Between this and the bans on foreign workers from coming here, Trump has managed to make the dreams of the isolationists come true more than they'd ever hoped for. Of course they get most of their money from foreign countries and hire foreign workers (often illegally) and offshore jobs constantly, but none of that matters.

Same old Maggie Haberman. I'm seeing a lot of "She's just saying what Democrats have said" (she herself used this line today) or "The left can't tolerate her having her own opinion," but the very clipped and adamant way that she redirects us into knowing that Biden is a bad candidate running a bad candidate and that any Trump stumbles are an aberration is telling. She has invested so much into 4 more years of Trump, as has her paper. She should not be peddled onto various programs as some kind of objective analyst.

I mostly care because his words are used to drag down other people and movements. I just hope that this will be the last straw for many on the left who have gone along with his lies.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

Trish was the first Lewis - she was Andy Norris' (Holly's bad seed brother) battered wife. After he was locked up, she became involved with Ross in business and sometimes pleasure, and Josh, then a bad boy (basically an Andy who was not going around knocking seven bells out of women), joined her in Springfield. When Pam Long and Gail Kobe came in, they brought in Billy and HB (both of whom had been mentioned for years) and Mindy. Trish was always much more serious than the rest of the family, and Rebecca Hollen was a very understated, intelligent actress. It's very jarring to see her go from the drab, depressing style of the Marland years to the big hair and big ole fur coat look of Kobe/Long. She was written out in 1985 (not sure if it was her choice or the show's). She briefly returned for HB's funeral and the last Josh/Reva wedding.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

The reprehensible Shaun King is now advocating for any images of a white Jesus to be taken down. I have not heard of any real activists who ever advocate this type of position. It feels like a very deliberate attempt to not only get attention, but also to muddy the waters and give power to those on the right who insist that BLM and other groups are on some kind of ever-expanding mission of destruction. This is why some on the left giving him such a loud voice was a terrible idea. He can't run his con as well as he planned since Bernie lost, so he's trying to sabotage Biden, and beyond that, as this isn't just about Biden, he's also trying to sabotage the many activists who have repeatedly called him out and tried to make people wake up about him. Just shameful. And yet I still don't think people will fully shut the door on him. It's pathetic. Sessions spent decades as one of the leading hatemongers on the right. Just another example of how Trump grinds anyone who gets near him into the dust.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

I think @Vee mentioned that interview to us here last year...a great read. He was certainly a one of a kind director.- Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread

There seems to be a lot of different information going around about the voting in tomorrow's Kentucky primary.- Hollywood Sexual Harrasment/Assault Thread
Yesterday there were a series of, seemingly, disproven accusations against Justin Bieber and 4 cast members of Riverdale. I have to wonder if there is some plan going on to try to get people to discredit real victims. Beyond that this is also showing why social media is so toxic and is a bad fit for justice.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

Did you see the cast crawl in the fall 1978 episode that @BillBauer posted? I think there was a "chief" on there - he may already be in your list though.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Watching the episode again where Iva first sees Emma again and it's clear they made retcons by 1991 - Emma berates Iva over breaking her father's heart because Iva was "his oldest." Emma says in this episode that she last saw Iva when she was 13. So she probably had Lily when she was 14. Emma says Iva left when Holden was 3. So that isn't too far a stretch from their ages here, I guess.- The Politics Thread
A lot of people either don't know or just don't seem to care.- Closeted (gay) actors formerly on the soaps
Lynde also chose the worst time to join AW, as the show was becoming very moribund. The 1980 episodes are so often dead, in part because of the long stretches of her singing so very sincerely (the few Y&R performances I've seen with her are much more vibrant). Russ was too isolated a character by 1980 for his marriage to have any story value, and seeing her manager Jason pretending to be straight and obsess over her wasn't much entertainment value either.- The Politics Thread
So I guess that makes it even less likely we will get another check...shocker... I don't do TikTok, but the psyops nature of the platform has been overlooked and dismissed many times over, to the point of even Parkland activists like David Hogg being belittled for speaking up. Now that it's clear the thing is being used for propaganda involving Pizzagate and the Boogaloos, maybe some will finally start to step in.- German soaps: GZSZ, UU & AWZ
Thanks for answering. I hope it works out.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
They have about 8 or 9 parts (and similar for an October 1987 mashup). I love the channel switching aspect too. The only downside is it makes you depressed when you remember the days when there were multiple soaps on multiple channels.- One Life to Live Tribute Thread
My viewing wasn't every day but the most I remember in any real interaction was when the Labines were writing the show and they tried to have people mingle more often - I think Cassie offered him some cake and they talked while she was trying to get info for a story or something. I think they also talked a bit about their past relationship but I don't remember for sure. Overall it does seem like the show was happy to move past that period.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
More ATWT fragments in this...August 22, 1991, maybe? There is a scene in this, about 17 minutes in, that reminds me of why I HATED HATED HATED Courtney. She basically tries to shame Tess and says people will think she is a great big whore for dancing with and talking to <gasp> three men! That adorable Andy was wasted with this driftwood for so many years still makes me mad 30 years later.- One Life to Live Tribute Thread
That channel surfing August 1991 upload series continued. I don't want to dump videos in here, but part 4 continues the Joey hospital scenes and has some good moments, including Larry giving Clint and Viki home truths, and a surprisingly poignant conversation between Kevin and Stephanie about growing up and letting go of their relationship. Part 5 has clips including early Jason (this Kevin plays the scenes like he's sweet on him...not that I could blame him if he was), the runup to Andy and Hunter's wedding, and Cassie and Bo struggling with Alex's mind games. I think this must have been August 22, as August 23 has the wedding and Jason and Kevin at the loading dock. The end also has Alex talking about what she wants to name the child she plans to have with Bo. You just have to hear the name she chooses! - The Politics Thread
