So true. Can barely remember what happened on DAYS (and asks endless questions about what they supposedly just watched), but comes in trying to keep what happened 40 years ago relevant, when the script negates that. SMFH. Disgusting, actually. Guess the recaps of episodes for the past 40 years negated to mention how Monica felt about Jason.

Monica considered him a bastard in 1982. Feelings don't change.  It's the only right answer. What we saw on screen was just part of the AI thread.

I watched a whole bunch of Labine era shows, and also Brenda’s 2002 return. I have also hated him so long that I forgot how good he could be, and also how attractive he was. He was a real smoke show. I had been over him for a long time, but sometime around killing AJ and suffering through Kate 2.0 I just don’t care anymore. I don’t think he offers anything, and in the last few years it’s even less. I have a lot of respect for Maurice for his mental health work, it’s really not personal. I think I hit my Sonny quota like twenty years ago.

Mo was hot and can bring the spark if necessary.  Unfortunately Vanessa seems to be his safe, default place and Frank is having none of that.

Many years! He was hired by Gloria Monty!

Lol. Jason was brought back 1991 and he had his accident at the end of 1995, but lets just call it all the same lol.

Perhaps.  Setton is such a cold fish when it comes to romantic pairings it's hard to tell lol.

I remember the scene mostly because it felt very clunky as there was some focus on Brook Lynn's reaction when Dante praised her. If we are heading toward Brook Lynn/Dante/Willow/Chase (given the tension building between Chase and Dante) it is taking a long time to arrive.

Someday, I'd love to ask FV how he manages to cram so many :30 scenes into one episode, yet keeps most of the stories moving at a pace that is BEYOND slow.

I'd say he's going back to the old soap approach but that approach had emotional resonance and inner lives. Outside of some lovely scenes here and there (like Lucy/Tracy recently - still not sure how those got snuck through for Lucy), that doesn't happen often now. I think as others have said this is also down to Frank being focused almost solely on the budget, keeping friends going, filling five episodes a week, rather than quality.

Those Lucy and Tracy scenes were so out of character for how Lucy has been written under FV’s leadership dating back to RC as head writer. I was so shocked. I always hear great things about what the character once was but she’s been written as nothing but a clown since I’ve watched GH.

That and Lucy's speech at Monica's memorial are the Lucy I remember from when I first started GH somewhere around 1995. She doesn't appear very often (not even when she was on PC), but any time she does you're reminded of how special Lynn Herring is.

I’ve watched GH off and on for like 20 years and through that whole time Monica has considered Jason her son. It’s such a weird hill to die on that because she initially felt away about Jason’s existence, the rest of their history doesn’t matter.

If we got more of this Lucy, I’d totally be a fan. And yes she was also great at Monica’s memorial.

Never ever change. Must have been A.I., surely, because we radiate soulless antagonism and our compulsion for joyless torment. We must have identified the flavour of their contempt.

She always has. Picking and choosing a few scenes from years ago is an odd take.  I can take about a 1000 other scenes where Monica considers him her son.  He is her son.

It feels like being a contrarian just because. If Jason was such a bastard to her, she would’ve never even gotten close to Drew when he thought he was Jason. But I guess that didn’t happen either because she called him a bastard over 40 years ago.

Next year marks 40 years for Lynn Herring, and 35 years each for John J. York, Wally Kurth and that lovable bastard, Steve Burton. It might be asking too much, but I kinda hope GH would give them all anniversary episodes.

For Wally's, I'd love to see one epic showdown between Tracy and Ned, where they finally have it out and we can finally move forward from the empty and pointless mean ol' Tracy stuff.

Not at all. lol. Vanessa will have him saying uncle one way or another. ;)

Same. Especially for Wally who I've really have been liking seeing on a regular basis as of late.

Very. Just how Frank the writers like it.

Yep. Pretty much.

He is the bane of my soap watching existence. There is never a world in which I will even remotely like the character of Sonny.  I have to remind my friend all the time that Sonny has killed multiple characters I actually enjoyed with little to no consequence. And they’re still trying to write him like he’s some smooth operator to swoon over when Maurice’s heartthrob days have long passed him by.

Now were you were watching during Nixon Falls, right? Did that make you bend just a little bit? :)

I had already dropped GH by that time and completely missed Nixon Falls.
