i do hope that the daily synopses will continue and not get lost in the shuffle of a much longer thread.

Thanks. I read the explanation, but I wonder if it's a good idea to continue the monthly thread at the same time.

It now sounds as if this thread will become a catch-all for all things BTG, including spoilers, and I just don't know that that's going to work.

That's my concern, too -- that the discussion of the daily episode will get lost. I don't want to be negative here, and I realize many of us are just averse to change, but I'm having a hard time seeing how this benefits our soap discussions.

This is an introductory topic posted in the Beyond the Gates forum. It is not a catch-all thread like the monthly discussion threads and the historical threads have been.

Members can now create any topic in this forum to talk about anything related to the show without it getting lost in the shuffle of a dedicated thread, as you mentioned. A thread is not a forum, a forum is not a thread.

As noted here, this is a beta test, and a posting guideline will be shared as the beta continues throughout June.

RE: the monthly Discussion thread for Beyond the Gates and continuing to use it.

I do not think it is wise to stop people from doing what they are used to doing cold turkey. The last time we attempted individual show forums was 20 years ago, when Passions was still on NBC, and we were being introduced to Ugly Betty on ABC. A lot has changed since that time, and I have no doubt that the SON Community can thrive and prosper by making this change. We are just a few of the remaining message boards still in existence where all soaps and other topics are discussed, sure, but that's proof that the need for one remains.
