  1. I know a job is a job but I'd hate for Daphnee to have to work for Frank again.
  2. Pentagon leak promoted by pro-Russian network run by former Navy noncommissioned officer on US soil - Raw Story - Celebrating 19 Years of Independent Journalism
  3. I'd heard a lot of good things about Beef, probably Netflix's best-reviewed new shows in years, but after seeing this about David Choe, one of the actors cast in the show, I don't think I'll be watching it. Ali Wong has locked her Twitter account. (this has him talking about sexual assault - I think he later claimed this was a made up story, but it's still disgusting to hear)
  4. DRW50 replied to DRW50's topic in DTS: Foreign Soaps
    Thanks as always @victoria foxton
  5. I don't usually post Maga Haberman, but I'm making an exception this time because of the meltdowns from some of that pig's fans:
  6. A cheap laugh, but at this point it's about the best we'll get.
  7. I didn't realize until today that Julia Duffy is on Twitter. I checked to see if she mentioned anything about Liz Hubbard. She had far more to say about the latest Succession episode, but nothing about Liz as far as I could see. Not judging her - supposedly that wasn't a very happy set as the years passed, and she may not have good memories of the show, or of Liz (I don't know if she has ever spoken about the show). Just thought it was interesting.
  8. Dianne Feinstein, under heavy criticism for being unable to sit on the Judiciary Committee (which will eventually cause problems with some nominees getting out of committee), still won't resign, but has agreed to let another senator replace her on the committee.
  9. Another media darling, one who fails with even answering a basic question.
  10. Fantastic work @slick jones ! I didn't even know these episodes were available on Youtube.
  11. NPR has long been a propaganda outlet (I still remember their attempts at shaming people who were paid for being off work during COVID lockdowns, and their support for the Iraq invasion), which makes Elon chasing them off even more ludicrous, and delusional. And so many sycophants in the replies cheering him on. Why he has so much love I will never know.
  12. This is around the same time AOC and Cori Bush went out of their way to blow up the worst framing of a Biden executive order on trans athletes in schools. It's either being paid off or a desperate need for attention.
  13. Seeing Michael Logan's tweet reminds me of when, around 1996 or 1997 when he wrote online for TV Guide, he made a dig about her being OTT and some of her fans got on him. Little did anyone know just how much worse online soap writers would get. Seeing those comments from her son are very moving. I'm glad to know that to the end she saw that people were appreciating her work on The Doctors. I'm glad she was still with us to experience that boom, as most of the other vets of the show were long gone.
  14. I know Elizabeth Hubbard was far more than just Lucinda, but that's where I first saw her, and how I will probably always see her. On paper, Lucinda seems like a deceptively simple character - a Freudian case study, meddling and never being satisfied, always losing those she loves - but Liz made her far more. She was an incredibly dynamic presence, one who was absolutely born for the 5 day a week format, because she always kept you (and her scene partners) on your toes. Whether it was a line read, or even a look, you never knew what you were going to get. You enjoyed watching her. She made ATWT a more vibrant show, from her first episode to her last, and no matter how naughty - at times bordering on monstrous - Lucinda could be, you still cared about her. I still remember, as a kid, how moved I was by her performances when Walsh was taken away from her. You might have been able to argue that Lucinda "deserved" what she got, but the actual result broke your heart as much as it broke hers. Liz, often accused of overacting, was understated to the point of pure sorrow. Liz always cared, never ceasing to want to explore new avenues for Lucinda, never phoning it in, never forgetting the integrity the character should have. She still wanted to tell stories like Lucinda going back to school, long after anyone at the show was going to bother with a character-driven tale. She still remembered that characters like Bianca existed, and added that to her lines. That clear passion, that basic respect for the genre and for her character, is what connected her with viewers. In a town that could sometimes be suffocated by paper dolls, ingenues and generic studs, Lucinda felt real. For all the talk of Liz changing lines or being set in her ways, she played a lot of material she knew wasn't great, she was loyal to the show as best she could be. That's one of the reasons why, when she finally did have enough in 1999, fans supported her, and even an increasingly stingy, hollowed out P&G supported her. And she rewarded them by being a stalwart for that final decade. One of the few positives of that last year for me was getting to see Lucinda back to her old self, meddling, scheming, doing what she thought was right for her family, and of course paying the inevitable price as she once against lost everything. Yet as she left for her happily ever after with her soulmate John, pledging to turn over a new leaf, you knew she'd be back. You knew she'd never really leave us. And she never will.
  15. They have also tried to generate outrage over Build a Bear having a RuPaul bear. Sadly this type of culture war hysteria gets the job done. As for local reaction, local media has been decimated and what there is of it is under the control of right wing hatemongers like Sinclair.
