Welcome back, Mark!

He seems to be in the same boat as his brother, Aaron, where he could've added another interesting dynamic to the storyline that he's involved in. And it's too bad that he didn't get the chance. They both need to be used a lot more. I don't really have much of an interest in Mark and Cat possibly giving EJ's miracle drug to their mother in order to help her though. There are much better ways to use Mark, and Cat too. Honestly, finally killing off their mother would be a better story choice, IMO, because it could be used as the catalyst for something interesting to happen for the Greene siblings.

I enjoyed Chanel/Paulina today though. Paulina is always at her best when she isn't so extra. And now that Paulina knows Chanel has cancer, hopefully Abe is there to comfort her, and be there for Chanel too. I've never been a huge Paulina fan but at this point, I do prefer Abe with her than Fake Lexie, who I felt just sort of dragged down those Carver family bonding scenes that we got today. This return is not working. And not just because it's pointless and unnecessary.

I still think Chanel, and Johnny need a better storyline than what they've got now.

But I'm glad that we got some follow-up with Philip and Gabi, and that Gabi now knows that it wasn't Theo who tipped Philip off. I don't see them as this endgame couple but I still think that the ship hasn't sailed for the two of them yet. I'm interested in seeing what happens for them, and for Theo, especially since they still have to work together. They seem to be writing Gabi more like a tragic heroine lately, and I don't mind it.

I was always fond of CB's Gabi, but I think there is something more likeable about the way CJ plays Gabi now. She is less smug and it helps you see her bond with Ari. I suppose it also helps that Gabi isn't doing something awful like trying to kill Julie via pacemaker though lol.

Oh, hello new Peacock intro! No more "do-do-do", I noticed.

Paulina's reaction to Chanel's news of her having breast cancer was... a choice. I got zero sense of emotion from Jackée Harry as Paulina, and everything felt very robotic and to the script, which shows a lack of talent to handle such material. At least Raven Bowens was trying to give something in those scenes.

Why is today the day to just drop the news of Chanel's cancer to their parents? 🤣 It feels very much like, "We need to push this story along now, so let's just drop everything in, and f**k emotional intent."

Gabi vs. Philip could be an interesting story. Lovers turned to enemies, possibly back into lovers? I would be down for it.

Poor Days is so lifeless! As someone said in the May discussion, the show drags. It was a longggg 42 minutes today. I thought the show must be close to being over today and paused it to see the time and it was only 16 minutes in. It’s so dull. And like I said last week, they just put scenes together and call it a show. I like Mark, but out of nowhere todays A storyline is Kat and Mark about their mother. How did that become the top storyline? Isn’t Paulina the Mayor? Oh sure, she has time to offer to run Sweet Bits. Abe is already kissing Lexie (who has a mustache)? Theo desperately needs to be recast! John Paul Lavoisier is out of control with his acting style. It’s very irritating. Welcome to current Days. Throw scenes that make no sense together and call it a show. Today was agonizing.

Or gambling with the life of a newborn baby with cancer 😂

I always preferred gray heroine Gabi over heartless monster Gabi. She’s more rootable that way, IMO

Honestly I can see why CB left especially if she was unhappy with backstage harassment and not feeling valued lol. I think it was spun as Camila wanted more money at the time, but I think there was a lot more behind that.

I think Mark and Aaron are used the perfect amount, which is: to fill in gaps where it would be weird NOT to see them, or to give Cat a talk-to when needed. I really don't think "the Greene family" needs to be a thing at all. The show acts like it's a thing on social media, but really, it's one major character and three very supporting recurring individuals tied to her.

I don't think this is a story about EJ's drug actually helping their mom, though. That seems to be the "trap" Cat told Rafe that she was setting for EJ. I have no idea what their mission even is anymore, now that EJ's activity in that lab is public knowledge...

She made harassment allegations too?

I remember liking their introductions. Tying Cat, and her thing with Clyde to them kinda messed up any momentum that they could've had. It always felt like an insanely rushed rewrite.

If it were me, I would've paired Mark with Dimitri. And possibly made Aaron bisexual to have a triangle with the three of them.

Finally, Justin got to meet his granddaughter!

It was nice to finally see it, even though Bonnie showing up halfway through the episode kinda messed up those scenes. I would much rather Justin and Alex had spent the whole time talking about the baby, and everything going on with Stephanie and Joy.

Speaking of Joy, I liked her and Kate together. I'll always hate the way that they came to know each other lol but I wouldn't mind a friendship growing between the two of them now. And Joy can use a friend, especially now that Jeremy's gone. Kate, trying to draw a parallel between her own history with Bill and Laura and Joy's situation was a good idea. Plus, Kate may need a friend sooner or later as well. Roman, finally believing that Kate didn't set up Johnny could lead to something interesting happening once the truth finally comes out.

I had mixed feelings about the way that Marlena was used today though. I did like her and Xander together, and the fact that she went head to head with him over his and Kate's lawsuit against Johnny, but I would much rather she had spent more time with Johnny then with Xander today. He, and Chanel too, need her a lot more than Xander does right now. But I'm still interested in seeing what happens, both with the lawsuit and Marlena's part in this storyline. I do think the writers need to include more scenes of her and Kate going head to head again though. And I really did enjoy Marlena talking to Sarah about the anniversary of John's death.

Everything with Sarah and her patient was a little random though. And Xander's part in it at the end seemed a little forced. I'm all for Sarah and Xander finally getting on the road to finding their way back to each other, but I think that there are a lot of better and more effective ways for that to finally happen, than what we got today.

Btw, what's with all the closeups of the babies lately lol

I don't think she specifically said "harassment" so I may be putting words in her mouth. I just recall a lot of statements CB made alluding to being unhappy with pay and with the environment. It didn't seem like a very amicable parting between her and Days.

I also remember her being rumored along with Lindsay Arnold to have issues with Alarr. But it was awhile ago so I may have my rumors or facts confused. Knowing what we know now it doesn't seem like it was a great place backstage regardless.
