Days of Our Lives: November 2021 Discussion Thread
Their budget probably being 500 times higher back then must have helped.

The Media/Journalism Thread
Brie Brie has doubled down into her right wing grifting, currently launching a podcast bankrolled by Peter Thiel. Not a surprise, but I am surprised at how some of her fellow dead end leftists are now openly disgusted with her (a Chapo loser burns her in the replies of this, which she gets very defensive about).

The Media/Journalism Thread
And the media just goes along every time, desperate to be "reasonable" by wrapping fascism in swaddling clothes. The latest example being 60 Minutes having a puff piece on Andrew Sullivan.

I wonder how those dead end left grifters will feel about the Syria story since they love to remind us that Trump did not do drone strikes. Oh wait - they will ignore it. As always.

Honestly, it's hard for me to care. It's all just a road to nowhere.

Loving/The City Discussion Thread
@Vee Thanks for posting that. I never have known when Casey died either - geez, the last months of Loving were consistently dark, no break whatsoever. Ted and Laura always had good chemistry, but the attempt to pair them romantically not long after this was a questionable idea even in the "rape me, Todd!!!" era of ABC Daytime. I'm never a fan of the "He almost raped her but then he didn't...see?" trope if it's being used in a sympathetic way. I can't remember seeing the penthouse set much by the time I started watching. I mostly remember Ava and Alex in Kate's front room. I find when I watch that the Alex/Ava pairing takes away Ava's fire in the later years, but those last scenes really show the unbeatable chemistry Randolph and Lisa had. Alex's hair looks much better here than it did by the time I started watching. The Charles and Jacob scenes are powerful (if padded), but after all this it's a bit odd thinking about scenes like Jacob with Buck after Stacey was poisoned and learning Buck had also lost a daughter. He seems a bit detached there now knowing what I know here. So glad that in-between working for the feds, Casey managed to get his hair pressed. Great to finally see Lisa Brown. This is more like a Wiseguy take on increasingly insane federal agents who do horrible things for "the greater good" rather than the Hollywood mwahaha mechanics you often get. Lisa Brown is perfect for that type of part, especially given how much gloominess and pain had overtaken her onscreen presence by this time.

Pathetic beyond belief. Most pathetic of all is the half-assed "not me" attempt after blowback. The Beltway is pure bile.- RIP: In Memoriam Thread

They are going to try to burn books to make a statement. I don't really believe there is hope left for this country, to be honest, but the only chance of that happening is for the public to either ignore the corporate media at large, or topple the power structure and completely rebuild. They have shown over and over this year alone what a danger they are to us all.- Y&R - RIP Jerry Douglas (John Abbott)
Very sorry for his loved ones and so many who worked with him at Y&R. I never had much use for John Abbott as a character, but Jerry was a very warm presence who had a great deal of easy chemistry with those around him, especially the Abbott kids. Many lovely moments with Beth Maitland and Eileen Davidson and Brenda Epperson are in my head as I type this. I still remember the twinkle in his eye as he smiled.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread

This is going on in America right now yet the media cares more about faking milk prices and the left cares more about Harvey Milk having a ship named after him.- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Ian has been dead weight for years, and Adam Woodyatt has been phoning in his performances for a long time. The character is no longer needed. I just wish the show could do the same with Phil. Unfortunately when the talentless hacks Kate Oates and Jon Sen are still there, and those at the BBC who have killed the show are still there, nothing will change.- Spiderman: No Way Home

Cleland was a war hero who was smeared in 2002 by media darlings like Ann Coulter, and the campaign ops involving current "reasonable" Republicans who litter cable news and Twitter. Never forget that hate and bigotry ran the GOP long before Trump arrived, or how much they hate all of us.- Another World Discussion Thread

An interesting look at how the show is handling kissing scenes: https://thespinoff.co.nz/tv/05-11-2021/why-chris-warner-is-pashing-a-piece-of-perspex/- The Media/Journalism Thread

I still thought it was a clever twist - more interesting than anything else they've done with the character. I hope he will return with a good recast. If Kim is staying I just hope they will deal with how isolated she is.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread

Thanks. I wonder if Brad was intended to be Roger here - or maybe that was John, I don't know. It's like they split Roger in half, as John is the dark villain whose women issues define him (as shown in that drinking scene above) while Brad is supposed to be an all-powerful sexual figure, I guess....????? Maybe they should have waited until Michael Zaslow's time at GL wound down and cast him as Brad, rather than a guy who is basically Brad Dourif without the charisma. Hell, Brad Dourif and Powers Boothe had more sexual chemistry in the Jonestown film around this point than this guy has with anybody. Sorry to beat a dead horse, I'm sure the guy was nice in real life, I just get PTSD any time I go back and watch his character.- The Young Marrieds
That's fascinating. Thank you for your efforts in making these available.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I tend to be confused about the Brad/Dee timeline, if they ever even had a relationship. I know he came on before the Peter Simon character (Ian) died, and was initially conning Lisa - I can't remember, from the old clips, if John was already chasing after Dee when she was with Ian, or if all this started when Ian died. It's a bit odd now, looking back, to go directly into a love quad after Dee was supposed to be traumatized from Ian dying on top of her. And I don't understand why they needed the involvement with Annie - wasn't she meant to be in love with Jeff at this time? I was surprised he wasn't mentioned or shown anywhere in these episodes. Poor Annie seems so matronly. Then after she and John marry, he goes on trial for rape as she thinks she's sleeping with Brad, or whatever that was...I just don't remember if she ever actually ends up with Brad. Was he gone by the time the Dobsons returned? Or did the Dobsons write him out when they came back? Sometimes I wonder why ATWT let Peter Reckell go, but I can kind of see it here - he's very pretty, but also stumbly and a bit generic. He had the same problem at Knots. I wonder if Bo was just the perfect fit for him. I agree that Suzanne Davidson is very likeable, and easy to watch. I can see why Meg Ryan said she initially got a bad response from fans in taking over (I know there was a Betsy between them). My favorite part of that Nancy scene is when Joyce says, "Am I so terrible?" and Nancy....just.....pauses, before not even answering the question. Bone-chilling. That's what people watch soaps for, not "Stewart Mining." (I got a good laugh out of that little name card)- GH: Rumors regarding the vaccine mandate
Does Milo even appear on the show anymore? I'd imagine he aged out of his wank purposes for Frank. - The Media/Journalism Thread
