The Tracy Quartermaine Lovefest
This being Father's Day, it was kind of surprising that I was looking through some magazines and ended up finding this. I decided to post. It's a June 1992 Soap Opera Magazine question about when you began to see your father as a friend and not just a parental figure.

Thanks for typing that up. I wish we could see some of these stories. That's interesting about how management forced the story to become more safe. Who was the blonde and blue eyed guy?

"Secret Storm" memories.
I'm so glad you got to see this. I knew you hadn't been here much this year so I wasn't sure you were still able to get e-mails. As soon as I saw this on Youtube I knew you'd want to watch. You're right, the organ music is effective. The theme is also very soothing and draws you in. I like how understated the wardrobe is and the emotions too - it seems so adult; people are actually having conversations. Was Amy married to Nic Coster at this time? I felt strongly about the guy who was hooked on heroin. I wonder what happened to him.

Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
Thanks. Was one of Cruz's relatives in the story about Hayley being run over? I thought she might have been the girl who was backhanded by her boyfriend/the killer. I was also going to ask - if I already have my apologies, I forget these things - what you thought of Courtney Capwell. All I generally know of her or reaction to her was someone writing a letter to Diva Von Dish saying she and her story and relationship were boring and cliched.

I wish I could see Savage. She sounds interesting, and quite different from Christine. It also seems like she and Clay had more of a grand passion type of love than they did when Christine was in the role. Did you know Savage was only 13 months older than the last guy who played Rick Alden?

When I try to watch on Youtube I keep getting in the middle of some story about Kelly's memories of a "ghost city" - what was that story about? Oh and did you see my question about the Castillos?

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I don't see a need to kill Bianca. I don't miss her that much, mostly because she was so isolated and Santer turned her return into months of her shouting at Ian and throwing fits in restaurants, but the character does have some long-running and moving relationships, with Carol, Whitney, Pat, among others. If Patsy won't return then just have her stay out of Walford and have the kids shuffled back and forth. I don't know if Ricky would work without her but I'd give it a try.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
No, but this is an area the show has been trying with for years, especially since Dennis left. There have been so many misfires (Deano, Callum, Danny). So in that area, Ryan seemed popular, even if he wasn't exactly a dynamic presence.

True, but I don't think Greg will be around much longer.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I wonder if he really did want to leave or if they wrote him out. Perhaps he and his wife want out of the limelight? Ryan is a jerk and not exactly exciting, but he's also the only beefcake they have. Maybe they think the new Moons will replace him.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
It's always tough for me to recall that when I started watching ATWT, Margo and Tom had a lot of fun, romantic, silly scenes. At the time, I greatly enjoyed them. This was pre-Internet, pre-knowing anyone else had ever played Margo and Tom, and most of all-pre ATWT draining the life out of the characters to a shocking degree. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eugi33WTME&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL I love this scene too. Lyla was such a wonderful character. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km5TAXZKk9U&feature=mh_lolz&list=FLTYls32YlvSQ

Kitty Foyle
- Kitty Foyle
From the June 1958 TV Radio Mirror.- Kitty Foyle
A thread for Kitty Foyle, the short-lived daytime soap based on the film Ginger Rogers won an Oscar for. A radio version had run from 42-44. According to Chris Schemering's book, for publicity the producers went on a lengthy talent hunt, involving over 200 actresses, before casting Kathleen Murray. Kitty wasn't introduced until five weeks into the show's run (which makes no sense to me and I wonder if that's why the show didn't last longer). When the show failed, Variety blamed the weak scripts and was surprised, considering that Carleton E. Morse (of One Man's Family) was the headwriter. The show was produced by Charles Irving, directed by Hal Cooper, and packaged by Henry Jaffee Enterprises. The show opened with location shots of downtown Philly. It aired on NBC at 2:30 PM EST. The run was January 13-June 27, 1958. Kitty Foyle - Kathleen Murray Ed Foyle - Bob Hastings Pop Foyle - Ralph Dunne Sophie Foyle - Kay Medford Mac Foyle - Larry Robinson Wyn Strafford - William Redfield Molly Scharf - Judy Lewis Rosie Rittenhouse - Les Damon Stacy Lee Balla - Marie Worsham Also featuring Patty Duke, Teri Keane, Karl Weber, Ginger McManus, Lee bergere- Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
It always amazes me when I hear "Corrie is the comedy soap" and "Corrie isn't depressing like Eastenders." The only comedy on the show now is ugly putdowns. If it's not more depressing it's because the show never commits to telling any story all the way through - they will always skip most of the aftermath and most of the buildup, because it's easier to have the same half-dozen scenes again and again, followed by a week of hysteria, followed by nothing.- Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
Apparently Michelle insisted on a Northern accent because she didn't want to have the same accent she had in Eastenders. You'd think she would be more concerned about her inability to move her face. The show is heartless. Collinson has taken any heart Corrie had left. It's also rigidly plot-driven - characters like Tracy or Carla go from genius to chump within an episode. It's a miserable experience.- Loving/The City Discussion Thread
She also reminds me of a vampy Julianne Morris. When I was reading about Brian Fitzpatrick, who played Rick Alden for a while before Rick was killed off, they said that he was only thirteen months younger than Elizabeth. Wow. She seemed to handle it fine, but that must be a bit strange to work with.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I think Sonni and Alex fell out because of Sonni's schemes with Alan. I can't remember. Or something with Roger? Kim Zimmer talked about the scenes she and Michelle had on a rotting rope bridge in Venezuela or wherever, and how Michelle was terrified, and Kim had to go and chug down several straight vodkas to get through it. I should watch more of the full 80's episodes while I still can, to see the story for myself. I've just seen clips. Speaking of clips, I like this scene with Josh and Trish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJr9uBLMxw8&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

For me there's a difference between snapping and methodically plotting out murder. And the show then still tried to paint her as a heroine. No thanks. I do wish Pat wasn't written as a plot device, but I think this is kind of similar to where she was when she let people believe Janine killed Laura. She was very badly hurt by Janine last year. - Kitty Foyle
