pall over NBC for years, one that will never go away. I still have such awful memories of Lauer's failed attempt at being a big boy journalist, grilling Hillary and kissing up to Trump in primetime. (speaking of Trump, I can't help being a little amused at how viciously he has dragged the hell out of Joe Scarborough recently. That [!@#$%^&*] and his perma-smirk girlfriend deserve all the scorn and more for what they put in the White House). @Vee I saw that about Trump's people worrying about his losing senior citizen voters. I have to admit I, like them, did think these voters were so loyal that even saying they should go kill themselves and also lose their social security would not shake their faith, but I'm happy if I was wrong. I just wish I believed they wouldn't run back to him. I saw that Ayanna Pressley seems to be supporting Tara Reade. I'm mostly just singling her out because I have a lot of respect for her (I'd much rather vote for her than Biden, if I had the choice), but I just don't buy Reade's allegations, and I think in the long term she (Reade) has hurt the cause of other women and survivors very badly.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Watching some of the early 1983 material is very surreal due to rapid fire character progression. I always wonder how viewers at the time felt. Over the space of two years, they had seen Nola go from a desperate, vicious schemer, ruining the lives of good people, to endearing comic relief waiting to her storybook romance, to a brittle central heroine involved in gothic drama and custody fights. Over the course of a year, Josh had gone from a vicious schemer, ruining the lives of good people, to a moralistic figure giving lectures on maturity. The latter must have been especially perplexing for fans - the ones who weren't just watching for how good his ass looked in tight blue jeans, anyway. Morgan has also been severely regressed, possibly because Jennifer Cook was on her way out anyway. It's a shame, as this whiny, insecure Kristen Vigard version suits her much more than the stiff, awkward woman Marland had tried to write her as the year before.- Another World Discussion Thread
Is that Christine Jones in the middle? Who is behind her?- Loving/The City Discussion Thread
Christine Tudor! Wow! I can't wait. I hope someone lets her know we've been watching these and marveling at her work all over again. And a 'new' upload too. Even better. And this is a strike episode, right? I can never get enough strike episodes.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
There were a few other factors with Lillian as well. Maureen had been her friend for years, and Lillian was supposed to be a morally upstanding character. Some fans still would have blamed her, but the show chose to make her a self-absorbed martyr in this period, with that silly letter used to expose the affair, showing up after the funeral to offer apologies no one wanted to hear, etc. I don't know how true it is, but I once read that the show planned to pair Ed and Lillian until they realized fan backlash was too severe. It may have been shallow of me, I'll admit, but I really could not accept Lillian after this story for years. I think it took at least 3 years. I don't know if one of the other rumors about Lillian is true (that Tina Sloan didn't ever really ask for a big salary because she didn't need one), but if it is true, that is probably the only reason the character survived those years until Beth's return.- The Media/Journalism Thread
