  1. Finola looks incredibly good for her age. It seems like Anna is still in some hold until they get Valentin back, as I assume they plan to do. It's a credit to her that she has managed to be as prominent as she is when you consider Robin is long gone and Anna's strongest ties are all fading into the past. There's no such excuse for Jason. It's a recency bias. People are used to Jason and Sonny being around for years without any purpose. Lucky returning to also not have any purpose, after well over a decade, probably gets more notice.
  2. I'm not sure what plans Mulcahey had for her, but I think that period is what led to the current failures. From the start the whole story seemed bound for disaster - putting a brand-new actress in a surrogacy plotline that annoyed viewers and the whole Blaze closeting saga, on top of having her wring her hands over Sonny (and any moment where she was going to see the light about him would be short-lived given that it's Sonny). I think Frank assumed that all they had to do was bring in a "star" from another soap and they could throw anything at her.
  3. Thanks as always @slick jones
  4. They should have had Eddie keep the mustache.
  5. The episode concluding the Lee Gantry story was also around at one time, in the archives, although I don't know if it is anymore. CBS put this up when GL was canceled. (reading his Soapcentral profile makes me see that story was dragged out longer than I realized) I prefer this lighthouse to the leaves - it looks a bit like a nuclear holocaust but that adds to the slightly off-kilter feel GL had at its heart.
  6. Feels like a melodramatic title for the content, unless Rosie O'Donnell sponsored the video. I don't understand who decided a great moment to promote would be Susan Walters stumbling out of a room.
  7. They don't have the episode, apparently, but had this 1974 full closing on an old file.
  8. A Youtuber was anonymously sent a treasure trove of old footage and is uploading the material over time. They will also be uploading on Internet Archive. This is six episodes of a 1975 David Attenborough BBC animal documentary. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyc_XMzJb5hkoj8rmx-Ll_A2UM7LU8L4h
  9. Jason was by far the best of that set. OLTL really wasted him.
  10. Thank to both of you for trying to help.
  11. That's very kind of you.
  12. Thanks. I wouldn't have known this otherwise. I think I stopped somewhere in late 1968 or early 1969 but IIRC the wheels started to fall off then.
  13. You're probably right, but even with Jason, where his return was also lousy, I felt like there was a little more effort made in promotion and some of the early reactions of people around him. Of course Mulcahey was there at that time, and gone now, but they just haven't made any effort at any drama with Lucky beyond a few days of him angsting over being a deadbeat.
  14. I believe, and have believed for a long time, that the first woman President will be a Republican. The same is likely true for a gay man. Pete Buttigieg should become a full time campaign strategist and move away from political office. He will never win a major race, but he massively overperformed when he ran for POTUS and I think he was one of the most effective surrogates for Biden and Harris (he was also one of the few who seemed to realize that the MSG rally wasn't going to hurt Trump). I think Newsom is too lumbered with California baggage. Jeffries might be a good choice, although as already mentioned, I wouldn't want to see him have to face such racism. My pick would still probably be along the lines of an Andy Beshear or a Roy Cooper. I know the left would not show up for him, but they did not show up for even their beloved Bernie. They are mostly well paid to serve as antagonists to the party and most of them should be shut out. I'm seeing a lot of talk about Ruben Gallego, but while he is skilled, he was also running against one of the most godawful candidates I have seen in my life.
  15. Again? I don't think either of them have ever been up to the parts (I know some did enjoy certain MM Belle stories like her fling with Philip), but best of luck to them.
  16. I think the lack of Lucky is down to not really wanting him back. Frank has never had a high priority on Liz or Laura, and I can't see them doing much with Aiden either. Some characters are suited to the past.
  17. Haven't been able to watch all of this yet but I skimmed through this Barbara Rodell interview and she does talk some about her time on GL and ATWT, among other soaps. At one point she mentions a conflict with Helen Wagner that she managed to resolve.
  18. I think something that certain Democratic consultants or activists were hoping on is voters would simultaneously want to uphold abortion rights and vote for the party. Many decided to have their cake and eat it too by supporting Trump and believing his lies that it was a state issue and he was somehow pro-choice.
  19. I think people care; I just don't think it was enough to make a big difference in the election. Not with this broad of a win. It was heavily used in 2022 and had limited effect. Thanks.
  20. Seems to be gone. What did it say?
  21. The one constant in politics, beyond the power of hate and bigotry, is that there are few constants. In 2004 the talk from the media and Karl Rove was that there would be an enduring Republican majority. Most of the people who pushed that line at the time are now exiled from the party and most of what they saw as important values for the party are long demolished. I do think the Trump coalition is extremely fragile and is more from a million forces together at once through adoration of his toxic, rotting visage. But that doesn't mean 2026 or 2028 will be a beacon of hope. It just means everything is going to spin wildly out of control and the only positive will be if the left manages to stop any of the carnage and find their own identities to connect with the public.
  22. Given the mood lately I thought some might appreciate this video. It's one of Teri Garr's earliest roles:
  23. If the acting and writing were better I would say the show could use Michael and Willow as the Alan and Monica for modern times that they were trying to do with AJ and Carly in the SJB era. Maybe Michael can try to kill Drew like Alan with Rick.
  24. There's a lot of cultural conservatism in both states. The macho persona forced by Trump and the GOP this year (where women at large seemed shut out with not even a token attempt otherwise - unless you count Kari Lake hovering in from the window) may have also appealed. The odd part is that New York jumped to the right in 2022, even as many states didn't, but this election cycle, they actually gained back three house seats and gained a seat in the state legislature. One of the Congressmen claims the reason he won (he won a special election earlier this year and kept it this week) is because he was willing to say, "biological boys shouldn't be playing in girls' sports." I think anyone who cares about that is already likely voting GOP anyway. So much of this election ended up being about denying reality, at least in my case. I kept hoping it would be true, but for a year now I've read tweets and articles about how well the GOP has been doing with Gen Z voters, partly from the guys who are drawn to the bro culture through scum like Andrew Tate or Theo Von, part through apathy, part because they were very young when Trump was in office and don't know just how bad it was and how bad it almost became. I am not sure what Democrats can do to get them back. One thing would be getting more young people who can actually talk with them and not just relying on memes. Nobody was asking for a Biden tiktok. I do wonder if some will start to second guess themselves once Gaza stops being their pet cause (sorry to be cynical but it is just a pet cause for many). They got taken for a ride. Even Jill Stein, their queen, was saying the day before the election that she has ties to Israel and doesn't want to see it burn.
