  1. The dead end leftists who like Trump because he was "funny" and completely apathetic and vile at all times (like them) remain such a malice.
  2. So sorry to hear that, and I can imagine how it made you feel @DramatistDreamer. In other news, the GOP (and of course their sycophants like Ben Shapiro) have decided to make it clear to downplay and deify their leader
  3. To go with what @vetsoapfan said in the ATWT thread about Jacqueline Courtney mentioning in an old interview that she had various episodes, I know Laurie Heineman said in the late '90s that she had had to buy the episode that ended up winning her an Emmy. I wish there was some way to know if these episodes are still around and to preserve them. Not to shame the people who spend their time and effort on those archives, but it's jarring sometimes to remember that people have invested far more in finding and restoring no-budget pornos filmed in rundown apartments in the '50s, '60s and '70s than has been spent on finding and salvaging old soap episodes that kept their networks solvent for years and years.
  4. I also don't think Josette was ever intended as making a man lose his mind. She was always a tragic figure. I do think she was allowed more agency and voice before the actual Barnabas arrived. Aside from Angelique, to a degree, any woman in Barnabas' orbit tended to just suffer and pine and suffer and pine and suffer. It's one of the reasons the character never really appeals to me that much.
  5. https://deadline.com/2022/08/anne-heche-brain-dead-injury-taken-off-life-support-1235090375/ I'm sorry for the woman who lost all her possessions and work from the fire, and I feel like any other statement ends up downplaying her loss, which is not my intent, but this just has me so down. I am glad if Anne is at peace, shallow as that is to say. but the last week has felt so fast and so, so wrong. Anne is one of the best actors soaps ever had and I hope someday that is how people can remember her.
  6. Nancy's tweets are never dull.
  7. So I guess yesterday or late the night before would have been the earliest. Still not enough to stave off the media narratives, even if it would have helped somewhat. Speaking of the results of those media narratives: His Twitter feed shows that he was another of the mindless horde who replied to MTG, Don Jr, and all the rest.
  8. Shameful. They are so giddy. Well said by Sherrilyn Ifill:
  9. I wish they'd done this a few days ago, as the media narratives have already set in. Maybe they couldn't.
  10. I had no idea about Robyn. Heartbreaking.
  11. I don't think I've seen this one on Youtube before.
  12. I often criticize Dave Wasserman (and Amy Walter) for their need to shape races to Beltway narratives and desires, but if you need a brief pick-me-up, he had a series of tweets yesterday about a special election in Minnesota and how the Democratic performance (he lost by about 4 points - 6 points more than Biden got in 2020 and about the same as the Democratic candidate in 2020) might suggest there won't be as big a GOP wave this November for the House as had been expected a few months ago.
  13. This episode has been around for eons (I posted it before on the first page) but this upload seems to be in better quality.
  14. I don't think that's going to do much to help Kathy with a certain story coming up.
  15. I sometimes take for granted just how much Holland-Dozier-Holland had to overcome to become such a touchstone of American music. I also take for granted at times just how much their songs resonated for generations, through nostalgia, or covers, or popping up as soundtracks on many romcoms or period pieces. These days, music tends to feel so derivative, and at times, choking on self-important misery. The lifeblood that Motown gave to this country made many stars, and made a magnate out of Berry Gordy, but Lamont Dozier will never fully get the credit he deserved. I love so many of their songs, far too many to list, but this may be my very favorite, with the soul of Motown, always there to remind us of the heartache underneath the glitzy costumes and flawless choreography.
  16. As the "do something" crowd has said, lack of Democratic response has already led the media to make this a noble GOP cause, with Maga Haberman literally transcribing Eric Trump's words as gospel. I'm not really sure what Democrats could say, which is one of the reasons the whole thing makes me wary.
  17. I am wary about the optics of this (although the GOP was going to use these powers for their own vendettas no matter what) and how much this will juice up GOP turnout in November and unite the GOP even further behind this increasingly debilitated despot, but I also know if they were ever going to find anything this may be the last chance to do it. I just hope they do find what they are looking for. I also hope this wakes up the last few hangers-on of Andrew Cuomo and Andrew Yang, who are showing yet again they care about power and their god complexes above all else. Meanwhile, one of the right wing Republicans who always voted party with one exception (the impeachment) has lost to a man with deep ties to extremist groups: https://apnews.com/article/2022-midterm-elections-donald-trump-campaigns-race-and-ethnicity-be616cae0967ca6ee9c78ac1efee8e31 If you are wondering who the Beltway pundits will blame, you don't have to guess for long:
  18. Tia Carrere (ex-Jade, GH) is in the new comedy Easter Sunday. The film has gotten bad reviews and poor box office, but I've always had a soft spot for Tia.
  19. Insert 50 gifs of that "boo, tomato tomato tomato" lady. Horse [!@#$%^&*].
  20. Keep Sam Womack in your thoughts.
  21. @I Am A Swede I genuinely do think that they could make a fascinating documentary on the Farm era, if they wanted to. If only they did. Some spoilers are out for the anniversary.
  22. The various Caseys have interesting careers, I guess... The Thiel backed groups and the Yarvin groups all operate on various fringes and often seem to just be there to try to demoralize and also to tell people who only care about "vibes" and nihilism that it's cool and hip to be a hatemonger. Dasha for instance got put into Succession, a very "hip" television show, in spite of having no acting ability, no looks, and the charisma of a dead tree. It is one of those movements I think is heading closer to power now that people like Blake Masters and JD Vance, both Thiel sycophants, could win Senate seats. You probably already read this but it is a piece on their ilk from early this year. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2022/04/inside-the-new-right-where-peter-thiel-is-placing-his-biggest-bets
