ARTICLE: DAYTIME EMMYS: Nomination for ‘Days of our Lives’ Star Victoria Grace Rescinded Over Submission Error
EXCLUSIVE: Soap Opera Network has learned that the Daytime Emmy nomination for “Days of our Lives” star Victoria Grace is being rescinded due to a submission error. On Wednesday, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) released the full list of nominees for “The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” which included a nomination for Grace in the category of Outstanding Younger Performer in a Daytime Drama Series for her role as Wendy Shin on “Days of our Lives.” However, according to the official rules for this year’s Emmys, to be eligible for the Younger Performer category, entrants must be “no older than 18 years old on at least January 1, 2022.” Grace had already turned 21 in 2021. As a result of the submission error, only three nominees remain in the category. This includes Cary Christopher (Thomas DiMera, “Days of our Lives”), Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks, “General Hospital”) and Henry Joseph Samiri (Douglas Forrester, “The Bold and the Beautiful”). In a statement posted on Instagram, Grace said, “I was honored to be nominated for a Daytime Emmy and to be recognized by the Academy. Unfortunately, there was a huge misunderstanding across the board regarding the rules for this year’s category.” She added, “This is obviously a surprise and I am heartbroken, but in fairness to all, I‘ll be rescinding my nomination. I wish the best of luck to all the nominees. I will continue to work hard to earn another Daytime Emmy nomination next year!” Grace joined the cast of “Days of our Lives” in October 2022 when she reprised the role of Wendy Shin after first appearing in the spin-off series “Beyond Salem: Chapter Two” in July 2022. Both shows are now streaming on Peacock. ARTICLE: DAYTIME EMMYS: ‘The Bay’ Celebrates First-Ever Daytime Drama Nominations
Although “The Bay” has previously won 23 Daytime Emmy Awards (out of 56 previous nominations) over its seven-season run, the drama series has never directly competed against long-running soaps “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless.” That all changed on Wednesday when the series received three Daytime Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Daytime Drama Series, Outstanding Daytime Drama Series Writing Team and Outstanding Daytime Drama Series Directing Team. “I am so incredibly grateful. These nominations could NOT be possible with [sic] my amazingly stellar cast and crew who help in so many ways bring this show to life and make it happen,” said showrunner and series creator Gregori J. Martin. “I am so incredibly thankful to you all. Thank you #TheBayFamily. These nominations belong to all of us! I love you.” The first ten episodes from the show’s seventh season are currently streaming across multiple platforms in the U.S., including Tubi, the FAST (free ad-supported streaming television) service owned by FOX Corporation, Amazon Prime Video and Popstar! TV. Additional episodes from season seven will be released soon while production on the show’s eighth season has already been completed. Previous seasons of “The Bay” can be streamed on Tubi, Amazon Prime Video and Peacock in the U.S. and 10 Play in Australia. The Roku Channel has episodes from the show’s first season. “The Bay” (Key Art) Courtesy of LANY Entertainment The series follows the residents of Bay City as they struggle with a shocking cataclysmic event that leaves everyone wondering who lives and who dies while cursed by the spirit of a murdered Senator. The series stars Kristos Andrews (“Survive the Game”), Karrueche Tran (“Bel-Air”), Mary Beth Evans (“Days of Our Lives”), Jacklyn Zeman (“General Hospital”), Mike Manning (“Days of our Lives”), A Martinez (“Santa Barbara”), Brandon Beemer (“Days of our Lives”) and Tristan Rogers (“General Hospital”), along with a multitude of other soap opera veterans and rising stars. ARTICLE: R.I.P. Jerry Springer – Actor, Former Politician and Host of Controversial Daytime Talk Show Dies at 79
