Ads at the bottom of iPad screen - obscuring multi-quote button
I agree. I do not personally control the advertisements or their settings on the message boards -- that's the job of our new ad service provider -- but with people like you letting us know of their experience (good and bad) on the SON Community, and how the advertisements could impact that in a negative way, it helps to make the platform as user friendly as much as possible without harming the platform itself from a financial perspective. Personally, I'm happy we changed ad services as this issue appears to have resolved even quicker than even I imagined, and on a weekend at that.

Ads at the bottom of iPad screen - obscuring multi-quote button
Let me know if the issue has been resolved. I've requested the "X" button to be utilized, if necessary, to help when posting. I'd prefer people not exercising that option as much as possible as that interrupts the financial capabilities for the SON Community, but if it helps with your posting something then use it at will.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll look into it.

DAYS: Resumed production on Tue. 5/4, no official announcement yet from NBC
Sony is bullish when it comes to getting their shows renewed by the networks. Has been for a long time. So bullish they are literally throwing incentives at the networks to keep their shows on the air even when they make little profit, including sharing ownership, if necessary, for a program (see: The Goldbergs for ABC, The Blacklist for NBC). If they are losing money and make absolutely no profit off of DAYS then I can't blame them for cutting and cutting where they have to. If the ratings continue to dwindle for "Days of our Lives" and the show is unprofitable, who is the show being made for then? A business needs money to function and profit from other programs can't continue footing the bill just so fans of a 57-year-old show are happy. For instance, for the longest time this website had been in the red and I could have shut it down at any minute because there were many times where I couldn't afford to keep it going. I've had to make adjustments where I could to cut costs without sacrificing the reader/subscriber experience. If I didn't have a source of personal income outside of the site, and had the ability to use some of it for the site, the SON Community and the main portion of Soap Opera Network would have been shuttered a long time ago. Essentially, it was on borrowed time. This is the same thing for "DAYS." How much more can Sony do to find ways to make a dollar on a product that is losing its value the longer it is on? Unless there is a huge increase in social media buzz, magazine covers or similar due to a huge storyline that resonates with the masses, this show is just going to continue chugging along on a bare bones budget (worse than a high school play) just so no one gets blamed by the fans for canceling such an iconic show. @KMan101 Apologies. My response above veered off of why I quoted your post. Was mostly a long rant.

That's actually a pretty good promo, especially compared to most promos they release. The music is cool too. I just don't like the latter few seconds with the flashing white and the audio silence.

GH may sweeps
TV shows, and soaps in particular, believe that when a character is despised but is generating massive viewer feedback that it's a sign that the character should remain on the show. You're talking about the character and responding to the character on social media and message boards. That to them means the character has made a significant impression. It's when you say nothing, good or bad, that's when they get rid of a character. Think about it.

DAYS: Resumed production on Tue. 5/4, no official announcement yet from NBC
If NBC is looking to cancel "Days of our Lives," I think we're going to start seeing news of replacements being ordered like "Guess Who?" https://deadline.com/2021/04/nbc-developing-unscripted-hasbro-board-game-guess-who-endemol-shine-north-america-1234739688/ It's not mentioned whether the network is doing it for primetime or daytime but based on the concept it could work either way.

Neilson VS Streaming.
Numbers for streaming are not publicly available and if they are, it’ll come from the networks themselves since they would know all the specifics without Nielsen coming out and saying what their estimations were. Estimations wouldn’t be fact since the networks would know the facts in terms of total viewers, overall views (minutes watched), and the demographics watching (based on age of subscriber). However, we’d have to trust what the networks say as the truth and not biased in any way. And that’ll never happen. With that said, it is highly doubtful that any show is rated based on total viewers. For instance, “Bridgerton” is one the biggest shows ever on Netflix. The streaming service said more than 80 million households/Netflix subscribers watched at least the first two minutes, which is the threshold they use to gauge viewership. Similarly, Nielsen tracks the top 10 streaming shows and movies, separately and together, using the metric of total minutes watched each week based on the total minutes available for a program. The shows are reportedly getting hundreds of millions of minutes of viewing time or a billion depending on the program. Only Netflix and a mix of Disney Plus, HBO Max and Amazon from time to time gets anywhere near the top 10 of Nielsen’s tracking. The soaps would need to stir a massive buzz to even get a pinch of those numbers for us to ever see their stats. If I had to guess, I’d say that the soaps and most streaming shows get small cable numbers in terms of viewership on a streaming platform And by cable numbers I mean in the thousands, but way less than 100,000. These platforms survive on the overall number of programs it offers for the cost it charges. No single show is generating the monthly revenue, and most shows do not breakout on a platform where it always ranks number one or in the top 10 without creating some social buzz in the process. Take “The Mandalorian,” “WandaVision” and “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” for Disney+ or “The Flight Attendant,” “Wonder Woman: 1984” and “Godzilla vs Kong” did for HBO Max. Solid debuts. Held up mostly well in released numbers, but those numbers either came from a press release by the platforms themselves or Nielsen. You could tell the success of something by the buzz it generated on social during the week it was originally watched even if the numbers didn’t come out for several weeks. The soaps have an old audience. Let’s be real. When “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” were going online, we had so many people bitching about watching it for free on Hulu (when Hulu had a free option) or paying a buck or two on iTunes. This was during an era when streaming was blowing up with shows like “House of Cards,” which was getting all the Awards buzz. Fans of yesterday and today still watch the soaps at great majority on their TVs. Not a platform or app. And when the networks list the “popular” shows on their websites it is based on visits to the webpage mostly. Not on people watching full episodes which helps, but that’s not what solely takes it to the top of their respective sites.
