  1. Yes. I can't remember where I read it but I do remember reading that she was unhappy because she had assumed they were bringing her back for a story arc, not just a Cliff exit.
  2. Muneco Jim put some episodes back up, and I was watching some that I hadn't seen. This is the New Year's 1993 episode. Given all the depressing stories at the start of the year (Louie's cancer, Stacey's gaslighting, Ceara's death), it makes sense to do what they did here and devote a huge chunk of the episode to the singing and dancing troupe of Dr. Ron Turner and Five Guys Named Moe" I know very little about this character - I guess he must have been just about done by this time. Isaiah Washington played him briefly, but this actor seems to be Jeffrey D. Sams, who was in the Broadway revival of Moe at this time. Others in the revival were, per Wikipedia, Jerry Dixon, Doug Eskew, Milton Craig Nealy, Kevin Ramsey, and Glenn Turner. Not sure which of these guys were there with Sams. This must be the most airtime black performers got on Loving until later in 1993... @Vee @SFK Loving - January 4, 1993 - YouTube
  3. Is that one of those right wing channels?
  4. I thought they mostly just brought Taylor Miller back long enough to send Cliff out of town.
  5. In another example of our immature press corps, and also of the Washington Post being a shitpile, here is a WaPo reporter yukking it up over making herself the story by showing Neera Tanden's tweets about Lisa Murkowski to Lisa Murkwoski.
  6. I know that Brian Williams always wanted to be an entertainer, not a newsman, so he is probably just having fun in his last years behind the desk, but the way he cuts up now really cracks me up sometimes. "Ron-anon" indeed.
  7. I'm torn. She represents the heart of today's GOP, and much of their voter base. I'm more annoyed when media darlings are peddled out as an example of the "big tent."
  8. Ronn Moss has always been a dim bulb. I was mostly disappointed about Bobbie Eakes, but it is another reminder that even if we see someone on our TV for 20 years, that doesn't mean we actually know them.
  9. Democrats already have so much going against them, and are barely hanging on, and yet messaging failures like this still get dumped all over national television.
  10. As always, the people who enable hatemongers like Greene while being seen as "nice" or "not like the others" upset me the most. They all want us to die. Some just hide their grins.
  11. Looks like his material involved Cecily more than Hillary. I remembered it as both, or more the latter for some reason. Chip Albers put a bunch of short clips on Youtube about 9 years ago. Here are a few.
  12. Kyle's various Tiktok videos for the day. https://www.tiktok.com/@kyle_maclachlan?lang=en
  13. I remember scenes of Hillary having some kind of fantasy sequences involving the cop who ended up running over Laura later in the year. Was that strike material?
  14. Apparently Carolyn Maloney is pushing for DeJoy to stay, so don't count on anything. https://prospect.org/first100/top-house-democrat-working-with-louis-dejoy/
  15. I do too. I guess since it is her most known role (or was until Orange is the New Black - I never did watch that but many seemingly did), they decided not to talk about it. Too bad.
  16. Lorraine Touissant talks briefly about her OLTL stint, more about the consequences for young actors with the loss of daytime soaps. https://tv.avclub.com/lorraine-toussaint-on-getting-soft-on-the-equalizer-and-1846294581
  17. A look at the upcoming, crippling voter suppression laws in Georgia. The journalist, sadly like many political journalists on Twitter, tried to be "down" and ended up confusing many people with his wording - the legislation is not being dropped, it is going forward.
  18. Rege was a pretty good host. He did good accent work, sang, danced, and had comic chops too. All the clips are on SNL's Youtube channel if you want to see them.
  19. Is Will still in town? If he is, how long before he hits on Stan?
  20. Thanks. I guess that makes more sense as Emily Ann was repeated in some variation by Becca a decade later (sort of). I guess Nixon did the Charlie/Erica pairing too.
  21. I guess DePriest had been seen as a success at DAYS and AW, but she was never a good headwriter. Was she the one who had the silly Marisa story and broke up Natalie and Jeremy after years of them being built up?
  22. Thanks. I never had much use for Felix, but I'm glad they at least remembered the character over the years and didn't just drop him once his token status was finished.
  23. David was also tangled up in the Ceara story, as she was a gold-digger who went after him and then Jeremy seduced her to get her away from his son, which led to them falling in love, etc. Genie Francis has said repeatedly that her work in the Ceara incest story was the work she felt most proud of and she resented having to give it up. This was also Nixon, I believe. (it was not that well-received at the time - by the soap magazines, anyway) This was also around the time Travis and Barbara had a baby to give Bianca a transplant, which ended her marriage to Tom, because he was repulsed at the idea of having a baby for parts.
  24. I saw a clip - so Felix is back? Or did he never really go away? What do people think of the new Lucas?
  25. I would guess one of the main examples would be the Lainie/David Rampal story, as she tried to bring in a young love story (to diminishing returns) with each new stint as HW.