Best known for hosting the controversial daytime talk show “The Jerry Springer Show,” which ran for nearly 30 years (from 1991-2018) in broadcast syndication, actor and former politician Jerry Springer has died. He was just 79 years old. According to TMZ, which first reported the news, a family spokesperson informed them Springer was battling a “brief illness.” Sources, however, told the publication that Springer had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few months ago and this week, “he took a turn for the worse.” Springer died Thursday morning peacefully at his home in Chicago, the spokesperson relayed to TMZ. Before becoming a daytime television sensation, Springer ran for U.S. Congress in 1970 but did not win. He was later elected to the Cincinnati City Council in 1971 and became the city’s mayor in 1977. He only served one term, however. Photo by Virginia Sherwood/NBC Following the cancellation of “The Jerry Springer Show,” Springer hosted “Judge Jerry” for three seasons. Distributed by NBCUniversal Syndication Studios, the show featured real cases from real people as Springer provided heard cases and rendered verdicts using a dose of his classic wisdom. Rachel Melvin, Blake Berris, Jerry Springer (“Days of our Lives”) Photo by Paul Drinkwater/NBC As an actor, Springer had more than 40 credits to his name, dating back to his first primetime TV appearance, playing a variation of himself hosting his talk show in a 1993 episode of “Married… with Children.” In 1999, he made an uncredited appearance on the daytime soap opera “Sunset Beach,” playing a census taker named Jerry Fellar. In 2007, he appeared on “Days of our Lives,” playing a gambler named Pete. He shared scenes with Rachel Melvin who played Chelsea and Blake Berris who played Nick on the series at the time. “I really didn’t want to go, but it’s Jerry and I’m like, ‘I want to see the guy and I love him,” said Steve Wilkos, the former head of security for “The Jerry Springer Show” and current host of the daytime talk show “The Steve Wilkos Show,” in an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” following the news of Springer’s passing. His comments were in response to his most recent meeting with Springer, who had called him so they could get together for cigars. “He never told me he was ill. And now, I think that night I saw him was his way of saying goodbye to me without saying goodbye. I wish I would have known. I think in his way he was telling me goodbye,” Wilkos continued, noting their previous discussions surrounded topics like how Jerry’s grandkids were doing, not reminiscing about the past. “He embraced me. He hugged me like he had never done before and he was telling me he loves me,” Wilkos told “Entertainment Tonight” host Kevin Frazier. “We sat down, and I think back now, we were reflecting a lot on the good times that we had, which we normally didn’t do a lot, but this time it was a lot of reflection on the good times that we had together.” Springer is survived by his daughter Katie and his older sister, Evelyn. I truly loved her not only as actress, but as a friend. The lights in the hub of the nurse’s station will now be a little dimmer, but her spirit and light will live on in both the show and our set.” He added, “On behalf of the entire #GH cast and crew, we send our deepest sympathy to her family, friends, and fans. She will be very missed.” In March, the soap aired a special episode dedicated to the actress in which her character’s commitment to helping others is highlighted by her friends and closest colleagues and by a stranger played by Eddy’s real-life friend Yvette Nicole Brown (“Community”). In the March 29 episode, it was revealed that Eddy’s character died shortly after rescuing a woman (played by Brown) from a car crash when the fumes from the accident provoked Epiphany’s existing heart condition. In an interview with TV Insider, Brown spoke highly of her beloved friend, saying, “Sonya was one of the most real people I knew. If she loved you, you knew it. If she didn’t…she could still work with you. She didn’t suffer fools gladly. She had a heart as big as the moon. She was honest. She understood this industry in a way that most people don’t. She navigated things with grace. She gave great advice with a listening ear. She was the first person I’d go to if something was bothering me. I knew she wouldn’t judge me and she’d help me through it.” Taking place at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles, “The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” is set to air LIVE on Friday, June 16 at 9:00 p.m. ET/delayed PT. ARTICLE: ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Star Scott Clifton Talks Pet Adoption; How Bob Barker Helped Grow His Passion for Animal Rescue
