Most of the story was about the straight characters' reactions, but I do appreciate that the statement being made was that Ed/Howard were perfectly normal and well-adjusted (well, as much as one can be in Fernwood) and that the others were weird for not just accepting them. Sorta the same thing with "Tippytoes" when she's around.
I agree with you about the comedy going a little haywire. I did love Cathy with the Addamses, but man, I am tired of hearing about Charlie's shattered manhood. I expected Jody Troxel to be around much longer but I was left wondering what his entire purpose was since he was around for only a short time and really made no impact on Charlie and Loretta's marriage. I wondered the same thing about Muriel earlier on.
