BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos
The problem with this information is that it doesn't indicate a timeline for the average, nor whether it is based on Live+7 or multiplatform viewing. Otherwise, 2.1 million viewers on the surface sounds great, and is an improvement over The Talk, as that show never did well in delayed viewing, but is 2.1 million viewers good for CBS when B&B/Y&R are doing in excess of three million among multiplatform viewing? My understanding is that Deadline's story is in response to my article about several shows hitting series lows, including Beyond the Gates, in Live+Same Day.

LATEST RATINGS: April 14-18, 2025
Whatever happened on Wednesday, April 16, General Hospital needs more of that because it started the week on a very Talk-like level, at 0.17s in Women 18-49. Had it not been for those, it would have beaten Beyond the Gates in that demo. However, I don't understand its performance among Women 25-54. Why is BTG topping the show in this particular demo with ease? Why is GH so far behind the pack in this demo? Day W18-49 Rating W25-54 Rating Duration (In Minutes) Wednesday 0.25 0.34 60

ARTICLE: Several Daytime Broadcast Shows Hit New Series Lows Among Households & Total Viewers – RATINGS
For the second week in a row, several daytime broadcast shows hit new season or series lows, particularly among Total Viewers and Households, during the week of April 14-18, 2025. “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.179 million), the ABC News broadcast marketed as the third hour of “Good Morning America” (2.665 million), was down week-to-week among Total Viewers and hit a 0.7 rating among Households, marking series lows for the program in both categories. Among the key sales demographics that help set ad rates for daytime television, “GMA3” was up in Women 18-49 both week-to-week (0.15 rating vs. 0.13 rating) and compared to the same week last year (0.15 rating vs. 0.14 rating). Among Women 25-54, the news show was up year-over-year (0.15 rating vs. 0.14 rating). “General Hospital” (1.759 million) was down -226,000 viewers compared to the same week last year (1.759 million vs. 1.985 million), once again marking the largest year-over-year drop across daytime broadcast. That said, the show saw an uptick among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54. For the week, the ABC soap averaged a 0.20 rating among Women 18-49, up +0.01 week-to-week and year-over-year. Meanwhile, the show’s 0.32 rating among Women 25-54 was up +0.03 week-to-week, and down by the same amount year-over-year. “The Young and the Restless” (3.051 million) was up week-to-week among Total Viewers, Women 18-49 (0.29 rating; +0.03) and Women 25-54 (0.49 rating; +0.04). After eight weeks on the air, “Beyond the Gates” (1.544 million) hit a new low among Total Viewers and Households (1.0 rating). However, demographically, the show continues to perform well. The soap opera was on par with its week ago performance among Women 18-49 (0.21 rating) and was up +0.02 compared to the year ago performance for former time slot holder “The Talk” (0.21 rating vs. 0.19 rating). The series saw its best performance since week two among Women 25-54 with a 0.37 rating, marking the show’s second-best rating thus far in the demo, up +0.02 week-to-week and +0.08 compared to the year ago performance of “The Talk” (0.37 rating vs. 0.29 rating). The second half-hour of “The Price is Right” (4.249 million) tied its season high among Women 25-54 (0.63 rating) while gaining +219,000 viewers week-to-week and +64,000 year-over-year. Ditto for the first half-hour (3.708 million), albeit among Total Viewers, which was up +133,000 week-to-week and +16,000 year-over-year. ARTICLE: ‘Beyond The Gates’ To Be Fully Preempted Due To CBS Coverage Of UEFA Champions League Soccer Games
For the fourth year in a row, CBS will preempt the bulk of its daytime lineup all or in part on Tuesday, April 29; Wednesday, April 30; Tuesday, May 6 and Wednesday, May 7 with the network once again set to broadcast UEFA Champions League Soccer games, which will also be carried live on Paramount+. The only show on the network that will air without interruption coast to coast will be “The Price is Right,” which airs at 11:00 a.m. ET/10:00 a.m. PT. Meanwhile, soap operas “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” will air uninterrupted on the East Coast but will be preempted on the West Coast (Mountain and Pacific Time Zones). Like “The Talk” before it, “Beyond the Gates” is the only CBS show that will be fully preempted on all four days. In its place, the network will air “UEFA Champions League Today,” a pre-game show providing news and highlights about the UEFA Champions League. “Beyond the Gates” will air original episodes on Monday, April 28; Thursday, May 1; Friday, May 2; Monday, May 5; Thursday, May 8 and Friday, May 9. As a result of the preemptions, “Beyond the Gates” will air just six episodes between Monday, April 28 and Friday, May 9, bringing the show’s total episode count by that point to 49. Except in markets where “Let’s Make a Deal” airs after “Beyond the Gates,” the game show will air without interruption in markets where it airs preceding “The Price is Right,” although select CBS stations can opt to air the program in a later time slot, including overnight or on sister stations. The same option is available for both “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.” UEFA Champions League Soccer UEFA Champions League An annual competition organized by the Union of European Football Associations, UEFA Champions League Soccer sees the top 16 clubs in the European tournament vying for the Coupe des Clubs Champions Européens (aka European Cup) trophy. BTG, Y&R, B&B: April-May 2025 soccer disrupting CBS soap broadcasts
Just a point of reference since it doesn't seem to be cleared up in the thread, but Beyond the Gates will only air three episodes next week as it will be preempted for UEFA coverage on Tuesday, April 29 and Wednesday, April 30, exactly the same way the network preempted The Talk in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Therefore, no episodes will be aired in any time zone or any country on those days, including Canada. What CHCH will program in the slot on those two days is not yet clear.

