Are we considering the brick wall to be a new set?

My worry with Deanna is that like Donnell, Samantha and Tyrell they will turn up once in a while. They need to have a steady storyline for some/all of them.

Deanna arrived with a bang but she's already out of the picture.

Having Vanessa deal with her kids might give her more nuance than wannabe mob queen.

The scene today between Anita & Bill highlights one of the show's major strengths: the central characters are VERY well-defined and are VERY well cast. Hard to believe a scene with that much depth occurred on a show that's barely one-year old.

Dear God this week has been so abysmal... so much Leslie. I am so glad Vernon finally did something. It's a good thing I'm babysitting my niece and nephew this week because it SUCKED!

I understand.

Yassss!!!! Someone online said she looked like she could be Whitley Gibert's daughter and I can totally see that, too.

I was thinking that, if you look at pics of Jasmine Guy as a child, she would have a resemblance to Deanna.

Although, nobody is going to look more like Jasmine than her actual daughter Imani

I do like how Anita has (re)built a rapport with her former sons-in-law. Yes, the circumstances can seem somewhat contrived but the actors are playing their onscreen chemistry well.

Put me in the category of people who just don't understand this deference for Joey Armstrong. No offense to Jon Linstrom who is a highly capable actor but Joey Armstrong is nothing more than a thug in a leatherette vest or a velour track suit. I just don't get it.🤷🏾‍♀️

I'm glad to see Iona Morris and Tamara Tunie will have scenes that are not if the "blink and you miss them" variety because they were really good on As The World Turns. All of the actors cast for Jessica Griffin's family were top notch, especially the late great Carl Gordon who played Jessie's dad. Maybe sometime when the show decides to address the trauma from Leslie's r@pe of Ted and Ted gets a therapist, BTG can bring on Napiera Groves as Ted's therapist for a brief story arc.🙏🏾

That scene did something to me in a good way. I for once felt it. And I could tell they were both in the scene

IMO thats more realistic and how it should be. They are in college and we shouldnt be seeing them all the time. I also dont think they need to be the lead of any story. They really exist at the moment to play supporting to Vanessa

That may be realistic, but it's not good soap. I don't know how they can play supporting to Vanessa if they're off-screen. If anything, it makes Vanessa look like an even worse mother.

I agree; plus, we cycle through principal guests quite often, which is a positive thing. Plus, it continues conflict for Vanessa, which I love.

Deanna's arrival was terrific and she seems to be cast well. I agree that it was like a slap in the face and then poof she's gone. The show tends to do that though. Hype a character, bam(!), then off he/she goes. Kial, for another example.

Bill's scenes with Anita and Kat were making me like him again and I usually don't. Well done.

I'm already over the Kial/Nicole/Carlton thing. Nicole talks about the men being juvenile, but I find it juvenile to be playing to men against each other like she is. Nicole isn't any better. Yes, Nicole has every right to date two men at the same time, but she's written like she enjoys them battling over her. So don't then call them out for being juvenile.

I agree that the Bill/Hayley story should have come to a climax in St. Bart's ala Janice poising Mac on Another World and her battle with Rachel. Bill and Hayley could have escaped for a week of fun. After they leave, more detailed results come in on Bill's blood work that shows a trace of poisoning (though Randy insists there wouldn't be. He isn't necessarily the sharpest though.). Madison discovers it and leaves the chart out in front of Dani somehow which, of course, leads to Dani being nosy and reading the results. She starts putting two-and-two together, Bill's shakes, the stroke, the "sudden recovery" and realizes it's Hayley's doing. She rushes out to go warn Bill and is overheard by Randy, who then drags Lynette with him, as they all rush to St. Bart's to warn Bill and Hayley the jig is up. There are confrontations. Someone dies. Bill returns behind the gates grateful to Dani causing more problems for Andre.

I've been a fan of Leslie from the first week when she was revealed as the "evil" Sheila character arc, but even I agree the past couple weeks have been obnoxious. I no longer find her funny at times. I just find her annoying and not wanting to listen to her anymore. I hope they tone it down soon!

The Bill and Anita scene had so much heart and emotion in it, it’s one of the best scenes I’ve watched from an American soap in awhile.

I watched a bit of the omnibus of older episodes on BET and some of the first week really did have telenovela vibes.

As for Wednesday's episode, the scene with Bill and Anita was quiite in depth. Anita doesn't give the vibes of treating him like a son like Vernon did, but she was sympathetic to his background.

Leslie going head to head with Vernon would be so much stronger if the stakes were more than a tacky house.
