  1. 1980 is very dull, which is why I never have made it through yet, but I do love Cecile's scheming and her viciousness. Her diatribes against "poor Pat" alone are gold.
  2. I don't think it ever worked for the guy who played Brad either... I think it could work for some guys now but they are never properly maintained and they seem to be reluctant to let them grow out as much as the above guys did. Or they just want the full beard and mustache and look like they're from the Old West.
  3. I wonder if they will bring Olli back. What do you think of Sunny?
  4. He's gone out of his way to be as nasty and vile as possible through his years in politics - just earlier this year he thought it would be hilarious to, early in the time COVID was hitting nationwide, come to Congress wearing a gas mask to make fun of wearing masks; soon after, someone in his district died from the disease, I believe. He's also one of Trump's favorite Congressmen, as he is always up Trump's ass on social media and in the chamber. This all started because he was completely humiliated by a black Congressmen, Cedric Richmond, a few days ago. He blew up, and presumably decided to show off his "son" to the world to get cool points - most importantly, this "son" is Cuban, the one minority group Republicans don't want to see dead. It's also a clear attempt to play the "Democrats are the REAL RACISTS!" game that bigots love to play. He was just too stupid, and probably too hung over, to realize how much the whole thing would boomerang back on him and expose him.
  5. A good rundown of where John Roberts' head is at and the bad times on the way. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020/06/chief-justice-roberts-swing-votes.html @victoria foxton some hanger-on tweeted this creepy photo and suggested Nestor's mother is dead...yet a woman has been seen on social media tweeting that Nestor is her son. What the hell is all this sickness?? A few other people have summed it up well - this is the type of stuff that QAnon people obsess over. Yet they have nothing to say.
  6. Given her ties to McConnell this feels like a very specific statement being made - abandon Trump and save the party.
  7. I agree. I hope they can find someone who is able to make this stick and ideally move away from Larry Summers types.
  8. To add to the above story about beerface Gaetz, he has now decided to reveal that he has a 19-year old Cuban "son" he has been raising since the age of 13. This "son" appears on various posts and campaign sites going back to 2014 as "local student" or "aide." At one point the raging alcoholic refers to him as a "helper." Imagine degrading your "son" THIS much. As if this wasn't creepy enough, Congressman DUI was also the ONLY one to vote against a human trafficking bill last year. When will we start getting more honest talk about these depraved, sick Republicans like Gaetz and Jim Jordan and how their party continues to support them and turn a blind eye? Sadly, Katie Hill, who, having ruined her career because she couldn't keep her pants on, seemingly has little to offer beyond enabling Republicans at this point, chimed in defending him to add bipartisan feelings to this sickness. I never need to hear anything from her again, after she pushed the lie about Shake Shack employees trying to poison cops.
  9. Most of the states that should be there probably won't be this time. I'm more concerned at Biden's relatively weak support with black and Hispanic voters compared to where he needs to be. Right now one of his polling boosts is more white voters who have moved away from Trump. That won't last.
  10. That's a great description (although it also tells me why she didn't watch certain soaps - Edge of Night was never like that).
  11. A busy day for Katy Tur between telling us the Supreme Court decisions are great for Trump and giving one of the cops in the Brooks murder case a PR parade. Oh that liberal media. MSNBC is shameless.
  12. Having Ben mostly with teenagers was a dumb idea. To me she was like Martha Madison - a grandmother in a younger woman's body. No wonder Madison was supposedly almost a replacement for her later on.
  13. I never had any interest in them either. I never did know why she was hired in the first place.
  14. The problem is even many in the Democratic Party are so tied to big business and to these types of tax cuts. I hope so, but the media is absolutely desperate for a Trump comeback narrative. They need him to win as he keeps their money rolling in, but if nothing else they need to keep it close. They have tried so many things. This is a perfect wedge for them.
  15. She was married. This was also around the time of the Stephanie Gatschet/Tom Pelphrey/Gina Tognoni alleged love dramas. There were so many crazy rumors and stories it was hard sometimes to keep up. I remember someone back then claiming that Ehlers had also tried to make a pass at Bartlett, who was, needless to say, not interested.
  16. That's what gets me about the "contemporary" ATWT in that other than a few new characters like James and Margo, the show feels so incredibly sluggish to me, and without any of the nuance shown in earlier years. That 1967 episode, while also pretty sluggish, has so many more layers than anything involving pornstache Brad. I feel like Marland and the producers he worked with decided the only Hughes history worth paving over was Kim and Bob, and that was mostly just if it could impact their kids (like Sabrina coming in for Frannie's storyline). Other than continuing to have Penny make occasional appearances in the first few years of his run, along with Amy, that history was left to fade. Even Don mostly faded after 1986, aside from the Ryder story after Marland's passing.
  17. @Vee I know you enjoyed The Americans so you may enjoy this. Matthew Rhys talks a lot about the confusing writing and about his rollercoaster ride with whether his parents should watch the show that week. I do love Matthew Rhys. Perry Mason does not look good to me (the trailer was terrible) but I hope it works out for him.
  18. Most of his softcore work is credited to Frank Harper. I notice that too about Tudor - I figure it must wind down sometime in 1992. She's in a very eye-popping outfit for Clay and Dinah Lee's 'wedding.'
  19. On the one hand this helps Trump in turnout because his justices voted against the ruling, so he will have more reason to say to his base that he's had an impact, but the main thing is this is good news for the country as a whole and to so many who came here and were then used as pawns and run into the ground. And it seems that Roberts is continuing to move further away from the right on key issues because the party is becoming so extreme he has little choice but to do so. He is still going to side with them much of the time, but we need that vote whenever we can get it. I guess it's just the abortion case left to decide now, unless I'm forgetting one. That didn't take long. Trump enablers like Katy Tur are already pushing that these decisions are good for him and trying to paint his Presidency as a success.
  20. I'll be honest - I knew Chip from his softcore porn work before I ever knew he was on Loving. So it was a strange adjustment. I'm glad he uploaded all those clips for us though.
  21. In, "Why can't America be more like Europe???" news... Congressman Cedric Richmond vs. one of the biggest, oiliest shitslicks around.
  22. It's something that could have been interesting on GH, although not with Ron writing.
  23. That would have been 1987, I think.