Nope. Not unless people are willing to pay a monthly subscription fee to sustain the site. Advertisers don't like curse words, and they pay the bills. Looking forward to seeing your updates. When we implemented the time limit, I didn't realize at the time how it would impact people like you and what you do for the love of soaps. I'm sorry it took so long to resolve this problem, and I'm glad to hear you are still so passionate about continuing to update the treasure trove of information that makes the SON Community so unique.

Edit Post Time Limit Removed
Dear Members: After implementing a 60-minute edit post time limit several months ago, the administrators have agreed to remove the setting due to newly available internal metrics that will allow us to better manage records for those who've abused the edit ability, which was the cause of the time limit being implemented in the first place. As such, effective Thursday, April 24 at 8:45 p.m. ET/5:45 p.m. PT, the edit time limit has been removed for all registered members, allowing posters, if necessary, to once again edit their posts without worry about a time limit. Note: As has been the case since the beginning of the SON Community, an exception to this change is archived forums, threads, topics, posts, polls, etc. Edits are not possible once a post or similar is classified as archived. This includes requests to delete posts or threads made in the past, regardless of when it was first published.

LATEST RATINGS: April 7-11, 2025
What's ironic is that I was hoping for Beyond the Gates to follow The Young and the Restless when it was first announced because, demographically, the latter series was stronger in Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, not to mention Black people. This remains true, but recently, The Bold and the Beautiful has been beating Y&R on certain days, including the previous week in the demos. Clearly, CBS knew better. That said, Beyond the Gates needs to figure out a way to attract the B&B viewers to stay and watch the show, specifically older Women, as it's clear the under 54 demos are decent enough. It's the Women 55+ that haven't picked up the show, which explains why BTG loses nearly 1.1 million viewers from B&B.

