I do feel she's been a bit muted...so her being a hellion and lighting Jordan up works for me.

See I thought that was terrible and just made Trina look like a moron because we audience already knew it was once again her mother who caused all the issues, and was sleeping around an hour after she decided to leave Curtis. Also Trina is way too old to be this invested in her parent’s marriage, a relationship that she wasn’t even witness to the majority of her life.

Exactly.

They likely put that together to make fans dislike her so they can write her out more easily.

I do think @Taoboi has a point in seeing her show some sense of fire is entertaining, especially after always having to be passive.

I think if it was just about that they'd do it. It's been almost two years since Spencer, she has the same kind of contract as anyone else and tthey don't need to wait at this point. Kai is already on recurring. I think it's just the lazy, bog-standard plot they do with a lot of young people and their bio-parents too often on this show, even when (as in Trina's case, but she's not the first) they barely know one biological parent. It is crazy and shameful how much Taggert has been totally memory-holed. Marcus is someone who could lend Portia a kind ear right now - even if you had to recast if there is an issue with Real, which I hope there isn't.

I might be on an island by myself, but as I may have stated before, I truly hate the way Portia, Curtis and Trina are written. Portia is forever digging a hole for herself, Curtis is sanctimonious and completely vomit worthy, Trina has been completely useless since Spencer left and I'm finally saying it out loud, I think Tabyana is a miscast.

I think it bothers me because everyone else in town expect for Nina, whom I love, gets away with everything.

Then you have sanctimonious Dante, hausfrau Brooklyn, Lulu who won't shut up (she's growing on me) and last but not least Laura who is total enabler.

I just find myself FF all of the time.

This show was so engrossing when I started watching it again after the pandemic, but this last year has been woeful.

With all that being said, I record it everyday and never miss an episode, even if I'm not paying any attention.

And opposite of what you said, I'm engrossed in every second BTG. Yeah, I think they need to step it up, maybe a lot....it still it still keeps me thoroughly engrossed.

I don't think you are on an island. Especially about Portia just glancing at the talk along the thread. I haven't liked Curtis in a minute either outside of his fighting with Drew which allowed DT to play something different and lit him up a little bit. I would even say this baby mess has lit him up a liiiittle bit there, but it seems like DT has gone back to low energy again.

IKR re: Nina. And don't get me started on how they are writing Dante in terms of Gio which rings false. Though I'm happy Lulu is growing on you. As for Laura...that slanted writing strikes again.

See? I have felt their second year as the HWs is coming along a lot better than their first year. Though the writing tics I don't like are still very much there and annoying present at the moment. But I understand why it can still be background music. That's me if I see Sonny with that ADA or Michael with the hussy.

I think BTG will pick up again so I'm not worried. It's just been I guess too slow for me and I miss the complexity that was coming off the characters in waves. Still love it.

Well as long as Trina doesn't turn into Sami, Eric, Thomas, and/or Steffy when it comes to her parents, I'm good. And I'm sure she will at least get over it.

I sadly can see that.

But yeah, she hasn't shown fire in a good minute. I love how TA is running with it. Body language. Some of her inflection. The vibe. Trina has a dynamic vibe to her that she hasn't had in a while. Dare I say it...at all? Like I said before, I'm aware it is plot device-y, but I like it on Trina.

It is strange Trina is THAT invested in her parents marriage, especially since it really doesn't affect her life much. She doesn't even live with them lol. Tbh, though, the entire Ashford clan seems to be obsessed with Curtis's love life, not just Trina.

I am the first to admit I preferred SM's Trina and it took me a minute to warm up to TA. I don't think TA is miscast, but I do get the sense sometimes the material bores her. Which, same lol. While Joss is off on her spy adventures, Trina is talking to Kai about her parents marriage for the 1000th time. I know times have changed and the budget is tight, but the show islands these young characters in a way they didn't in the 90's or 2000's. Trina gets stuck with the same characters talking about the same thing when she could talk to Emma or Gio about her problems.
