  1. Thanks @Vee I heard about Miriam Margoyles - I wonder if they mean her.
  2. This says it all about the future of the GOP caucus:
  3. I think what disgusts me is Elon likely brought Twitter just to destroy it, and will suffer no real consequences, financially or legally.
  4. A truly desperate attempt at narrative-setting (look at how much Latinos love Republicans now!1!!!11!) by Hotline Josh, which will likely work with many people in the Beltway.
  5. The only moderate Republicans died out (literally in some cases) decades ago. The rest is just lip service. It was time for Nancy Pelosi to step aside, just because of her being in her 80s and her husband nearly dying, but she was a once in a generation talent and I don't know where we would have been without her. I do have to admit I'm wary of Jeffries due to his wasting time at right wing (masquerading as "reasonable") outlets like The Atlantic, giving the press, and the GOP, money quotes.
  6. I think they did this when Holly died too - the ashes went in Moira's face.
  7. Other than her endorsing Nina Turner, Katie has had a near-faultless political career. I can't see the power structure letting her get Feinstein's seat but either way I can't see her staying in the House long-term.
  8. This is vitally important for the future of the genre. Neighbours found ways to adapt and to modernize, over and over again. In order for soaps to have a tomorrow, I hope they can make this work in a way the American soaps didn't manage. As @Vee has talked about before, the timing was just not right with those jumps. Ideally this time will click. I'm so happy for you too @Ben and @Skylover - the campaign Skylover spearheaded is likely a big reason why this is happening.
  9. Glad they avoided the cliche fainting reaction. Thanks, @Joseph Watching those two July 1993 episodes, the main thing I noticed was how high-energy the show was compared to the 1991 episodes. Not always in a good way (Gwyn behaved so erratically that her mental breakdown suddenly made much more sense - we even got a Jeremy-style death for Buck [nearly] at her unintentional hands), but certainly in a more memorable way. The Shana and Leo material felt tryhard (mainly the scene of Shana practically coming to an Elvis movie), but the actors did their best and did have nice chemistry together. The material with Ava and Jeremy and Faison (and Shirley Stoler!) was very horned up. What got me most was the extra details of having so many bit players pawing at each other, the guy who wanted to have sex with his girlfriend in a coffin, etc. The train sequences all felt like something from softcore porn. I don't think I've ever seen Ava, or any woman on Loving, treated in such a "male gaze" way as she was in this episode, especially the various shots of her in the tight lingerie. If this was when Bob Guza was a headwriter, I guess that makes sense, but it's jarring. Jean le Clerc just never clicks on the show, and I'm still not sure why they spent so much time trying him with Lisa Peluso. @Veewill remember better than I do, but I think Andres Hove was unhappy about the Faison material in these crossover episodes, as he and Tony Geary were so high on their own supply about the material Faison was meant to get during his 1999/2000 GH return (IIRC he later went on to badmouth THAT as well, which was, like everything else on GH by that point that did not involve Sarah Brown, dull as hell).
  10. https://people.com/movies/ghostbusters-playboy-model-kymberly-herrin-dead/ Kymberly was also in the ZZ Top video for Legs.
  11. Wasserman's glee over Republican wins and negative framing against Democrats is more and more difficult for him to hide.
  12. Very sad to hear this. The above scene (thanks @janea4old) was incredibly moving, especially today. Soaps have no real time or interest in characters like Robert now, or actors like Robert Clary, but they would be as beloved by viewers today as they were at the time. I wonder if Bill Bell regretted writing him out of Y&R.
  13. This is so ridiculous I do wonder if it is paid actors this time around, rather than true believers, but I should never underestimate their stupidity.
  14. I would have no real interest in this, but I'm glad Peter will be there for the Victor sendoff, whenever that will be.
  15. @dc11786 @Kane @victoria foxton @slick jones @Franko @Vee @NothinButAttitude @Sapounopera @danfling @Forever8 @j swift I found these on Youtube today. Didn't see them uploaded elsewhere before this point, outside of Tricia/Trucker clips. Apologies if I was wrong.
  16. I wonder how many have regrets about Hochul, who seemingly sleepwalked through a disastrous downballot race.

  18. Justin Amash is another of those posturing-but-not-doing figures (like Will Hurd, whom I have zero respect for), but I do appreciate moments like this, and his brutal roasting of the leaders of the Libertarian Party (who threw all in with the GOP and didn't seem to do them much good). For someone who has no personality beyond naked power, it's definitely a damning moment, although I think the press will still push him hard because they want the narrative of strong Republicans and Democrats who fail (notice how much Dave Wasserman and others are pushing the House race gloom/New York doom while other puppets like Brie Brie, that weirdo Zenkus, and Sirota are going on about Biden's lies and how nothing has changed, crypto scandal that will haunt Democrats, etc.). The press will eat it up but hopefully the public won't. I do wonder if the media and the GOP will throw McCarthy over for Steve Scalise, who has always been given a free ride by the press considering his ties.
  19. This is posturing from a faux-moderate, but feels like a sign from McCarthy that he knows he's in trouble. McCarthy is a worthless hack who sold out his country over and over - that he is seen as any type of reasonable choice says it all about that party, and the corporate media who worship them.
  20. I mostly just feel bad for the candidates who had to often run with little help from some of the more dubious pols at the top this cycle (not Pelosi - I mean people like Maloney) and lose by narrow margins, but yes, it could have been much worse. In more amusing news...
  21. You're right, @Vee it's disheartening to read but thank you for keeping up with it. Mike Garcia is a far right extremist. I don't know if that district just loves him personally, or he's great at constituent service, but I wonder if running the same candidate against him three times is another reason.
  22. I had the same thought when he first ran. Glad I'm not the only one who is that much of a weirdo.
  23. The media is already starting the campaign to help Republicans win in Georgia. This guy is a producer for Medhi Hasan on MSNBC, who is prone to attention-seeking and out of touch comments. Birds of a feather.
  24. No need to apologize. I was no better - probably worse. I could say well I had a feeling, but I let my instincts be swamped by the media and online culture and so on. I'm glad there were a number of people here who had clearer heads. And absolutely about Warnock. Hopefully people won't stay home now that the Senate is won. I don't trust Sinema if we stay at 50.