ARTICLE: Breaking News Coverage Tanks Daytime Broadcast, Many Shows Hit Season & Series Lows – RATINGS
With preemptions and interruptions across the board on Monday, April 7 and Wednesday, April 9, due to breaking news coverage on the stock market and tariff wars between the United States and China, the week of April 7-11, 2025 saw several daytime broadcast shows hit season or series lows in various ratings categories. Continuing to rank last among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.214 million) tied its season low in the former category (0.13 rating) for the fourth time this season while hitting a new season low in the latter category (0.18 rating). Among Total Viewers, the ABC News broadcast, which is marketed as the third hour of “Good Morning America” (2.732 million), hit a new season low among Total Viewers, down -120,000 week-to-week (1.214 million vs. 1.334 million) and -304,000 year-over-year (1.214 million vs. 1.518 million). This was also one of the lowest, if not the lowest, performances ever for “GMA3” among Total Viewers. “GMA3: What You Need to Know ABC News As noted last week, “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” (1.159 million) continues to be a cause for concern for NBC as the current iteration of the fourth hour of the “TODAY” brand hit a new season low, and likely a series low, among Total Viewers. Compared to the same week last year, the program was down -359,000 viewers (1.159 million vs. 1.518 million) from how “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” performed and down -30,000 viewers from its week ago performance (1.159 million vs. 1.189 million), with the gap between it and “NBC News Daily” (1.136 million) now just +23,000 viewers. That said, “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” continues to perform on par with the bottom half of daytime broadcast among Women 18-49 (0.19 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.30 rating), including “General Hospital” (1.796 million). Speaking of the ABC sop opera, it saw a minor decline of -15,000 viewers from the week ago period (1.796 million vs. 1.811 million), but was down a more substantial -218,000 viewers compared to the same week last year (1.796 million vs. 2.014 million). Demographically, the show’s 0.19 rating among Women 18-49 was down -0.02 from one week earlier (0.19 rating vs 0.21 rating), and its 0.29 rating among Women 25-54 was down -0.03 week-to-week (0.29 rating vs. 0.32 rating). Compared to the same week last year, “General Hospital” was down -0.05 among Women 18-49 (0.19 rating vs. 0.24 rating) and down -0.09 among Women 25-54 (0.29 rating vs. 0.38 rating), marking daytime broadcast’s largest year-over-year drop among Women 25-54. “Beyond The Gates” CBS As “Beyond the Gates” (1.557 million) continues to perform well enough in the key sales demographics, its performance among Total Viewers might be a subject of concern. After seven weeks, the series is averaging just 1.650 million viewers, with three of those weeks below 1.6 million viewers. That said, the new soap opera saw significant gains over the same seven-week period last year when “The Talk” held the time slot, with the series up +401,000 viewers (1.650 million vs. 1.249 million) over the since canceled talk show. Meanwhile, among the key demos, the show was down -0.01 week-to-week in both Women 18-49 (0.21 rating vs. 0.22 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.35 rating vs. 0.36 rating). Compared to the same week last year, “Beyond the Gates” was up +0.04 among Women 18-49 over the year ago performance of “The Talk” (0.21 rating vs. 0.17 rating) and up +0.11 among Women 25-54 (0.35 rating vs. 0.24 rating), the largest year-over-year gain among daytime broadcast. While “The Young and the Restless” (2.998 million) and “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.624 million) both fell from their recent ratings high performances, they were virtually on par with their year ago period among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54. In the case of the half-hour soap, “The Bold and the Beautiful” was up +0.02 year-over-year among Women 25-54 (0.44 rating vs. 0.42 rating) whileflat year-over-year among Women 18-49 rating (0.25 rating). Wrap-Up What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of April 7-11, 2025 among Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including a week-to-week and year-over-year performance comparison. Note*: The year ago performance for “Beyond the Gates” is compared to “The Talk.” Ditto for “Today with Jenna & Friends,” which is compared with “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna.” Week of April 7-11, 2025 Rankers Women 18-49 Rating Rank / Show / NetworkThis WeekLast Week20241. DAYS: Role SORAS'd
While the issue is sound, there is nothing wrong with constructive criticism of an actor or actress regarding how they look, primarily on the show, or even how their real-life look might impact the character they play or will play in the future. Even their age can/should be subject to comment, as it can play a part in one's belief in their casting for a role, which is likely based on a specific age. Additionally, if age shouldn't be a factor/discussed, Hollywood should stop including that line in their casting calls when they seek actors for key roles. An example of this would be Beyond the Gates. The show portrays Dani and Bill as having been married for 30 years and having two adult daughters, making them at least 49 years old at the time of the show's premiere. Meanwhile, their portrayers don't look that old and aren't exactly that age. Ironically, some of their younger characters are played by much older actors. Therefore, I do not see anything wrong with fans discussing these matters, unless, of course, it's specifically done in a manner that is negative or disparaging to an individual. As for sharing posts from social media, I'm sorry, I completely disagree with you here. I pay for bandwidth and storage fees to manage this website. I should not be burdened with having to pay more to host publicly available content shared on the servers of billion-dollar companies by individuals of voting and legal drinking age who posted the content themselves on said platforms. There is also the legal aspect of someone re-posting the content in general, as videos, for instance, are subject to copyright. Embedding or linking to social media posts is the preferred method for any content shared on the message boards that originated on social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky, X (formerly Twitter) and the like. I will say, though, sharing a screengrab from an episode of one of the shows for episode discussion purposes is no different than sharing a social media post. Anything one says on the internet, particularly in the public space, is subject to a response. We might not agree on that, but that is my stance on the matter. Lastly, if someone enters the business of acting and can't handle the response by the consumers they expect to make money off of as part of their careers, they should rethink their profession. This business is cutthroat, and they will endure so much more than a fan on this message board criticising them for their looks. Mind you, I don't think I've seen anyone here do that in a negative sense. ------ On re-reading, if I misunderstood you on this line, please let me know: If I misunderstood, I will say linking to one's social media is fine. However, this is a message board, and to respond to a topic, you need to see the material. This is why I've been re-publishing the articles on the main SON website on the message boards. When I only linked to the article, no one commented on it. Engagement is a huge part of why the SON Community is successful. If only linked to other websites without providing any context whatsoever, we'd be a dead board walking. I'm not saying that full articles from other websites or images should be lifted from other websites, far from it, I'm just saying that just linking to something without giving people a broader understanding or context would be problematic. If I still misunderstood after all of the above. Please clarify.

