I'm glad you're mostly seeing compassion. Hopefully that will be what carries the day. And I'm sorry so many of us in the US have so little compassion ourselves.

What I mean is I'm always wary of "your country is worse than my country" or posturing types of word games. When it goes too far without any clear plans you end up with something like Trudeau's tweet (even if it was well-meaning on his part) after Trump won leading to floods of people at the border and Canada having to deal with the influx of immigration and refugees they hadn't expected.

Just disgusting. The media loves to talk about conservatives being betrayed by the Supreme Court, but they never have a word to say about the Court continuing to advance voter suppression. I won't link to the ads but I see that the GOP are running ads in urban parts of PA blasting Biden for the crime bill. This goes along with so many operatives who infest black websites encouraging black voters not to vote. The worst part is there are so many ex-Bernie bros who are giddily, actively pushing this narrative without being paid a dime. I don't think most of those being targeted will go along, but with such active voter suppression, even a slim shift would be enough to make a difference. A few articles on Trump's bad week/month and campaign changes as a result. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/07/02/the-week-that-shook-that-trump-campaign-348383 https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/02/us/politics/trump-2020-campaign-problems.html I keep seeing endless fawning over Tucker Carlson all over social media, and various articles pushing him for President in 2024. The news that Peter Thiel is close to abandoning Trump make me wonder if he's behind any of this. (and yet again, fake leftists like grifter Krystal Ball and Ryan Grim are also involved). https://www.businessinsider.com/peter-thiel-reportedly-cutting-trump-loose-2020-7

I never did finish them...it's hard for me to watch a lot of that period. I hope someone may put them back up as I sure don't think anybody is taking down Loving for copyright issues.

There was some fun bitterness between Barbara and Margo around the time of the stalking story and Barbara's fling with Evan. I had never seen Martha's Lily. I was not impressed. All she did was simper, when she wasn't singing the same damn song over and over (and I like that song!). It didn't help that I was not a fan of the Holden/Lily pairing. When they moved more toward the Damian/Lily relationship, investing in it and phasing Holden out of the story, I began to care more. I never really was that interested in Martha's Lily (I'm one of the few who was much more fond of her as Rose), but I do think she had her moments and I'm sorry her experience with ATWT had to end in such a bad way. Lily was involved in business from 93-94, you're right. I guess Martha didn't really see it as business-focused because of the triangle aspect. In that sense, Heather's Lily wasn't that business focused after her first year or two in the role. I wonder if Martha just never watched her (which would be understandable).

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
The end of the American century kicked off around the time that W, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and all the other greedy selfish pigs (along with their greedy sycophants and co-conspirators in the media) lied us into Iraq and tried to rile up hatred against any sensible country that did not go along. Trump has done untold harm to this country and if he is reelected he will probably do as much damage to the world as W did, but he is just working with what was already established. That last tweet makes me feel sick. Between that and the "leaks" that it's all Jared's fault, we are likely heading for a photo op of him with the mask and the media swooning over how Presidential he finally is, and he's on the comeback trail.

I've heard some fans say the same thing. I would agree in some cases, but AMC was so degraded by 2008 I don't really think that mattered anymore.- The Media/Journalism Thread

@OzFrog it is the same old self-important wankfest BS from the media. Most of those people will still support Trump. That hack Katy Tur was interviewing Trump voters who say if only he'd be nicer - but they're still voting for him. These are the "heartland" people that rich, out of touch Beltway types can't get enough of. In positive news, a Democrat won a state senate seat in Kentucky. https://www.whas11.com/article/news/politics/elections/karen-berg-kentucky-state-senator-election-win In news that reminds me that I wanted to say I hope @Khan is doing OK, Oklahoma has narrowly approved a Medicaid expansion. This is a constitutional amendment, which is more difficult to interfere with (although I'm sure they will try). This is a particular blow to Oklahoma's governor because he was pushing for the state to be the first in the "Medicaid block" plan that Mike Pence's Indiana team (you know, the ones that caused AIDS to skyrocket) has been heavily pushing. The rural areas of OK rejected the amendment, but fortunately the cities saved the day. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/07/01/oklahoma-expand-medicaid-pandemic-346681 In news that mostly frightens me, Scott Tipton, a cookie cutter Colorado Republican endorsed by Trump, has been defeated by Lauren Boebert. She is a Q-Anon believer (they will likely have several members in Congress next year) and also re-opened up her "Shooters" restaurant (where all the waitresses carry guns) in spite of COVID restrictions. She has said she wanted to run so she could go after AOC. https://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/election-2020/lauren-boebert-upsets-incumbent-scott-tipton-in-colorados-3rd-congressional-district-gop-primary If you know anyone in that area, here is the Democrat, Diane Mitsch Bush. Hopefully she can win, even if it won't be easy. https://dianeforcolorado.com/- What Are You Listening To?

Where is that ghoul Ted Cruz? Remember his big PR stunt with the governor and that woman who opened her beauty shop and got arrested so that she could be a martyr, grift on Gofundme, and then the governor magically got rid of the ordinance? I'm sure he's right there with these maskless heroes, right?- Hollywood Sexual Harrasment/Assault Thread
Those stories are disgusting. I would say there is a reckoning going on in the comics industry but I guess this has happened before and will just happen again.- The Politics Thread
Looks like Amy McGrath has prevailed in the Kentucky Senate primary. I think some of the attacks against her, especially by the perpetually shitty Ryan Grim, have been petty and elitist beyond belief, but I just don't think she has any shot against McConnell. I hope that they will put those resources into place in other, closer states. - All My Children Tribute Thread
