  1. This is well put. It's the 'strong father' issue. So much has happened since then I almost forget just how desperate the media was to get Romney and Paul Ryan (who each represented many of their ideals and desires) in the White House, with fever pitch after the first debate. The polls they define themselves by were also so warped that year. They truly did believe they could will Romney into winning, which is why you still have this group saying "the turning point was when liberals said mean things about Romney!!!" Anyway, one of Peter Thiel's stable boys seems to be flailing and flailing. I only wish the other could too.
  2. I always liked Robert Davi, but haven't followed his career in many years, which is probably for the best. Also saddened to see John James (admittedly I was never a huge fan, beyond thinking he's hot on Dynasty...) in this type of trash, as much because of the subject matter as because it stars Gina "I was on The Mandalorian and all I got was this Ben Shapiro coffee mug" Carano and Billie Piper's ex, a horrid man whose only positive trait is between his legs (and even that probably isn't true at his current age). I'm sure Jesse Armstrong will be pleased that Davi is such a big Succession fan though!
  3. Thanks @victoria foxton
  4. I saw the usual gaslighting, ramped up another notch, from worthless Megan McArdle claiming this would make Republicans never support another PPP (which they weren't going to do anyway) or worthless Nate Silver going on about how there is no equivalence. Or the dead end left reminding everyone they must still hate Biden. And people saying this will do for Republican turnout what Dobbs did for Democratic turnout. They clearly all have their talking points coordinated, and are upset at the idea of Democrats ever fighting back.
  5. I saw that Don Lemon was upset about this, reminding again of the agenda at CNN. I hope people have the sense to leave CNN in the rotting toilet where it belongs.
  6. The "paper of record" has hired yet another right wing mouthpiece who spent two years trying to dig up dirt on the Biden family, and is now reduced to trying to claim Biden lied about his father's education. Never forget how much the establishment media hates this country and hates anyone who does not write them big checks. I see he came from the New Yorker, which had a positive profile of DeSantis not long ago (the man who wrote this also goes on chummy podcasts to talk about him with DeSantis supporter and all around moron Andrew Sullivan). Glad I don't read them much anymore.
  7. Trump remains Trump, even as people continue to bankroll him and turn a blind eye.
  8. Blake Masters, another of Peter Thiel's golden boys, is a very proud zealot for extremist causes. It tells you how shaken up various arms of the party are over the NY-19 election result that he is now playing this delete and hide game. Luckily for him the corporate press will not care.
  9. They left it somewhat vague. Roo is tutoring a young woman who wants to be a lawyer - he said Morag used to say you have to study all day and night.
  10. Michael Tylo and Lisa Brown died last year. Mitchell Ryan died this year. There are also likely a number of actors who played smaller roles on soaps who died this year.
  11. It's a shame they never bring back these legends. I know some still fans still talk about Pippa today. Marilyn has a new story that just started, about a long lost child I guess, possibly. Roo had a decent story earlier this year about giving her mother a kidney. There was a strong scene in a therapy session where she finally vented about all the damage her mother faking her death did to her, including causing her to give her child up for adoption. If I ever find it I'll clip it and post it. A lot of fans do not like this retcon about Alf's wife not actually being dead, which I understand. The show didn't really do anything for the passing of Cornelia Frances, which is a shame. Alf did mention Morag yesterday, for the first time in a long time, so it's good timing to read your comment.
  12. The lawsuit against Horatio Sanz and NBC is expanding. https://people.com/tv/nbc-responds-to-latest-sexual-assault-claims-against-snl-horatio-sanz/
  13. You might know Marilyn, Roo and Irene. None of Pippa's kids are around now.
  14. Thanks @Skylover I wish they could go back to the '90s or early '00s credits.
  15. This Politico "reporter," whose father follows various hatemongers like Kristi Noem and Libs of Tiktok, may be the most pathetic journalist I've seen on Twitter (which is saying a lot). Hand-in-hand with the smugness and victim-playing are the pundits and flacks who continue to insist on a red wave and twist themselves into knots to downplay any breaks from the reality they are giving everything to make happen.
  16. The whole thing is so confusing (made worse by the Cuomo-appointed judges nuking the original district maps). As far as I could figure out, Pat Ryan is not running for this seat in November. He is running for NY-18 (he won the primary for that last night). Josh Riley is running in November, while Molinaro is running in NY-19 again. With so many seats at risk I think they just didn't want to throw money at a special election. They did the same with the Texas seat that Mayra Flores won for the GOP in June (getting her endless adoring media attention that Ryan is, naturally, not getting). They did put some in once it was getting close. I'm not sure if it was a good thing in this case they didn't get as involved. I just hope they can keep up the momentum as the media is already bound and determined to rig a GOP landslide at all costs.
  17. Thanks @victoria foxton as always for your tags.
  18. More of the media reminding us of their agenda, even pushing the joke that is Selena Z.
  19. Ron DeSantis' takeover of various school boards was a demoralizing way to start the night, but in more positive news, Pat Ryan (take that, Frank!) kept the swing seat NY-19 (Antonio Delgado resigned to become lt. governor). Various polls, including from various Democratic polls, had the Republican, media hyped Marc Malinaro, winning by 8-10%. The DCCC, stretched very thin, didn't spend a lot of money here (VoteVets did spend 500K). Ryan won in part due to rural counties not showing up as much while blue counties overperformed, but he also very pointedly, with no apologies, ran on choice, in spite of a media ecosystem that loves to jeer Democrats who take this approach (just ask Mark Udall). Some will say special elections don't matter, they will say New York is not important, or that Biden narrowly won in 2020 so Ryan narrowly winning is not a big deal, but this was a seat seen as a likely pickup until not long ago. If this type of energy and smart campaigning can be kept in 2022, it is still going to be very hard, especially in some states, but at least there's a chance.
  20. I've seen some upset over this being put out on Peacock so soon and how much it will impact the box office.
  21. In the last few days I'd noticed the accounts that are often tied to ops and strictly follow narratives given to them, like Jack Pussbag or whatever his name is (who was heavily involved in pushing the Canadian trucker convoy, Pizzagate, etc.), were launching hard attacks against Fetterman, all the way to bot-heavy hashtag trends calling him Uncle Fester to outright ridiculing him for having a stroke. Given how close Trump and Oz are, and how tied they likely are to the same murky figures, I assume this is a Hail Mary after the news that McConnell was cutting him off. You'd think Oz's campaign would let them do the dirty work, but no, clearly not: The irony is a lot of Fetterman supporters are Bernie groupies who relished these types of attacks against Biden (and before him, Hillary). Now that Fetterman is likely seen as part of the establishment, and they are drawn to this type of aggressive trolling, I wonder if some of them will end up supporting Oz...
  22. I skipped that at first so thanks for telling me. I wonder what Erika did want them to do with Viki. I'm glad she didn't want to go for Viki/Mel.
