  2. What would Mike Karr say.
  3. She's not very likeable but I enjoy her edge, and her relationship with Andrew. There are some great scenes between them, like the one where she tells him she regrets not being nicer to Megan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyTT_HY4OBE I would have gone for a Marty/Andrew relationship instead of everything with her false accusations. I think seeing her slowly reform, as she was doing by early 1993, would have been better than redemption by rape, which ended up with her being defined by rape.
  4. An Afternoon TV Yearbook covering 1973 mentions Stephen Bolster (Ted Clark, AW, up to February 1973) subbing on AMC. I wonder who he filled in for.

  6. I use a scanner, but someone else may use other ways.
  7. Sure. I don't have every issue from those two years but will post what I have.
  8. No I didn't. Are there any specific issues from 1988 and 1989 or just all of them? I'll try to post them in order...
  9. I have some from those years, yes, and I'm pretty sure I have some from those months of 1991 - that would be what, a month ahead, so look for issues from July/August/September 1991? How much of that story did Tracey Bregman have to play after she had a miscarriage? That must have been hell.
  10. Thanks for this. It's a little tough imagining Katharine going wild with a letter opener by this time, but then she got into catfights throughout the '90s, so what do I know. I guess it's close to the end for Cassandra. If there are any years or months you are interested in synopses for, let me know, and I may have them.
  11. I enjoyed this episode, so if that's unpopular then I'm with you. I thought the therapy session was very well written and acted, and something different for soaps. I prefer it to the Hogan/Liza bits I've seen later. Was Adair gone not long after this? She wasn't in the flood stuff. I was talking about the other young guy in the family therapy scene. He seemed to be Lloyd's son. I thought it was Chase, but then they showed Chase at the TV station.
  12. I'm not sure. The Tea Party was given outsize attention from the start. They were painted by the media as the voice of America, even when some members were hurling racial and anti-gay slurs at Congressmen. The Wall Street protestors are mostly painted as fringe, or in terms of what they're costing the city.
  13. I think they are already behind Romney, they just aren't saying it openly because so many in the base distrust him. Now Cain is #1 in the polls. People just don't want to accept Romney until they have no choice. I don't remember the Granholm speculation but I think that was less about her popularity, as others who weren't overly popular, like John Kerry, were also mentioned. The Tea Party is going after the Wall Street protestors. Someone in the Tea Party says Tea Party members are "happy warriors." http://www.politico....1011/65826.html Meanwhile, a writer for the influential conservative blog American Spectator said that he went to the Wall Street protests and did his best to rile them up. So apparently these protests were sedate enough that some on the far right felt they needed to make them more aggressive. More happy warriors. http://www.guardian....y?newsfeed=true Anita Perry lashes out at her party for attacks on her husband. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1011/65882.html
  14. This was the big conservative backlash era.
  15. This is a May 1985 episode posted by oldtimesuds. You have to go to Youtube to watch it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O86H0SQHgDk How long before Sherry Mathis left? I'm not fond of the matronly way they dressed her, but I think she has chemistry with Joe Lambie. Was this written as a love story until they put her with Hogan or was she never in a real romance with Lloyd Kendall? How long was TR with Liza and Travis before he died? TR is draped in the bottom of the barrel for '80s hair and wardrobe! Who was the other young guy besides Danny? It's too bad they didn't keep Danny around. But John Lopreino certainly got a good role on OLTL. Is that girl (who played, I think, Vicky on Another Life) really Quinn's sister? Louise Shaffer really does play Stephanie as Rae Woodard in kookier outfits. It's strange to see Lisa Peluso as Wendy. I have never seen a lot of Wendy so I never know whether she was supposed to be a heroine or a vixen. I forgot she was with Quinn. I actually like the therapy scenes. They're very well-written and acted, without being too preachy.

  17. It's too bad no other soap hired Jonelle Allen. I could have seen her as a Sheila recast on OLTL. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37fBZmgSHQM
  18. I don't remember Granholm being all that popular with liberals. I remember very early hype for her as governor, up to about 2004, but then she didn't create jobs, and she just held on after that because of national waves against Republicans and because Michigan Republicans are generally not overly appealing. It took some random millionaire who had no ties to the Michigan GOP to win. Speaking of media darling governors, do you know anyone who will vote for Romney because Chris Christie has endorsed him? I know the media just adores Christie, because he hates the right people, and he yells and stomps his foot and gets them swooning, but is there any Republican primary voter who was waiting for bated breath about who Christie would support?
  19. Rauch called her a dog? That's awful. Mary Kay Adams was very striking - she looked like the old Hollywood legends in their prime. I thought she was OK in her return. She and Ross had a sweet, poignant chemistry, which made sense, given that Ross would want the anti-Blake. She was also sweet with Ron Raines, and most of the time his attempts at relationships with women were as believable as Liberace.
  20. Thank you so much. It's funny because Seneca was never quite was he described.
  21. If Ron had played the role as tougher and less of the gramps from the Werther's Original ads, he might have had less sweaters.
  22. Thanks. I couldn't remember whether they interacted in 1998/99. The Nolaerobic story is so badly written, and their exit is so rushed and depressing.
  23. I guess when India came back in 1999 Alex was gone again, since Marj left for AMC. I don't think they overlapped that time. Do you mean the stout woman in this clip, as her assistant? In one of the other clips on that channel, she (Jane) tells Alex she's leaving to go to a hospital somewhere. I think Beverlee got shrill at times of the biggest anger for Alex - I seem to remember her being like this when everything was going wrong with Nick and Mindy and Roger. Usually she was more reserved. I didn't know she was friends with Maeve. What did you think of Mary Kay and John Bolger? It's still odd to me sometimes how quickly they moved away from Phillip/Beth. I guess they knew GA was leaving.
