  1. Marley was a horribly written character for most of Anne's run - a plot device who existed solely to push Jake and Vicky forward. I have wondered for a long time if Anne insisted on changes for Marley in her last year, as the awful straw wig was gone and Marley finally had her own voice and story arc.
  2. How truly pathetic to see all the hype about various racist reactionaries with nothing to live for but faux-pride going out in the streets to "protect" the Alamo from something that isn't even happening, just social media lies and rumors. Even worse is Jeb Bush's wizened son, who has no career in the GOP no matter how much of Trump's fat ass is on display for his lips, doing this "Don't Mess with the Alamo" posturing when the same people he's pretending to give a damn about would not spit on him if he were on fire.
  3. Watched those 1991 clips (pleasantly surprised to get more of 1991) and the show is pretty solid in this period, although I can why there were changes on the way. A lot of the stories feel disconnected from each other, and the Paul/Ava/Carly stuff is so constantly hyperemotional it's very draining to watch - must have been tough on the actors. Ally's makeup is so severe in some of these...glad they toned it down later on. Still not sure why they couldn't have kept Matt around as part of their teen scene, especially as it would have given Kate something of a grandson figure and given her another character to have story with, along with giving the boarding house more presence (I liked her comment that the boarding house used to be known as the "Rescott Hilton"). I suppose he wasn't as Hollywood glam as the teens coming in (unless the actor wanted to go). Christine Tudor is made to look very severe in this episode (I guess it's not long since her return), but I did like one of her lines to Dinah Lee - "I'm getting older by the minute." Seeing early Dinah Lee scheming makes you wonder what might have been. The first episode in the August 1991 twofer is chock-a-block with nothing but gorgeous guys (and Christopher Cass...who is alright). With the handcuffs on Rio, the unnecessary but repeated ass shots of the con in the cop uniform, and the unnecessary but repeated shots of ripped Robert Tyler's bare chest (now there's something we need to see in HD), all you have to do is wave the ladies away and you are ready for gay porn. Tyler was one of the most absolutely perfect men ever on daytime - even if he was pretty wooden early on, I'm still not sure how a bigger soap didn't snap him up after ATWT wrote him out. Most of the time when I see Rocky she's being petulant or dull, or both, so it's nice to see a few fun moments like that camping scene before she left.
  4. She has that same crazy intensity SMG often had - and her posture and body language as well.
  5. Oh I'd forgotten she was there for that mess. Has that ever been retconned?
  6. LML brought her out of mothballs in 2006 or so and she had a comic feud with Gloria.
  7. There is some weird-ass primary going on in Virginia at the moment, with a "libertarian" first-term Republican likely to be defeated by a more traditional hatemonger. The primary itself is completely baffling and anti-democratic. This is a district that, with the right circumstances, could go blue this year - I guess we'll see. Anyway, the primary itself was a complete trainwreck. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/06/12/denver-riggleman-gay-wedding-314746 The whole long thread starts here:
  8. James O'Sullivan.
  9. @Vee may know more about all the details in this...
  10. Today various far right protesters and thugs gathered in the UK as a counter-protest to a BLM march that was called off, and to "protect" various statues. It soon devolved into yob violence, with these dipshits turning their anger onto the cops. A part of me is surprised this hasn't happened in the US as of yet - I guess most of these types here know the police are on their side, or know that if they push too far, they will get torn apart, even if their skin protects them most of the way.
  11. More on the Kentucky Senate Dem primary. It's hard to imagine either of them beating McConnell so I mostly just wonder who will drive more turnout in November to help downballot. Normally I would say the main party has better instincts than Bernie and friends, but I've been wary about Amy McGrath ever since that Kavanaugh flub, and many in the state party also seem wary of her. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/06/13/booker-mcgrath-mcconnell-kentucky-senate-316201
  12. There are various ATWT clips in this. Not sure if anyone can help with the date. It seems to be before August 9th. Maybe the 8th? Those earrings on Iva are a real trip. It's hard to imagine her wearing those. I wonder why they splashed out so much money on such an expansive kitchen set for - is that Cal's place? Woody's? It's gorgeous. Feels a bit like a waste as these characters didn't stay around long (Woody and Hannah and co). Hannah was such a pain.
  13. I wonder when this is from. It looks like before August 9th, as the ATWT episode available from that date seems to take place after this - maybe August 8th? I had to laugh at how many times this taper zapped when they saw scenes of LeeAnn (Yasmine still trying that accent...) or Bo and Cassie. I can't blame them! This was early Gottlieb, right? I wonder why so much time was spent on extensive love scenes for Bo and Cassie when they wouldn't even be together much longer. Was it Malone (who has yet to arrive) who didn't want them together and that's how they brought Sarah back? This relationship and especially Max and LeeAnn both feel off to me, although the age difference in the latter is even more pronounced. The Buchanan family drama suffers from the weakness of this Kevin (this was Vipond, right?), but I do like seeing Megan trying to support him even as Clint and Viki tune her out. It's nice to see her as part of the family, or trying to be. And Erika Slezak looks great here. That scene with Joey having an episode was great too - very well-acted and believable. So much melodrama at this point, probably a little too much, but I guess they wanted to get some interesting back after the ratings drop.
  14. Camille's in this if anyone wants to see a bit of her way back in the day (this is from around 92-93 I guess).
  15. And he did the latter on the anniversary of the Pulse shootings in Tampa. He must have some old Reagan people working for him as I think Reagan did a lot of this [!@#$%^&*] early on. I'd love to say it won't work, but I'm not going to assume anything about this country.
  16. It's one of those stories I can appreciate for the construction, but longterm did so much damage...I'm glad Erika won two Emmys for her work though, even if I wish one had been a tie with Leslie Charleson.
  17. And they did this while Congressman Rush was with his dying sister.
  18. Thanks. I keep forgetting as he's always the face of everything.
  19. I guess that "I don't really care do u" jacket was as much a message to her husband as to the dying kids. Who was the last First Lady to be as utterly worthless and callous as she is anyway? How far back does it go?
  20. Oh I didn't even recognize her. I wish we could see that clip...
  21. I remember that but I was thinking more of everything before then, especially when she and Viki were at loggerheads through all of 1993 and 1994. I guess it would be something to ask Malone about...
