There was a way that Sonny used to look at Laura that had some heat in it in the 1990’s. I’m taking when Claire Labine was still there, early Sonny. They did have chemistry. I thought Genie had wonderful chemistry with Tony then too, but not romantic.

I wouldn’t want them paired up now, or even then really. In the first part of their State of Mind interview she said there are all kinds of love stories. Friendships, family, etc. I have accepted GH is never going to truly deal with the problem of Sonny, especially after that Mulcahey tease. Laura and Sonny have had a friendship for years, it doesn’t bother me.

I have posted this plenty of times before- if a person with Laura’s past with no political experience and her criminal history and many legal issues can be elected mayor, then I guess Sonny being her friend is the least of their problems. At least Maurice has to up his game a little bit.

See? That was a good pivot.

I was just saying that a few months ago that since I got back to regularly viewing, GH had a thing going on where they would do the shift between their storyline focus and be able to do it in such a way, that they did not lose their momentum. At all. And it was great. Until it wasn't. And honestly, it seem to happen with the start of the Britt/Nathan returns. Thankfully, Monica's death (rightfully) overtook those storylines.

I love that since that storyline ended, it has that rhythm again. Starting with Ned's heart attack, it's been just grooving along again. I had really been enjoying Ned's increased presence. I really loved him getting close to Gio. So I was sad at his attack (is there anything Wally can't do?). And the fallout has been great to watch as well. And I liked how that story connected to the Gio/Emma/Teens storyline to break into the Professor's office.

And WOW how that storyline is snowballing. It shows how connected Rocco is, too. I was not expecting him to get in trouble. Nor was I expecting him to wind up in court with NO BAIL. Sonny. Dante. Lulu. Britt. LAURA. It affects everybody. Well, a lot of people I care about at least. lol. I do want more of Dante/Lulu dealing with it, but I love how Laura is involved cuz I was just mentioning how light Laura's appearances have been, and those have been mucha ado about nothing. 'Til now. Erza's still a thorn in her side. Now the Professor. And I like how Gio/Emma are involved, giving them a story within the story as well. And lest forgotten, this Rocco storyline also lightly touches on Sonny vs Sidwell so...

...seeing a pattern here with each story connecting in some way or the other all of a sudden? Cuz Sidwell continued to intrigue. And I found Britt more suited for her alliance with him (and that brief scene with Nathan at the police station) than whatever propping they been doing with her since she came back to PC with Jason. I saw a little piece of who she was so while I hate the Rocco angle of her return, a start. And I'm not liking the angle of Lucas moving in with him and Marco...okay, I am...but it seems like Carly's Revenge...which I was looking forward to...is going to be a slow (not a slow burn) storyline so le sigh. Speaking of Sonny...

...he just made Portia's life so much messier...and it was ALREADY MESSY. lol. So Alexis knowing she might be a suspect in Drew's shooting and having Felicia on the case = love. Now THAT is a slow burn. Involving a lot of characters I like, too. I liked Stella figuring it out and being...well Stella...with Curtis. I shook my head at how gullible Curtis is at Portia's hesitation to say she's preggers. I loved Trina reading Jordan down. And at some point...Portia is going to realize she's a target, too? This group hasn't been this interesting in a minute. MORE PLEASE. Speaking of the shooting...

...THEY ACTUALLY LET WILLOW OUT??? Who I still think is the shooter. And just look at the sass and shade she gave Jacinta when she saw her with Michael and Wiley. But she's just nice and sweet and innocent??? That bitca is CRAY-CRAY!! I expected more from BLQ when she finally got a clue about Chase being around Willow, but a good start.

I think what I like best about all of the above? They all flow into each other and back, showing how they connect. I don't even think the writers meant for the umbrella effect of it all. But if they did, well-played. I'm either interested or intrigued at all parts.

I think the only thing that is bothering me is the lack of Liz and how Nathan's storyline has just stalled. Honorable mention to Anna's disappearance, but heck...Dante as Commissioner which gives him more story...YES, PLEASE.

I too liked the Sonny/Ric scene. And a nice Friday cliffhanger with Rocco in handcuffs.

Finally got all caught up. My admiration of Genie Francis is no secret around here. I thought there were a couple of moments on Friday that didn’t ring true, but truthfully, part of that is the reaction to finding him and Sonny cleaning it up should have been at least a two episode situation, so there was more of a build up to her having a near breakdown. It feels like she was required to go from zero to 100 to sell everything that happened in one episode.

But for the most part, it also pointed out how little actual emotion there is on a daily basis on GH. Maybe it seemed out of place to some viewers because nobody has anything remotely deep or soapy happening that plays out. At least this is something deeply rooted in Laura’s psyche. When she told Sonny she froze, I saw Genie playing the internal part of Laura’s fear that has nothing to do with Dalton. Yes Anna and Willow and Britt also cry a lot lately. But it’s not the same kind of deep emotion on display.

The Gio and Brook Lynn scene actually had an impact on me too. I am glad that while adding all this heartache to Gio’s story, the actors innate charm still pokes through. I didn’t really expect to like him so much when he started.

Who knows what the story is with Nathan West, but he’s just about the worst cop ever. If I found the mayor on the side of the road looking like that and near hysterical, then the local mob boss arrives and she seems both relieved and more frightened, I think I would have a hard time answering another call.

Your love for Laura is how my love for her and Liz is so you are not alone on that. I've been catching up and I love how involved she's has been the last few weeks. As she should be.

My first thought re: Dalton's body was always about Rick Webber. I have to think that (or David Hamilton, or both) is what is foremost in Laura's mind.

I do get what you mean though, but I have my suspicions that the odd writing for Nathan in this scene--he arrives out of nowhere and then just as conveniently gets "called away" right as Laura and Sonny are insisting they don't need his help to open the trunk and fix the flat tire--was very deliberate. If I'm right and Nathan actually is the unseen mastermind who hired Dalton and is working with Sidwell, then the show is actually being quite clever in setting up a big shocking reveal. Right now, they're lulling us into a false sense of security, plugging Nathan right back where he was on the mid-2010s canvas: the upstanding boy scout of a cop. And of course his storyline is moving very slowly, to the point that it seems like it's stalled. But again, I think that might be intentional, so that we get used to Nathan's presence in Port Charles and drop our suspicions until the big reveal pulls the rug out from under us.

Chase's behavior is wildly uncalled for. I can see having affection for Willow, but he's been happily married for a while now and Michael was always his friend. There are ways to help Willow without openly tanking your own career and that is what Chase seems hell bent on doing. If his feelings for Willow had a real progression I could maybe understand. He went from barely caring about her to ride or die for her very quickly. It's not a bad plot to move Chase into Willow's orbit for an eventual affair. He is going about this so stupidly there is no way to not be on BLQ's side, which is obviously what the writers and Frank want because of Setton.

I think the Nathan plot may actually be stalled. I bet FV is trying to gauge when Kirsten will be able to return, as I assume it would be ideal to have Maxie in this story.

I am just thinking there are two ways to play this Nathan story and the outcome probably changes to something more favorable if Maxie can return.

The switch-up on Chase, to me, is to have Nathan be the esteemed detective, while Chase is the one who looks like a fool. Frank's favourite detective is back.
