  1. I think Sonni and Alex fell out because of Sonni's schemes with Alan. I can't remember. Or something with Roger? Kim Zimmer talked about the scenes she and Michelle had on a rotting rope bridge in Venezuela or wherever, and how Michelle was terrified, and Kim had to go and chug down several straight vodkas to get through it. I should watch more of the full 80's episodes while I still can, to see the story for myself. I've just seen clips. Speaking of clips, I like this scene with Josh and Trish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJr9uBLMxw8&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL
  2. She was pretty good on GL. She's a very unique actress and was especially unique to GL at that time, and was a real contrast to Kim Zimmer. She became a very popular character. I liked her friendship with Alex, which didn't end well.
  3. For me there's a difference between snapping and methodically plotting out murder. And the show then still tried to paint her as a heroine. No thanks. I do wish Pat wasn't written as a plot device, but I think this is kind of similar to where she was when she let people believe Janine killed Laura. She was very badly hurt by Janine last year.
  4. For me the buried alive story destroyed the character. Tanya has given Rainie many chances over the years, and Rainie has always gone back to drugs and several times this has gone on around Tanya's kids (she even hit Abi up for money to buy drugs, didn't she.) I don't have a problem buying that she'd sacrifice her sister to keep some of her lies straight.
  5. I haven't seen him...ever, actually, but I don't know if he would have been any more of an odd replacement than Nick Walker.
  6. Collinson has completely destroyed Carla and has badly bungled the Frank story, to the point where many fans were cheering him and trashing Maria. This story will get all kinds of hype, because Collinson gets hype no matter how bad the show is, but unless the guy who plays Frank wakes from his coma and Carla stops changing her personality based on the day of the week, then it's a waste of time. What did you think of Michelle Collins and her bad accent?
  7. She had a lot of story with Dot and Ian a few years ago, when Santer destroyed her character. She would also have strong ties to Janine, since they went to school together.
  8. In spring 1990, when Brian Fitzpatrick got the recast role of Rick Alden on Loving, he mentioned that he'd previously gotten close to winning the roles of Max on OLTL and Jamie on AW.
  9. It wouldn't be "big", but someone at DS claimed that they talked with Gemma Bissix and Gemma left the impression she might be back at EE. Some also think this may be Sean Slater. I sure hope not... It's weird how much I can enjoy Tanya when she's around Syed, yet with just about anyone else I want Janine to throw her off a cliff.
  10. Thanks - this was one of the first articles I read about SB. Do you know how the person who scanned that managed to get the full page? I never have been able to with Weeklys.
  11. Why do you think they didn't go for Kelly/Ric? Didn't it seem like they struggled with Cruz's family (although I know the guy who played his father won an Emmy). I'm glad you enjoyed the article. You're such a big fan I am never sure if you've already seen these but I'm glad you hadn't. I have one of Carrington Garland from around this time, if I can ever find it again. I really liked her when I watched the show back then - it sucks she never ended up on any other soaps.
  12. I meant never reconciling with Edmund at all, and instead giving her a new life. She and Edmund were back together for about a year before the Zach story started, weren't they? I can't remember.
  13. I liked Maureen mostly because of her relationship with Aidan, and because it meant they weren't going back to the long-suffering, weepy, sanctimonious lady of Wildwind. Unfortunately the stories for Maureen/Maria pretty much sucked. They never should have put her back with Edmund, even after she did get her memory back. They could have found a new love interest for her.
  14. Thanks for sharing this with us. What did you think of the ending? Sad to see a long running show go.
  15. It could be. Considering how Malone ended up damaging the Lords quite a bit (whether he meant to or not), I could see why he wanted to write some out.
  16. I liked Jason mostly for his relationships with Marty and Dorian. He was self-righteous but he was a loyal friend to them, although Dorian was in self-destruct mode at the time. I miss soap characters like that - hotheads who can still be nice guys and can be used to support stories of strong female characters. I've never understood why they fired Palance, since the show didn't really have a lot of younger leading men at the time. It was short-sighted, as Dan Wolek could have been an integral part of story for years, instead of various ciphers in the doctor role. Not to mention his ties to Viki, although the show has run as fast as possible from most of her family for a long time.
  17. For me Maria was damaged by all the baby hysteria and then that very creepy scene where Dimitri boned her.
  18. http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/newt-gingrich-charity-paid-cash-gingrich-profit-business/story?id=13804431&singlePage=true
  19. I didn't watch very often at the time but I thought some stuff was OK. I thought Lily was more intelligent - she quickly realized David had bugged her home, and when she saw the "sex tape" of Molly and Holden, she quickly realized Holden was unconscious and she went to a video editor at WOAK and he showed her how the tape had been spliced or whatever, which made her realize Molly had set it all up. I remember one of the soap magazines talking about how often she worked food and eating into the scripts.
  20. Yeah I know! I was more fascinated by Eva, who played a noble/long-suffering character, being styled in such a sexy fashion, while Sydney, who played a vixen at the time, was very demure (aside from the plunging neckline).
  21. I was not able to watch regularly during any period when Shannon "died." When I started watching again, she was gone. I was sad, since I liked her a lot, and I was confused when characters would talk about her shrunken head. I still have never seen any of this. I find it strange as she is there up to May 1990 and seems to have no problems or worries. When exactly did she go? Barbara being pregnant with John's baby. Ben and Camille dating and Camille's mother wanting her to get together with her married ex-lover doctor. Ben being arrested for a mugging, and being persecuted by a racist cop. Molly's schemes to get Holden, like drugging him and filming the two of them in bed. Damien the priest. David bugging Lily's house and being revealed as not really Lucinda's son (I think - that story never made sense to me and I don't know the timeline). Carly's return at the Montana cattle ranch. I loved Julie and the ransom money story. I have a tape somewhere of Julie going ice skating and seeing "angel" Julie and "devil" Julie. That story, and the scenes with Pete, tapped into Susan Marie Snyder's particular talents in a way which was often overlooked. I'm going to spare you my rant about the decision to send Aaron to Julie, mother of the year (!) and then having Julie apparently dying for years on end (!!).
  22. It surprises me too. I can't see him as Clint (although I can't see anyone but CR as Clint) but he would have been good on Y&R.
  23. Thanks again. It does sound interesting. So was that the end of Doreen's story? What would you have done with her? Do you think Jessie and Mike would have worked? I don't know anything about Shearin's Mike. I guess he was right after Assante. This was what I posted a few months ago on that Geraldine Court item.
  24. I thought you'd like those two scans...Deas was OK too but I agree Marx was the hottest (at least of the Toms we actually saw onscreen), especially when he had a hairy chest and the beard. I wish we'd seen a little more of Klein's tenure. What I remember was dumb, like the racism story, but I also liked some of the stuff, such as David/Emily.
