All: What is ruining your show

DAYS: Patrick, Hutzler, Mimi, Fath, E.J., the OUTLANDISH special effect endings (if it's low-key SFX, I can deal with it, and sometimes like it.), the SFX on flashbacks when it's to the point where you can't see the flashback, Jason Cook annoys me sometimes

PSNS: Siren, the music, the show not taking itself seriously enough ALL the time (the show surprisingly does drama well, but rarely does it anymore), Jared's portrayer, Chris, Chris' portrayer, the dialogue DEFINITELY, the last few months there's been a disregard for history which is kinda annoying for a seven year old show with the SAME head-writer.

Y&R: Brad Carlton!, Don Diamont, Sharon Newman, Leonne's acting only because sometimes she reminds me of how she was as Brook-Lynn on GH - and that terrifies me, the pacing is INCREDIBLY fast and it doesn't STRETCH out a beat as long as it should, the supernatural ESP [!@#$%^&*] is not working on Y&R.

DAYS: The Writing

But otherwise we might not understand it's a flashback! Because we're stupid! Because it's not like they'd be flashing back to the very same conversation that they're having right that instant! And we're so dumb!

I knew something was wrong when the Winds of Change storylines started were on OLTL. The stories were compelling, but the show was going very dark with the reign of Mitch, and the production decisions (serial killings one right after the other and the characters leaving were NOT a good sign). The decision to bring Micheal Easton's John McBain central was the biggest clue.

Higley's writing has sealed it. Not only have they cut (or want to cut) the characters that I enjoyed or was invested in, even the ones I moderately liked are dumbed down or watered down irrecognizably in favor of new ones I just don't like. Soaps may need some suspension of disbelief for a story, but solving a twenty five year old cold case, finding the guns, fingerprints, etc, age discrepancies, when I don't even care about the victim or the detectives is just too hard. Jessica's DID story is taking far too long to resolve, and Todd ought to have a plan to get Spenser, not just sitting back watching Blair do it.

That's interesting, because I couldn't exactly put my finger on why this whole storyline doesn't concern me. I think that might be it.

OLTL has never been that much of an attention getter for me. I keep in touch, I know what's going on. But other than that, it barely keeps me invested.

There's not much to be invested in...Higley has virtually made it the Spenser and McBain show. If you don't like those two characters, you are out of luck...completely in hte cold if you don't think REG is the next Meryl Streep.

What made me stop watching AMC, simple: The ressurected wonder Kane/Martin fetus, aka. Josh. Most vile pieces of science fiction, and just general trash that i have ever seen. AMC and ABC should be ashamed of themselves.

Also, the horrendous scriptwriters on All My Children. I detest Courtney Bugler and miss John PiRoman.

:o Wow you really know your AMC stuff. I didn't think anyone really knew the names of us lowly scriptwriters. I was a big fan of John's scripts as well. Getting him was a great coup for the show (he's quite an accomplished writer outside of soaps) and I think it was a big mistake to let him go.

To defend the scripts though, there has been a mandate for quite some time to dumb it down, keep references to history to a minimum and so forth :(

B&B: recycled storylines; character balance (not as bad as ATWT though); inability to integrate new and teen characters.

GL: shoddy writing; blatant disrespect of history

ATWT: character balance; general disrespect of history; never-ending storylines

GH: everything

B&B: Not making full use of the cast...it's all about Brooke and Ridge. I wish they would bring back characters like Rick and Amber for starters.

ATWT: Damian, I wish they would get rid of him

PSNS: Too much Theresa, withcraft, & Chris. It would also be nice if they could give Gwen and Ethan a s/l that didn't involve Therea.

Y&R: I don't really have any complaints about the Y&R...I just don't like Brad.
