  1. The Beltway is going to push the student loan relief along with Biden's speech as much as they can to remind us that the GOP is on the comeback and so on. Toady pollsters like this one are a key part of that process.
  2. @Vee These are wonderful insights, and remind me of so much I've forgotten (like Cathy's backstory). I was never that interested in the Greg/Abby relationship so your thoughts on them give me a very new perspective.
  3. A good interview where Shirley talks a lot about career regrets, the Rat Pack, metaphysical, while Bobbie Wygant shares her worst interviews.
  4. A January 1979 soap magazine mentions ABC creating a new soap written by Ann Marcus, following the Y&R formula as dealing with the problems of the young, with "lots of restlessness going on in this California beach town."
  5. @slick jones I was looking through some old scans of a 1979 magazine I used to have and found this quote from Demond Wilson (listed in your other thread as having a part on The Doctors) about a role on Best of Everything: "It was a character people didn't like - I always played seedy characters on serials, like one who sold drugs in Fanny Farmer boxes. People flipped out. Old ladies screamed at me on the bus. Soap opera fans really get caught up in these things. Even my mother. If my show was up against As the World Turns, I'd be in trouble!"
  6. I don't know if Jeanne Cooper wrote about this in her book (haven't read it) but I was reading an old interview with Beau Kayzer and they said that the show wanted Corbin Bernsen to play Brock, but he couldn't sing or play guitar. They also said Corbin was relieved as he saw himself as a playwright, not an actor.
  7. This tweet goes on and on...I guess at least these inane views are getting more open scorn than they were a few years ago, but I can't believe this is "the paper of record."
  8. The talking points about the military, the lighting, this is divisive, and all the rest. I've given up knowing whether people will fall for it or not. I just hope the media falls further and further into irrelevance.
  9. CNN coordinating their talking points to help their masters:
  10. Rick Scott is a selfish man who has repeatedly shown he will never put anything above his own career and bank account. He may be defrauding their coffers right now. I wonder why he was chosen for this gig. @Vee Blake Masters has already done this but apparently even more zealots are trying to scrub and hoping no one will notice. I know the media won't care so I'm glad the various Democratic arms are spotlighting this shift: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/08/30/republicans-abortion-trump-online/
  11. More Beltway figures justifying the delusions and voter suppression of the right.
  12. Kasie, yet another Republican enabler at CNN, makes sure to platform push polls to try to help Republicans in Colorado (the media has been trying hard to will this into happening).
  13. Yes, this was during a deglammed period for Jill. This is the peril of just watching random clips.
  14. Thanks. As a number of people said at the time of Newman's casting, I doubt they had any plans to keep the character on the show, with him or with Burgi.
  15. I'd love to see it. I don't know what Robert Newman or Melinda Fee are doing on there though.
  16. The Beltway is already trying to dismiss this, but Mary Peltola has become the first Democrat in 50 years to win Alaska's House seat. Yes, ranked-choice voting helped, and yes, Sarah Palin is a deeply loathsome, pathetic figure who fled Alaska for greener pastures then returned when she and her daughter both belly-flopped, but in a number of years that still wouldn't have been enough. Peltola won on her own merits and due to current trends. I just hope that can translate to something positive for November.
  17. I guess Weigel's carrying water for Smith paid off. Maybe he can also be humiliated by Faux News celebrities.
  18. @slick jonesI saw your listing for Lisa Peluso - not sure if you already had this update but a July 1976 soap magazine lists her as a newcomer to ATWT and mentions her character being named Muffy McCarty.
  19. Thanks. I guess McConnell recently groveling to Oz/Masters/etc. at a rally tells you who is winning that battle. I saw a recent clip of Vance on !@#$%^&*] Carlson...frankly, you could tell he had been eating his feelings, and he was as smarmy and smug as ever. He's lucky that he's in a red state and that Tim Ryan, last seen contorting over student debt, isn't the most dynamic of candidates. I do think Masters is in a more precarious position, but the polls showing lunatic Lake winning the gubernatorial race make me nervous. The best thing going for Democrats aside from Dobbs may be that Trump still defines the GOP yet he is not actually on the ballot. That may make a difference in Arizona, where I think Martha McSally only did as well as she did in 2020 because of Trump.
