Well, at least we got our first taste of wacky hijinks from Brad/Britt. ☹️ Let's order an expensive dinner without asking who's paying ha ha ha!

So typically stupid.

Oh, but I am sure tomorrow we will get Jason paying for their dinner and Britt being a Britch to him claiming she didn't need his help. Even though he basically pays for all her essential needs. But Britt's a strong, independent woman!!

The stuff I said about finding the emotion, in every Labine episode I have watched over the last couple of days something moving happens. And these were not the big moments, not Stone dying or BJ’s heart. Just quiet scenes where they leaned into the heart of the matter. 1996 Guza has those spots too, but they are more about damage and less about hope as a tone.

I have been rewatching November sweeps '94 for the first time since I was a kid seeing it live. There's some beautiful stuff throughout but particularly when a still-hurting Tony first walks on the wild side a bit visiting Frisco with Felicia in Cairo, and bonds with Frisco's fellow WSB agent in a brief death-defying situation with some goons and his trusty scalpel. He then comes back to town and has a long, very thoughtful scene at the Outback with Mac where they talk about Frisco's upbringing and difficult relationship with their father, and how it has modeled his extreme opposite reaction to raising his daughters (or opting out of raising them) as well as about Tony's own experience with the adventure. It was fascinating, beautiful stuff but it was also what I remember that regime did every day, as you say. There were always little vignettes and grace notes like that.

I wish the show would reference that Charlotte once thought Nathan was her father. It didn't last long. They quickly changed it to Griffin, and then to Valentine, at which point we were told that somehow, she had always known he was her father. Still, Charlotte did call Nathan daddy, and she was even a little scared and clinging to him when she was first introduced to Nathan as her real father.

With Nathan and Charlotte sharing scenes, and him even being the guy who picks her up from school, it would be interesting to hear them talking about that chapter in their lives, and how much Charlotte remembers about it. I would especially like to hear him talk about Claudette with her, and how often Charlotte thinks back on her. If they are going to tell us that she has always had a bond with Valentine that surpassed the one she has with Lulu, they should remember that the limits on her connection to Lulu stemmed from the fact that she had originally had a different mom who she was bonded with.

I guess the show has decided to ignore all that, like the way they are ignoring Britt's history with Spencer. That one is even more aggravating to me.

Britt and Spencer did not have that deep a relationship. And Claudette sucked.