Scott Clifton (“The Bold and the Beautiful”) has been an advocate of pet adoption for several years, dating back to when he met Bob Barker, the former host of “The Price is Right.” In celebration of his appearance on the Wednesday, April 26 episode of the daytime game show, Clifton reminisces on how much of an impact Barker made on his life and his passion for animals. In 2014, “The Bold and the Beautiful” featured a storyline where Liam Spencer (Clifton) rescues a cat that he gave to his then-girlfriend, now wife, Hope Logan (played by Kim Matula at the time; now played by Annika Noelle). The storyline incorporated Liam and Hope visiting the South Los Angeles Animal Service Center with episodes featuring Barker along with Brandon McMillan, the then host of CBS’ “Lucky Dog.” Bob Barker, Scott Clifton (“The Bold and the Beautiful”) Sean Smith/JPI Studios “We’ve [previously] had the chance to work with celebrities and people who are well known in the public eye before on the show, and it’s always fun and usually they play themselves and we try to make them feel comfortable and we cater to them and a lot of the consciousness for us is like, ‘Are they going to be cool? Are they used to working with actors?’” Clifton said in the interview with Soap Opera Network at the time. “All of that went out the window once I met Bob. I can’t tell you what an impressive human being he is. He was so noble. He came on, it wasn’t about self-publicity or anything like that; he really just wanted to push this issue and spread awareness on this as much as he could. Now, years later, Clifton tells us, “Bob Barker was one of the most impressive people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting during my tenure at ‘Bold & Beautiful.’” He added, “I remember listening to him speak extemporaneously, in the makeup chair, about pet adoption, fostering, spaying and neutering, and his broader philosophy of animal ethics. It was provocative and inspiring, and made me hope for the chance to help further his noble project, even in the smallest way.” Drew Carey, Scott Clifton (“The Price is Right”) Photo by Sonja Flemming/CBS As for his latest appearance on “The Price is Right,” Clifton didn’t hesitate when asked to participate in one of the themed episodes. “When ‘Price’ asked me to join them for Adoption Week, I remembered that day in the chair and jumped at the opportunity. My conversations with Drew [Carey, current host of ‘The Price is Right’] and the wonderful crew were proof that Mr. Barker’s passion for kindness has never departed that soundstage.” Photo by Sonja Flemming/CBS Scott Clifton, Rachel Reynolds (“The Price is Right”) Photo by Sonja Flemming/CBS “The Price is Right” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” air weekdays on CBS. ARTICLE: Chene Lawson Returning to ‘The Young and the Restless’ as Devon’s Biological Mother, Harmony “Yolanda” Hamilton
Get ready for a family reunion next month when Chene Lawson reprises her role as Harmony “Yolanda” Hamilton, Devon’s (Bryton James) biological mother, on “The Young and the Restless.” Originating the role of Harmony in 2005 during the character’s drug addiction era, Lawson last appeared on the show in 2006 when Harmony left Genoa City shortly after coming onto Neil (Kristoff St. John), the man who adopted Devon alongside his wife Drucilla (Victoria Rowell). Years later, from 2011-2012, Debbi Morgan took over the role of Harmony when the character returned to town. Soon after it was revealed that Tucker McMcall (then played by Stephen Nicholas, now played by Trevor St. John) was Devon’s biological father. With Lawson set to appear over several episodes beginning Friday, May 5, and Shemar Moore set to reprise his role as Malcolm Winters on Monday, May 8, it definitely looks like a reunion is at play for the Winters/Hamilton family. Since departing the daytime drama series, Lawson has made a name for herself as the creator and lead voice actor for the scripted podcast series, “All Things Undone,” a 2023 Webby Award winner. Lawson portrays Mirabelle in the series. The upcoming second season will be available on Audible. For more information about the series, click here. B&B: new remote
That was what did it for me! Let's hope it was the Google translation and not the writer not knowing what the hell they were talking about. This is true! This is true! Ironically, Ronn Moss and Kim Matula played Ridge and Hope the last time the show was in Italy, so it would have made sense for the writer to say "New" Hope for Annika as they did for Thorsten.

