Oh I didn't know Harvey did that. Is the parody any good? I'd read about Rita Mae but never seen her. Generally the Opal-esque offshoots on other soaps didn't seem to work out (Nadine from GL may be an exception).

I may be wrong but I could swear Tina Sloan said at one point that GL planned to pair Lillian/Ed after Maureen's death, but the backlash was so vociferous that they realized it couldn't happen. So, combined with the "psycho Eve" story and the Mindy/Nick pairing tanking, I wonder if they put two and two together.

I'm not sure if we should start some type of conspiracy thread to keep this one clear, but this stuff demoralizes me so much - and it's just growing and growing, no matter what happens in November. At one time I would have said it should be ignored, but it can't be.

Buzz also had his share of story with Roger (during the Jenna/Roger marriage from hell) and later Holly (that weird "let's put characters together if they're the same age and we don't want to write for them" triangle she had with Buzz and Billy). I thought Peter Simon did a good job with Maureen's death and with the later Eve relationship, but I wouldn't have been outraged if he'd been recast.

I guess they have an audience, I'm sure they have their share of social media support, but I don't understand exactly what the appeal of that coven is at this point. I used to think Kyle, when I watched, was pretty interesting (more because of what she didn't let herself be acknowledged as than because of the image she tried to present oncamera), but I get the feeling she had some questionable facework done before this past season and that's made it difficult to watch her. Rinna, someone I used to respect, is just pretty much repulsive, especially exploiting her children the way she does. Teddi and Erika just seem to take up space while pretending they are more than they are.

Right now the polls are stable to slightly narrowing (there are also a lot of junk polls), in a way where Trump would probably be able to pull off another win if 2016 conditions repeat or if he has improved his support enough with non-white voters. What's going against him most is that he doesn't have the anti-Hillary or "nothing really bad can happen because of checks and balances" factors this time around, but it's going to be close. Susan Sarandon did say she was going to vote for Biden, but that doesn't really change her continuing to enable grifters and accelerants.

I never can remember the right times but for some reason I thought Kevin and his sister arrived before the strike. The main strike story I remember, beyond that dumb ghost filler, was that strange story with "Chris," the construction worker John slept with and she accused him of sexual harassment, then they found out she had lost her husband and son in Vietnam, and she kidnapped Donna and Michael's adopted son Mikey. The casting for Chris was especially odd to me - she seemed so spiky and butch. I don't know if it was strike people or Lemay who brought in the two borders at Sharlene's house, but they quickly disappeared. One was played by Michael Louden, who was quickly snapped up by ATWT as Duke. (oddly ATWT also had a dubious strike story about Vietnam, when Lien was held hostage by a Vietnamese man, or something)

Good find. He makes sense, and I think they did tease a death story for Rick around 1974 or 1975. It's not as if P&G had any issue with killing off legacy kids - ATWT Lisa's son was killed around this time.

The news about the DOJ shocked me, and I didn't think I could be shocked by anything with this fascist. Sadly, most people don't care - they never do. I was surprised to see Dave Weigel, who likes to tie himself to various far left and fauxgressive groups/people, retweet this. Ryan Knight is an especially desperate fauxgressive grifter who went from not having a problem with Biden and supporting Harris and Warren to overnight becoming a hardcore Bernie bro. He's now shaming anyone who dared to laugh at the floatilla fiasco and he is openly pushing third party votes. Maybe some with basic common sense are starting to see just how much damage these con artists and attention whores do to their movement in the long term (none of them will say a bad word about Jill Stein, but she did unbelievable damage to the Green Party).

All that stuff about the great romantic Justin Deas makes me roll my eyes, although to be fair Fiona Hutchinson did say as much in one of her interviews. And I guess Margaret Colin would agree... I will never believe Deas or Buzz were needed on the show, but I mostly grew to tolerate him by the mid '90s. I'm just sorry, and still mad, about what he did to Nadine as a character. I think she left one soap because she wanted to go back out to the West Coast - can't remember if that was GL or AW. I always liked Eve - she was one of my favorites during her GL run. HATED HATED HATED her AW run. HATED it.

For some reason (I may be wrong) I think Michael may have only been intended as a shorter return, then when Laibson came in they made him permanent. I have to admit I don't think I would have wanted to see JFP's recast, although I will acknowledge A Martinez would have brought a very unique presence to the role of Rick Bauer.
