June 14, 200619 yr Member Although I do support the concept of freedom of speech, I have called all my local booksellers and urged them to remove this !@#$%^&*]'s disgusting new book from their shelves. I urge everyone else to do the same.
June 14, 200619 yr Member I am clearly a quasi-Liberal Democrat. But I must confess I actually do enjoy Ann Coulter. Sure, I think she's racist, hateful, homophobic, narrow-minded, insane b*tch, to put it mildly. IMO, her words are hate speech. However, when she moves away from the name calling and the shock value, she does actually make more valid points than any other conservative person out there right now, IMO. I saw her speak in April. It was...interesting. She had like 19 armed guards with her, it was pretty insane. But interviews with her in it are WILDLY entertaining. Screw soap !@#$%^&*]es. She is the biggest !@#$%^&*] out there. And she owns the title and loves it. The dialogue and her quick wit is pretty much unmatched by anyone I have ever seen. I pretty much disagree with everything that comes out of her mouth, but I don't hate her...if that makes sense.

I urge everyone else to do the same. That's a good idea. I support free speech as well, but it's also widely known that you can't really say whatever yo want. you can't scream "FIRE" in a room full of people when there is no such emergency. She is spreading and must be vanquished from her sanctimonious, cunty platform!

It's the ones who take her seriously I worry about. Someone on another site called her the political or cultural equivalent of a rodeo clown. I'll stick with that.
June 14, 200619 yr Member That is the right way to go about it. Encouraging private booksellers to boycott her book does not in any way violate free speech. If her book was banned from public libraries however, I feel that would be crossing the line. Personally, I'm not that outraged by Coulter because I don't feel she even believes a lot of the things she says. Her agenda is to be a provocateur - the right's answer to the left's screaming liberals (Michael Moore, Sarandon ect.) Its not her I worry about, but the gullible people whose racist, homophobic views are justified by a mainstream political commentator.
June 14, 200619 yr Member Yeah. That is how a lot of people view her. I am not sure about the part of her not believing what she says and writes, but that's definitely not out of the question, IMO. And great point about Moore and Sarandon. So true.
June 14, 200619 yr Member On some level I believe we need to hear representation of the extremes to find the middle spectrum, but I'd never characterize Sarandon or even Michael Moore as hateful or extreme as her.

Yeah the Democratic extreme is obsessive political correctness and socialism, the Republican extreme is... evil.
June 14, 200619 yr Member The woman is just a joke to me. But the sad thing is that a lot of people adore her. A group of girls from my school went to see her when she gave a speech in Boston last year, despite the fact that Ann is a misogynist !@#$%^&*] who wants the gov't to repeal the 19th amendment. "Liberals hate America, they hate flag-wavers, they hate abortion opponents, they hate all religions except Islam, post 9/11. Even Islamic terrorists don't hate America like liberals do. They don't have the energy. If they had that much energy, they'd have indoor plumbing by now."
June 14, 200619 yr Member Yeah the Democratic extreme is obsessive political correctness and socialism, the Republican extreme is... evil. Show me the same kind of mean-spirited evil from the dems. Socialism? Yeah, it helps working people rather than the rich only. Political Correctness? We've replaced that a few years ago with "anything that offends the Christians". The term "PC" is now obsolete unless you want to change it to "Persecuted Christian". Democracy is supposed to be majority rule and minorities protected, not slandered. Only in the US is "liberal" a bad word. Stop drinking the Kool-Aid and ask yourself why. Again, from another website: "In another, smarter, universe I'd suspect she's (Ann Coulter) a liberal operative." ... trying to make all Republicans look like hateful mean-spirited people.

Granted, I don't read her books but whenever I saw her on "Politically Incorrect" or some news broadcast, she'd say something interesting and provocative. (Obviously, I'm a conservative).
