BTG used music SPARSELY since day one. I have said that it was too limited and needed work, but if this is the fix, they've over-corrected.

I agree. They need to work more on this. I've noticed that a lot of the scenes with Thomas have bizarre music choices and sometimes nothing at all, which makes it even more unnatural. People like him need to have some sort of background music, because the absurd acting is left naked that way. I've seen so many over/bad acting moments through the years SAVED by background music... This is not a John Cassavetes production and we can't have the stripped from music scenes when someone is struggling to talk his lines out. Editing should be ON this. It's not the writers fault. (Since I know people love to blame writing for everything, even for certain persons lack of acting ability) I can't stomach hearing Thomas talk about sex while there is a depressing music on the background, something you should be hearing in a different mood setting. 

Derek doesn't seem all that broken up if he can kiss somebody so quickly. But he does match up with the firefighter better than he ever did with Ashley.

Vernon is surely not cheating, but leaving his cuff links at her hotel was not a good look. Why were they even off?

I'm thinking it will all come together during Winterfest and Silk Press Sheila will be exposed then.

-- Very few comments on today's show because it wasn't very good. 

-- The stories are fine, but the writer execution is so off.

-- The Vernon cufflinks thing makes no sense. If they want to build a story that makes it seem like he's cheating (but isn't), this ain't it. 

-- Dani and Andre just sitting at the airport all that time telling about where they could go was weird as hell.

-- I again have to complain about how much money Leslie has. We had to hand wave it away once, then again, then another time, and again. They keep reminding us that the story makes no sense.

-- Why didn't they say she also won millions in the lottery? At least then we could believe she was building a shouse and a sports complex and paying for others' operations and making huge charitable donations. 

-- She got $1M in that first check. ONE MILLION. You cannot do all that on a million dollars while also living a wealthy lifestyle.

-- Ted continues to be written as a moron. Taking Eva to Winterfest as his +1 -- the day after that huge fight with Kat??? Are you kidding me???

-- Even worse, Nicole gave it her seal of approval and called Ted the sane parent. No, that's not sane. That's not the way to bring your family together. 

-- We need more realistic hospital scenes. You can't have everyone talking for 10 minutes and in the middle of the conversation mention how busy you are -- followed by head nurse Shanice giving Ashley an hour off for lunch. 

-- Want to show you're busy at the hospital? They added nurses and support staff today, but still not a patient in sight.

-- I'd be ok with Derek getting a quick kiss from the firefighter and then stopping it. Instead, we were heading to a full blown make out session on Ashley's couch. Derek wasn't innocent, but what's the message they're sending about that girl? 

-- I just think today's episode was filled with bad writing all over the place.

Same. I am rewatching and it just feels so background music to see if it was just me. I guess not. Even the hotness of Dani/Andre isn't selling this scene for me. 

 

There's some good moments. All things Shanice. Derek and the kiss that I apparently wasn't paying attention to the first time around. The aforementioned Silk Press Sheila comment that was like an anvil. 

 

I think the thing I most took away from it...and yesterday to be honest...was that we have gotten to the point where actors/actresses are finally reusing clothes. It's a funny thing to note, but still...

I've been saying the same. But I love how they have done such a good job of establishing connections to the A stories in the set-up for Winterfest (Dani/Bill/Hayley with Bill being the MD again while Hayley is poisoning while Bill is digging up Andre's secret WHILE Dani/Andre grow ever closer--Silk Press Sheila getting everything she wants with money, Ted, Jan as a friend again only for Laura's presence to be hanging over everything while Kat vs Eva is intensifying while Anita wanted to connect it to SPS when she should know better WHILE anvils of 20 years and how much Eva is Ted's daughter dancing around as if there might be a only-speculated bombshell waiting to drop along with perhaps another only-speculated frame up coming byway of Hayley for SPS--Martin being roped in by Samantha who is having drama with him over a boy while Martin/Smitty still having light issues from the stuff with Kenny. 

 

I love it.

Honestly, I feel like they have stopped sparsely and moved onto to the B&B technique of having it play loudly over scenes/dialogue. It has been toned down as of late so they have found a balance. If anything the silent background scenes are standing out more now because there's so much music in scenes. But we both know I'm in the minority when it comes to that.

the fact that hs pulled away shows that he is broken up by Ashley. Cheryl in this moment was nothing more than a rebound and Derek used her to see if he could move on and realistically he couldnt that fast. We've never seen her before but its obvious she's had a crush on him for a while that he was aware of which is why he felt comfortable enough to do that

I mean...I'm all for seeing more of Derek's firemen friends. Can we have the other hottie friend of his back, too?

She had more chemistry and presence than Ashley ever had with Derek.