ARTICLE: Heidi Montag & Social Media Influencer Markell Washington Join Spencer Pratt & Lauralee Bell For ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ Fashion Show Episodes
Starting with the Thursday, April 24 episode, “The Bold and the Beautiful” will put on its latest fashion show extravaganza featuring guest appearances by “The Young and the Restless” star Lauralee Bell (Christine Blair), social media influencer Markell Washington, and reality TV stars Heidi Montag and husband Spencer Pratt. News of the fashion show first came to light in mid-March when word broke that Bell would be making a three-episode return appearance on the daytime drama series before eventually reprising her role on “The Young and the Restless” in June. “You never know when [executive producer/head writer] Brad Bell calls, if I’m going to be asked a question or if I can come to ‘B&B’ for a couple of days,” Bell said to Deadline about her return to the half-hour soap, and speaking of her real-life brother. This marks her third time appearing on the show for a guest arc. As for Pratt, it had long been suspected that he would be joined by his wife, Montag, as part of his appearance, which was revealed in a video post he shared across his social channels last month. Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, Markell Washington, Lauralee Bell CBS In the post, Pratt could be seen stepping out of the Logan mansion set’s doors, stopping in front of the camera recording him, take a burrito out of the jetted pocket of his suit jacket, do a quick little dance and then take a bite out of the burrito, which has become a staple of many of his recent posts where he can be seen highlighting the popular food item, including breakfast burritos and burritos in a bowl. The video is highlighted by background music from the 2010 song “I’ll Do It” by his wife which was remixed earlier this year and features Pitbull on the new cut. With more than 10.9 million followers on TikTok and more than 1.2 million on Instagram, Markell Washington is known for his skits that tend to go for the dramatic when not taking a comedic and fashionable turn. Washington’s TikTok bio is captioned, “We only have one life so live it to the fullest,” likely an indirect reference to the defunct soap “One Life to Live.” Check out photos from the fashion show below. CBS The fashion show episodes of “The Bold and the Beautiful” are set to air on Thursday, April 24; Friday, April 25; and Monday, April 28.