ARTICLE: Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Officially Announces Cancellation of ‘Mystery 101’ Series
Nearly two years since fans last saw the adventures of Professor Amy Winslow and Detective Travis Burke in the “Mystery 101” series of movies, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries has officially announced the series has been canceled and concludes with the seventh movie, 2021’s “Mystery 101: Deadly History,” which ended on a major cliffhanger. The series starred Jill Wagner (Amy), Kristoffer Polaha (Travis) and Robin Thomas (Graham Winslow). “We loved making ‘Mystery 101’ and we’re so glad you enjoyed sleuthing along with us,” the network said on its Facebook page yesterday in response to a viewer who had hoped the channel would be making more movies in the series. The post came in response to the network promoting its airing of the second movie, “Mystery 101: Playing Dead,” which was airing as part of a movie marathon on the network. “We want to let you know that our talented sleuths have solved the last mystery and are off the case. In the coming weeks and months there are exciting new mysteries on the way that we know you’ll love!” concluded the network, hoping to deflect from an expected outcry from fans. Kristoffer Polaha, Robin Thomas, Jill Wagner (“Mystery 101”) Photo by Kailey Schwerman/Crown Media “Well kids, looks like the cat’s out of the bag. #Mystery101 has solved its last mystery,” said Polaha on Twitter earlier today following the news. “You are the most incredibly supportive fans ever! We LOVE you! @JillWagner @robinthomas101 & I had the most amazing time entertaining you by bringing Travis, Amy, & Graham to life.” He concluded the post saying, “But…” along with the “winking face” emoji,” likely implying there might be future mysteries people can enjoy on the network even if it doesn’t include the Travis and Amy characters, as played by himself and Wagner. The cancellation news doesn’t come as a surprise as Wagner previously stated she was unaware of where things stood on the series, saying in an Instagram video last April, “I love the people that I worked for and with. I think it has nothing to do with my desire to do another one. Or anybody’s desire to do another one except for the big boy, Hallmark. I think that they are probably going in another direction. I don’t know. I’m not privy to that information.” She added, “So, for my own peace of my mind, I just wanted to tell the fans of the show that I love the show. And if I’m ever given an opportunity to do another one, I certainly will. It has nothing to do with any of that. I just want you guys to know that and to know that I haven’t abandoned the ship. I wish I could give you more detailed information, but I don’t have it.” Watch Wagner’s video on what is now officially the end of “Mystery 101” below. ARTICLE: REPORT: ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Returning to Italy for Location Shoot in Rome
Cast and crew from “The Bold and the Beautiful” are heading back to Italy next month for an all-new location shoot, reports The Hollywood Reporter Rome, the Italian edition of the iconic trade magazine. This marks the soap’s fifth trip to Italy after Lake Como in 1997, Venice in 1999, Portofino in 2002 and Puglia in 2012. According to the publication, at least seven cast members from the show will be around for the three-day shoot, taking place in Rome from May 15-17, including Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan), Thorsten Kaye (Ridge Forrester), Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester), Annika Noelle (Hope Logan), Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer), Matthew Atkinson (Thomas Forrester) and Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter Walton). The show’s executive producer and head writer, Bradley Bell, will join them. Locations scouted by production for filming include Piazza Navona, Piazza di Spagna, the Colosseum and Gianicolo, among others. Photo by Robert Voets/CBS Reportedly, Bell chose the Italian capital city for its “effective romanticism.” Additionally, the show will pay homage to the Italian actors whose voices are dubbed over the Americans that portray central characters on the series with the voice actors appearing on screen for the first time. Casting is also underway to include other Italian “known faces.” Episodes featuring the Italian remote will air late spring/early summer on CBS in the United States, while viewers in Italy won’t see the episodes on the country’s Canale5 until next year as episodes currently air one year behind the U.S. Note: The post REPORT: ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Returning to Italy for Location Shoot in Rome appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website.
