I didn't realize we'd ever seen Anton. So he was in one of Penny's 1988 returns? I've only seen a bit of that (a conversation with Nancy about Mac, and then when she and Amy came back for their wedding). I wish I'd seen him. I just have to thank you again for all this info. It's a bit surprising to me that they had two characters named Marion a few years after each other. I have a behind the scenes thing somewhere which has Konrad's Grant - by then he was labeled as formerly playing Grant. I will post it when I find it again. It's odd to me because Goutman brought Penny back at Christmas 2000. Unless Rosemary couldn't return, there was no reason for her not to at least be at Nancy's funeral. While I will always appreciate Goutman allowing Lucinda and Barbara back on the frontburner in ATWT's last year, I will never be able to forget the shocking lack of vets who went unmentioned - not even unseen, but unmentioned - in ATWT's last year.

I didn't think Pat would be getting a love interest again (outside of the "comedy" stuff with Peggy) so I'm looking forward to this, even if it probably will just be short-term. I'm looking forward to seeing what he will be like. With Lydia for a mother he's probably going to be very weak-kneed. I guess this will lead to some war between Janine and Pat.

I know. I didn't realize he was 86. Everyone ages but he's still very lucid and together. I never have read their book yet so it was nice to hear a little more from them, and on interesting topics.

It's a shame. Honestly I can see why Barbara went, but I think they should have kept Sara at least. This was a canary in the coal mine as GL/P&G then went on to dump so many others in the next few years, including characters who could have driven story for a long time to come, like Justin. I also think it was a mistake to kill off Jackie.

That was also one of the first stories I saw ED's Ashley then, so it kind of tainted her version of the character for me. Thanks for the SON scans. At the time I was surprised and happy they got Heather Tom back so quickly. Sadly that will never happen again. I get tired of hearing "so and so should be Victoria!" Victoria is dead. No actress matters.

So Joe Werner was still around at this time? I wonder why they didn't consider keeping Sarah and putting her with Justin again after they killed Jackie off in 1982. That stuff with the Holly/Ed breakup is the type of contrived soap writing that annoys me.

That was the first Weekly or one of the first I got. Thanks for posting this, as mine is long gone...

I wish Bill Bell had had a chance to lay out, in detail, what the plan for Blade and Blade/Ashley was. I know that the story was affected by Brenda's maternity leave but it was still a very meandering and strange story, and frankly, I can't think of a lot of actors less suited to a dual role than Michael Tylo. I just hated the idea of women fighting over being pregnant by him, and I thought it made Ashley look incredibly pathetic. I see that story as the start of the Victor worship that went on to devour the show.

Cole and Ashley were together for about six months or a year after Eileen returned. They took a while to ease her back in...unfortunately it was with the disgusting sperm storyline.

Robin Christopher auditioned for Evie on Search for Tomorrow after Colleen Dion left. She then auditioned for Cecelia on Loving...which Colleen Dion got.

The funny thing is at the time I didn't mind Shari Ashley and Cole. I think it might have been because she was so horrible with everyone that he at least calmed her down. I remember just hating her when she was yapping about Jack and Diane, and Dina, and such. She was so unsympathetic. It's hard to imagine a man like Cole ever being on Y&R today.
