  1. RIP Robert Gentry. I'm glad that huge chunk of summer '66 episodes survive, letting us see so much of his work. I wish more was easily available.
  2. RIP Robert Gentry. Ross Chandler was, along with Ed Bauer, probably his defining role in daytime, and certainly a very rich part. I can see why AMC tried to keep him around after the rape story, much as that was a mistake. It's a strong story that has held up well but I wonder if they ever had any regrets. Was Ross ever mentioned after he left?
  3. Robert Gentry is the third actor from AW's 79/80 period to pass away this year (Ray Liotta and Kevin Conroy being the others). It's going to be strange going back to rewatch any of that era. I wish I could see the material where he wooed and then dumped Cecile. A story that had massive ramifications for AW's next decade.
  4. Another sad day for soap losses. I guess he may be best known for his GL and AMC work but he did many soaps. Another AW actor from that one timeframe (79-80) gone too.
  5. I'm sorry that almost all of her EON work is gone. I wish I could see it as anything I have seen of her work as Martha is very strong.
  6. I wonder if it's to send a message to the people who are saying they won't vote for McCarthy, who is so desperate he's out there squawking that he will kill the priorities of any Republican senator who votes to fund the government. It is telling how eager the House GOP now is to have MTG as the face of their party. They will just keep doubling down unless the public stomps them into the ground. I hope enough people see that, and that so many scare stories about turnout among Democratic-leaning groups being down this year will have some sort of effect to get more into gear for 2024.
  7. Very sad to hear this. Sonya took a role which could be thankless or degrading and added so much heart. And clearly many in and out of the industry loved her. (the sound on the clip is very loud just to warn) (the sound on the clip is very loud just to warn)

  9. I know this is all sideshow material, but I'm fascinated at MTG and Boebert finally turning against each other. Some tweets claim Boebert has never liked her and wants to separate herself. I tend to wonder if MTG knows Boebert is on her way out. I could see her getting the Madison Cawthorn treatment (cut by the party for being such a huge money drain and pain in the ass).
  10. I feel like the seams have been showing for several years now. Apparently this doesn't have Sally Kellerman, which is a big oversight.
  11. The odd part is there's a little boy on Shortland Street now named Marley, so the name has more resonance than I realized today (that show is set in New Zealand, although I guess some writer could still be a huge AW fan...).
  12. I do think Marley was in a strong place as a character during Anne Heche's last year or year and a half on the show.
  13. The whole thing was poorly written false drama. Having her smash Dot and Jim's wedding photo left an especially bad taste.
  14. Several of the 'lost generation' cast members in that were very prominent and popular... Cecily stayed a few years too long (although I would guess she wanted to leave in May and Lorne pushed her to stay longer), but she's an absolute gem who could have been a star in just about any period of the show. I hope she has a decent sendoff. I'm surprised it was released this way but that may have been her choice. She's the first woman in 20 years who isn't leaving midseason because of pregnancy.
  15. After Bari Weiss made some teeny, tiny criticisms of Elon Musk, he reacted in exactly the way you'd expect: No more Twitter Files for you, Bari!!!
  16. I know these people were probably too expensive to keep around, but there's no excuse for them not being cast in better roles while they were there. Compare how Kim Hunter was used on Edge (even her one-day stint on ATWT as David Allen's adoptive mother was of better use).
  17. Thanks @Dion . I'm still really out of the loop with this show's history, which I need to work on. The current episodes in of themselves tend to leave me drained (especially this year, with all the Esther melodrama and Maeve's year-long breakdown) so I don't go back a lot.
  18. Someone said there were rumors she and Nick would be joining the show more regularly next year. Do you know if there's any truth to it? Who was that man Esther was with when she was being wheeled out and Marty noticed? Is this her latest new love interest?
  19. Lola's mother.
  20. I feel like she is potentially miscast for her role, but it will be nice to see her again.
  21. Other than the need for Arthur to be outed, and the ensuing misery, the scenes where he came out to Nicola were lovely and moving - Emmerdale at its best. Also good to see the long history between Nicola and Laurel utilized. I was never into this story, that's being kind, but still, I'm very impressed with Natalie Robb's talents.
  22. I thought he did a good job, he just didn't really have a lot to do. He hasn't acted professionally since the '80s, I believe, aside from his EE stints. I give him a lot of credit for that, and also for playing out a story of his husband dying of cancer when his real-life husband died of cancer. Admittedly I'm biased because Colin was one of my favorite characters. The key for me was that last scene with Barry, which was just lovely. Initially I wasn't sure I wanted the characters to be back together because there was a very specific storyline about just why they were not meant to be (the age difference, Colin's fussiness, Barry's fear of being seen as gay, etc.) but hearing that they met up again through social media made sense. Colin being so eager to finally get to kiss him out in the open of Walford, after they had been so scared the last time they lived there together, and Barry's wonderment at it all - just absolutely lovely. I don't mind seeing Lofty and Mary again, as they were such important characters for the early years. My main disappointment was no mention of Nigel. And yes, I didn't really love the part with everyone speaking, or Denise bringing up the Queen, although I could forgive as I'm sure it was hard to write.
